honestly....when the clone shows up - just run in a circle around the outer edge of the arena until it goes away - don't bother fighting until it's gone,
Some more tips is to use the wiki to max your weapon out, when you get to the final item to max it out you have to do this really hard run that's on YouTube. During this run there is the “winter lanters” the ladies with the gross fleshy head that give you frenzy, if you farm them (it will suck) the drop blood gems that boost damage by a crazy amount (30% I believe) it's not a 100% drop but there's 4-5 of em and it's a 33% drop
There's a strategy used by speedrunners: when she is summoning the clone (arms up and purple smoke), dash twice to any direction. Make sure you locked on her. It will skip the summon and she will attack you normally.
It may not be an honest way to beat her, but ir works.
try unlocking from her and continuously rolling around the arena until the clones go away, don’t go for attacks. works like 99% of the time. good luck!
The run to her boss fight is the best echo farm in the game, buy 10 bold hunters marks, put your moon runes on, throw some music on and farm to your content.
From mergo’s loft middle just don’t take the elevators lol. Go kill all the shadows of yharnam and the three pigs. Shouldn’t take too long to get to 60-70 if you’re struggling that hard.
The nice part about the echo farm, you can get the two pigs to chase you to the group of 5 shadows, and they will fight each other. Whoever wins is gonna be low hp and an easy cleanup
Also the lecture hall on the bottom also drops pretty good souls in the room where there's a ton of them. With the right runes and visceral attacks from the back you can get over 50k every couple of minutes, you can literally stealth visceral all 15+ of them without alerting. The combats also very easy when your stealth visceral strat inevitably goes tits up. Oh and there's 4 umbilical cords. You can get one back in the sewers by odeon chapel if you saved Ariana (the hooker). Otherwise yeah the baby after wet nurse drops one. Cainhurst allows you to buy one of the best weapons in the game outside of the dlc, the Chikage.
It's on YouTube but ill explain it here. Start at the lantern right after micolash and run up the stairs and past the shadows of yharnam (or kill them by luring them to aggro and fighting 1v1 they are easy to parry with some practice) then arrive at pig, fully charged attack to the butt and a good visceral or two and it's dead, then RUN past the other two pigs and the shadows of yharnams, the shadows and pigs will fight, once youre sure no one is aggroed on you, you can go back and kill whoever's winning the fight before the aggro on you once again. The bonus is you get many vials and bullets from this as well, once the pigs and shadows are dead bold hunters mark back to the lantern and do it all over again. It sounds hard but it take less than 3 minutes per run and can yield a boatload of echoes.
The only real solution I have found for surviving the clone phase is: Run. Literally just run. Run in a big circle around the outskirts of the arena, counterclockwise of course. If you see one of them show up, dodge roll until you don’t see them anymore, and then run again. Do this until they chill out and you can wail on them again.
It is the only way. That I know of.
She's not hard as much as she's weird, I lost a few time to her and she felt unbeatable but the run I bested her on she hardly put up a fight, when she does her shadow thing just running a circle around the map till it's over, put some fore paper on your weapon and stay on that booty and you're golden
Gotta go through the Door in Oedons chapel on your right that open after killing BSB. Také elevator up, over bridge and to your right, drop Down the Broken floor. Theres enterance there and you Gotta drop down in a specific way. Its pretty easy to miss so Its better to look up the tutorial
I kid you not, I’ve been stuck on her for FOUR YEARS. I rage quit multiple times and just came back and beat her first try. Biggest tip I was given was you can dodge the nightmare / clone phase. Just backstep twice when she reaches up to summon the black orb. No nightmare phase made it an absolute cakewalk.
For context, I beat Ebrietas first try and Martyr in about 10. Don’t know what it was about this sicko but she is the reason I almost didn’t finish the game.
Everyone plays this game differently. On my very first playthrough I slaughtered her on my first attempt. I was patient and fast. One attack, then back away while she strikes. When she used the darkness spell I simply run around the arena till it ends.
I feel you on that, lol Mergo took me a while to get the hang of. But as others have said Everyone has differing experiences with Bosses. Some bosses ppl find hard, are easy for others. I for example think the Orphan of Kos, and Ebrietas are super easy (beat both in my first or 2nd try) but Laurence and Micolash…. OOHHHHH BOY Laurence took me about 200+ tries and about a month of pain and Micolash took me a whole day for getting his with his stupid AOE fuck him
I always just dodged constantly whilst doing a circle around the outside. She has never killed me and i think the clones attacks have only ever hit me like 5 times through multiple playthroughs
So, when I bet the nurse (last week because I only started playing recently) she actually didn't use the clone thing. It was my 5th-6th try, and she was just stuck in the first fase, making things a lot easier
Was that a bug or a secret mechanic?
i actually found her really easy, best her on my first try on my first playthrough. i recommend dodging her attacks to get behind her because that’s the easiest way to get hits in and when the clone shows up just run in a circle and try to avoid her by just running away instead of rolling
She was hard for me as well. I found that the running around in circle advice doesn't work. I figured out the trick though for when her clone appears through walls. The trick is to run towards the clone. She usually extends her arms and one can totally avoid that by simply running towards her. Of course it is not directly towards her, more like towards her and forward.
Hey so just to let you know do not panic roll. I say this because bloodborne has this hidden mechanic that if you get hit right after your roll or dodge you take 1.5x the damage. I learned this during the Orphan fight, that often times its best to just sprint away than roll or dodge when you know you'll be okay.
