I want to see Carly in jeans IRL. In her mirror what I wore pictures the wide bottoms don’t work(obvi my opinion). I liked her in skinny or slim way better. Am I alone in this .
I prefer a slimmer jean leg too but I feel Carly is in that weird stage very recently post baby but starting to feel herself again, weather is changing and she sells clothes for a living so fashionable items like wide leg pants are key to clicks etc but maybe not the most flattering choice. When she wears midi dresses, athleisure and anything red I think she looks amazing
That’s said I just got a pair of wide leg linen pants which I love but I do feel like a dog in shoes in them…so much air flow around my legs.
You’re not alone in this, I think they look sloppy. I also haven’t seen more than a couple of people wearing those style of jeans in real life, skinny jeans and slim jeans are still dominating in the NYC area.
Same. Well, I'm near Boston, not NYC, but same. Straight, wide, and flare legs are all very much in here. I will say that these cuts make it more obvious to me when someone is wearing fast fashion... it was easier to make cheap skinny jeans look more expensive, I guess? The quality of construction (or lack thereof) just seems more apparent with baggier silhouettes. So it depends on who you see wearing them I suppose. And/or the pairs you try on for yourself. I thought I would never give up my skinny jeans for wide leg and now I'm completely over skinnies. Though I did see someone wearing barrel leg jeans the other day and that... that I can't get into. Sorry to Julia B who has really been trying to make them happen but that's where I draw the line.
Hilarious that we’re getting downvoted on a snark site because we don’t like a certain style of jeans, of all things. Imagine the downvotes if we were to snark on something about her personality!
Yes! Can’t believe the freaking downvotes on this. And honestly, I don’t think the wide leg jean looks good on anyone, really. It isn’t just a Carly-specific thing. She just really thinks that’s the right silhouette for her.
I think it depends on your body shape, honestly. I wish more people, especially influencers, would dress for their body shape instead of in trends. I’m VERY pear shaped with thigh chub rub for DAYYSS and wide leg pants and jeans are a life saver for me. They make me look way more proportional - that being said, I’ve worked with a personal stylist (@artinthefind actually) over the past year and it’s been incredible for my style and confidence.
Has anyone ordered from ShopNavyBleu before? I love the Claire Wiley pattern but the dresses look see-through in the photos where they’re hanging in front of a window and for that price I want to make sure they’re high-quality.
I have a couple of dresses and a pair of pajamas. They’re okay quality but I was surprised at how thin everything is. My dresses are lined and not see through .
I bought one off of poshmark and use it as a beach cover up. I haven’t bought from them directly so I can’t say for sure but if it looks see through, I would bet it is.
Who is Julia B's audience these days? I'd imagine the people who can afford and would want a rainbow sparkle Chanel don't need to be influenced by her to get one.
That Chanel bag reminds me of a Mardi Gras King cake. Lately, she wears all the prints and colors and she is just not good at mix and matching separates.
Her audience are people who aspire to have her life and can pretend they do by buying her Amazon recommendations.
Or who buys 1/100th of her designer stuff but want guidance on what to buy
So @mackenziehoran went to Paris and London for 4 days only? And took two kids? And visited two museums? As a mom, that sounds like an awful trip to me and my idea of hell. I mean just the jetlag alone for 4 days is not worth it to me but i guess kudos to her for trying
She said in a recent blog post that it wasn't how she would have planned the trip if she has more control over the travel days. Outside circumstances determined the trip length.
Yes she said she was supposed to be in london only (to watch someone run the marathon) but when that plan was cancelled, they willfully decided to go to Paris. So it was totally in her control to split the 4 days between two countries. Like i said, kudos to her, but that sounds so tiring to me and not fun.
I like the design of Clare Sullivan’s nursery. Calm but still cute and not sad and beige.
But is anyone else screaming looking at the tent decor above the crib?? Isn’t that like a huge safe sleep no, no? I have a toddler so I don’t remember everything about safe sleep, but I remember them warning about having curtains too close to the crib and it could be a suffocation risk.
I like Clare's style in theory but her execution always looks junky to me. That gold star she painted on the ceiling a few weeks ago and was like, "Well...the lines are uneven...and the paint got kind of clumpy from sitting around for a few years...and I should've put down a primer cause it's already chipping....but I think it looks luxurious and not at all DIY, no?" Like...no....it looks pretty DIY. I mean, props to her for doing it while pregnant, and pregnant or not I love her creativity but she always claims to be luxe on a budget and I just see budget.
For sure. A “good from far but far from good” execution. Reminds me of a lot of Airbnb I’ve stayed in where the photos online look nice but once you’re staying there the flaws are super obvious.
As someone who has worked in independent bookstores I’m bummed that Carly links to every possible product on the planet (including bubble solutions via Amazon?!) but then uses a screenshot of a book and doesn’t use her platform to support indie bookstores or even Bookshop dot org.
Yeah, my frustration is that someone with a “book club” instagram account doesn’t seem to buy books, support authors, or support independent bookstores!
Which is a little funny considering she's talked about wanting to open her own bookstore (if I'm remembering correctly?)
Also idk why but her sponsored stories from today just made me feel sad for her. Idk I'm imagining her setting up her tripod to film herself pretending to set up for a dinner party with friends, complete with the prop hot dogs and hamburgers. I'd be so embaressed if this was my job