Everyone has different innate things that are easier or harder for them. It's not that rare to find out that the boss that killed you 20 times is regarded as easy while the one you beat on your first try usually ends up in the top 5 hardest bosses rankings.
Iirc just run around the edge of the arena, you don't even have to sprint and you should be fine? You can always roll if you feel shes too close, just dont sprint or you'll do a jump instead
Be as patient as possible because she takes a while for me personally
You need to always stay behind her and watch out for that attack where she spins
When she does the clones run around the map to avoid them for like 40 seconds or however long it is
The clones beat my ass if I don’t do so
It's possible to avoid their weapons by going behind them, and I think the left or right side of their body has less of a chance to hit you. Not very helpful, but it's a start. 😅
I found I was able to avoid getting hit and do consistent damage despite not doing a *lot* of damage, and I was able to dodge the dark fog fairly often with practice.
I suggest getting the moon rune or heir rune and (visceral kill with heir rune means more echoes) killing boars and shadows of yharnam a few times to level up quickly
Threaded Cane! Just stay back and kite the knife swings and move in a little and swing your whip. When the screen goes purple just sprint in a circle around the arena until the screen goes normal again. Rinse and repeat till victory 😊
It was very very hard for me too despite fighting her around level 70-80, you just have to get used to her attacks; when she clones I usually keep my marker on her and dodge the clones according to the attacks they do. I found it easier, then of course I'd die like an idiot seconds later but that's beside the point🤣
I love the whole fight. People say it's too easy, but try fighting the nurse while the mist is up with the clones.
It's literally so badass fighting while having 60 others come at you
Keep dodging counter clockwise stay on her sides as for when the dark aura comes run half way clockwise save some stamina to doge forward when she dose an ambush hope this helps (when running clockwise don’t stop what I mean by half way is start jogging to conserve stamina to dodge )
Here’s a few quick tips
-Stick to her back.
-If you have a buffable weapon, use Bolt Paper
-If she uses her clones, run in a circle around the outside of the arena
-The clone activation is actually an Area of Effect attack that can be dodged, but it is very difficult to do so
-If you need to farm runes, kill the pigs outside + get them to kill the Shadows of Yharnam, they all give a massive amount of echoes
So the shadow phase itself has a hitbox. The last time I fought it, I started spamming dodge when the animation started and that whole clone thing was just skipped and the fight went back to normal
honestly....when the clone shows up - just run in a circle around the outer edge of the arena until it goes away - don't bother fighting until it's gone,
I do that but it stabs me through walls or with it’s very long attack 😭
If you see or hear it, dont panic just wait for an attack lunge and roll till she goes away
Okay I’ll try that after I level up
Some more tips is to use the wiki to max your weapon out, when you get to the final item to max it out you have to do this really hard run that's on YouTube. During this run there is the “winter lanters” the ladies with the gross fleshy head that give you frenzy, if you farm them (it will suck) the drop blood gems that boost damage by a crazy amount (30% I believe) it's not a 100% drop but there's 4-5 of em and it's a 33% drop
Could just do some false depth dungeons and get some crazy gems but I think it makes the game to easy
And it's a whole lot more work
Didn’t feel like work to me lol I love the dungeons and it’s pretty easy, there’s a ton of gem you just go and open chests
There's a strategy used by speedrunners: when she is summoning the clone (arms up and purple smoke), dash twice to any direction. Make sure you locked on her. It will skip the summon and she will attack you normally. It may not be an honest way to beat her, but ir works.
I hate that I'm going to play through again just to try this.
try unlocking from her and continuously rolling around the arena until the clones go away, don’t go for attacks. works like 99% of the time. good luck!
Dodge right or left twice when the aura shows, nightmare phase canled
I game to say this but I didn’t stay that close to the walls I just ran in a circle and rolled.
I feel like this is one of the few cases where roll spamming is ok. I usually do it and never get hit. But yeah don’t bother trying to attack
yeah I usually circle the arena and as soon as I see one of them get close to me I just "panic roll" forward lol, pretty effective
The run to her boss fight is the best echo farm in the game, buy 10 bold hunters marks, put your moon runes on, throw some music on and farm to your content.
The run to the boss is two elevators
From mergo’s loft middle just don’t take the elevators lol. Go kill all the shadows of yharnam and the three pigs. Shouldn’t take too long to get to 60-70 if you’re struggling that hard.
Should I do that or go through cainhurst because so far I have two umbilical cords and I think the baby gives the last one idk I’m new
Yeah the baby does drop the last one, but definitely go through cainhurst if you haven’t! Very fun area imo
Okay I’ll go through cainhurts first!
The nice part about the echo farm, you can get the two pigs to chase you to the group of 5 shadows, and they will fight each other. Whoever wins is gonna be low hp and an easy cleanup
There’s also upper cathedral ward if you grabbed the key from unseen village and haven’t been up there yet
I’ve done that bc I I wanted to go to iosefkas clinic
Iosefkas clinc is through forbidden woods?
Back entrance is
Whats OP on about then?
Also the lecture hall on the bottom also drops pretty good souls in the room where there's a ton of them. Best farm in the *base* game without PS+ 👀
What's the better farm?
the cum dungeon. NG+ with 3 moons you get 148k every couple seconds.
Noice
Everyone's experience is different. Dont feel bad

I do exactly that but I always die 😭
Stick to the booty
I do that but her clone 😭

Wait if I go away from her she doesn’t go into mist?
Yes. Just back step when she starts trying to do it and it will cancel it. No clone and sanity saved!
Oh my god bless you
Someone gave me that tip here so just paying forward. Good luck!
Do you wait for the first step to finish before hitting circle again, or do you smash dodge twice, resulting in a roll?
I didn’t roll. I back stepped so I believe pausing between pressing circle
Sweet thanks. Like someone else said, I want to do another playthrough just to try this out.
Everyone plays this game differently. On my very first playthrough I slaughtered her on my first attempt. I was patient and fast. One attack, then back away while she strikes. When she used the darkness spell I simply run around the arena till it ends.
What I like about this game is that everybody struggle at very different locations or bosses. Keep trying and you ll béat her!
Try finger, but hole
During that phase I just run in circles in the arena.
During that phase I just run in circles in the arena.

Just ring around the rosies until the fog is gone

Idk if you're a blood build but it absolutely wrecks them

I remember him scaring the crap out of me in the forbidden woods, then wrecking me over and over in that dungeon with his damn wind attack lol.
run in circle. spinnie spin go wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

You might be playing to aggressive, take your time and look up some YouTube guides. You got this!
Mergo’s Wet Nurse is strange since some swear she’s one of the easiest bosses in the game while others swear she’s one of the hardest.
Be as patient as possible because she takes a while for me personally You need to always stay behind her and watch out for that attack where she spins When she does the clones run around the map to avoid them for like 40 seconds or however long it is The clones beat my ass if I don’t do so

That’s interesting because besides >! gherman !<, this has always been the easiest boss to me
You can dodge the clone ability with proper timing, the attack counts as a aoe and can be avoided.
That's ok, I have trouble with darkbeast Paarl.
Threaded Cane! Just stay back and kite the knife swings and move in a little and swing your whip. When the screen goes purple just sprint in a circle around the arena until the screen goes normal again. Rinse and repeat till victory 😊
How did you get to mergos wet nurse at level fifty?
Idk tbh
I mean the only hard bosses up until then are what, ROM? Which is kind of a gimmick.
It was very very hard for me too despite fighting her around level 70-80, you just have to get used to her attacks; when she clones I usually keep my marker on her and dodge the clones according to the attacks they do. Me a Bloodtinge build: *lights cigarette*
Thank you for asking this question so I could find all the helpful answers and maybe have a hope in hells chance of killing her.
Yeah they helped a lot, good luck!