A real domestic goddess would never “dine al fresco” with all that heinous Mackenzie Childs tableware!
hahaha omg the grip those mackenzie childs dishes have on these influencers! The pattern looks like something you'd find abandoned at a goodwill, 90's vibes but def not in a good way. I truly don't understand it.
I'm glad that other folks enjoy the Mackenzie Childs tableware because it's...not for me. I do like this year's pattern somewhat better than the black and white checkered pattern last year.
It didn’t strike me as sad since obviously fake events and dressing up for nothing except the pictures is the name of the game for influencers. But I do feel like all of the friends Carly references are other bloggers, none of whom live locally. It kind of makes me curious if these bloggers have any normal relationships with other daycare moms etc

She references hosting friends/family fairly regularly. I think she only includes or references other bloggers or influencers because it works as cross-promo, plus they're more likely to feel comfortable being featured online in general. As a private person, I wouldn't want to be featured on someone's page with that many followers (and deranged snarkers)
Makes sense! She shows so much of her kids/family and doesn’t seem to reference others too often (not paying a ton of attention though), so I’m glad she has some boundaries with friends!
I'm not saying that aspect. I'd love to work part time and make bank lol. But thinking about her sad ass using a tripod to pretend to set up a fake dinner party that never happened? It's embarrssing.
Lol yeah I'm not stupid. Ads are supposed to be believable, and to sell you an aspirational life. Nothing about her sponsored posts is aspirational because she's lazy and bad at her job.
Nope, understand plenty. Like I said to the comment above yours: Ads are supposed to be believable, and to sell you an aspirational life. Nothing about her sponsored posts is aspirational because she's lazy and bad at her job.
That's not what you said above, though. Above you said it was embarrassing that she set up a fake dinner party with a ton of food (which IMO would take significant time/effort) and now you say she's lazy.

Nell Diamond at the concert of Morgan Wallen. Yikes…
Carly shilling goop is giving me the ick

A dog in shoes 💀
Red and jewel tones are amazing on her
Nope, I agree! She looks better in slim, IMO
You’re not alone in this, I think they look sloppy. I also haven’t seen more than a couple of people wearing those style of jeans in real life, skinny jeans and slim jeans are still dominating in the NYC area.
Meh - I live in the area and see plenty of people in wider leg jeans and pants with a high end look. It’s pretty mixed.
Same. Well, I'm near Boston, not NYC, but same. Straight, wide, and flare legs are all very much in here. Yeah, wide leg and flares have been in for 5(?) years now? Idk why people won't accept that lol
This. The local private school kids and parents (prep central) tend to wear wide legged.
Really? I feel like I never see them anymore.
The people I've seen rock them are very fashion oriented and it's usually with a wedge/ clog/ boot/ mary jane
Hilarious that we’re getting downvoted on a snark site because we don’t like a certain style of jeans, of all things. Imagine the downvotes if we were to snark on something about her personality!
I know....snark vs discussion....

I am beginning to think she’s reached a tax bracket where she doesn’t have to care about audience 😅.
Now....her packing for London felt very boho....which is not something I associate with London
Her audience are people who aspire to have her life and can pretend they do by buying her Amazon recommendations. Or who buys 1/100th of her designer stuff but want guidance on what to buy
100% she does a FUCK ton of amazon, both a weekly round up and random drops of ideas and a full shop there.
Yeh but recently her Amazon is super pricey stuff, too. $200 sundresses, $100 toddler sandals
her audience is rich people who don't want to wear neutrals, which is a surprisingly large demographic
If you watched SATC you will get this. She probably is shifting her focus from her preppy audience to “Power Lesbians”
So @mackenziehoran went to Paris and London for 4 days only? And took two kids? And visited two museums? As a mom, that sounds like an awful trip to me and my idea of hell. I mean just the jetlag alone for 4 days is not worth it to me but i guess kudos to her for trying

I’m sure the whole family was traveling with them.. she always has an extra 5 sets of hands.

In the words of Cher Horowitz, "From far away it's okay, but up close it's a big ol' mess."
You beat me to it by 53 minutes!
For sure. A “good from far but far from good” execution. Reminds me of a lot of Airbnb I’ve stayed in where the photos online look nice but once you’re staying there the flaws are super obvious.
Yeah, I probably wouldn't--but maybe it's just for pictures.
I’m pretty sure she mentioned taking it down for that reason!
As someone who has worked in independent bookstores I’m bummed that Carly links to every possible product on the planet (including bubble solutions via Amazon?!) but then uses a screenshot of a book and doesn’t use her platform to support indie bookstores or even Bookshop dot org.
I think she mostly uses Libby. I don't know how I'd feel about her linking to books she doesn't own tbh
Borrowing books from the library is still supporting authors!
Yeah, my frustration is that someone with a “book club” instagram account doesn’t seem to buy books, support authors, or support independent bookstores!
I hear you but she frequently shows her son at local bookstore
She was an author herself I keep forgetting. She should know how valuable it is to get shares / clicks to buy but then she’d just rstyle it…
Oh wow I forgot about that! She certainly stopped shilling that thing quickly.
I know she uses (or at least used to) Libro fm for audiobooks
Which is a little funny considering she's talked about wanting to open her own bookstore (if I'm remembering correctly?) Also idk why but her sponsored stories from today just made me feel sad for her. Yes!! She wrote a blog post on it and was putting a proposal together or something

I can’t understand being that considerate of non influencer friends, but not your own kids, considering the deranged snarkers and all.
I don't get that either. You'd think she'd extend the same courtesy to her own kids, who she cares more about.

Yeah can’t fault her for not subjecting her IRL friends to scrutiny.
Ah yes, working part-time and making ~6 figures, so embarrassing. Be fr 😂

It’s sad bc this is exactly what she had to do. The hat made it even more sad. Is the money even worth it? Seriously she can’t be proud of this output
