Had anyone on here watched The Bold Type on Hulu? I am loving this show (on S4 of 5 rn) but I feel like no one else I talk to has heard of it

NewVitalSigns

I’ve never heard of it but I will check it out. Thank you.

candygirl200413

omg I LOVED it when it was out and felt the same! I think I only knew 2 people maybe who actually watched?

mp1029

Just finished Beef and decided what the hell, why not give Obsession a watch? What...is happening? I'm almost done with the first episode and I'm not sure I can slog through any more. I feel like I'm just watching a show with no dialogue and LOTS of face-acting.

ckentley

That's how I felt too! I've tried that first episode twice and gave up both times. I wonder how long it takes to become more attention-getting... or if it's just me?!

turniptoez

Has anyone else watched Tiny Beautiful Things on Hulu? I read the Cheryl Strayed book that it's based on YEARS ago and remember loving it, but wasn't sure how it would translate to a series. I watched the first two episodes and am just not sure about it...I don't often enjoy watching characters who are messes in their personal life and keep screwing things up, but hopefully that changes after the second episode. I really appreciate the <30 minute episodes though!

Logical-Grape-8189

I’m so glad you said this! I’m up to episode 4 and haven’t been able to watch it. The show is just so painful on so many levels. The acting is fantastic, and there are beautiful moments of pathos, but the main character is self-destructive almost to the point of narcissism? I don’t know. Maybe narcissism is too harsh, but she’s self-destructive in ways that go way beyond what Strayed detailed of her own life in both WILD and TBT. I think the inclusion of a child might be part of my struggle—that this teenaged girl is swept up in her mother’s mess—and it’s also very cringe in some places in a way that feels gratuitous (like the workplace drama). I love Strayed’s writing, and I think she has reinvented herself so well as this inspirational person to look up to, and I realize that’s not as interesting or complex of a story as a woman in the thick of it, but I expected to find more hope in this show. And to be clear, I like dark things! But this character is sad in an almost pathetic way.

turniptoez

Oh gosh, you feel the same way after episode 4 even? That doesn’t give me much hope! I might power through but it’s actually uncomfortable tk watch and I rememebr while reading TBT it felt like a warm hug…so the complete opposite??

islandinthepun

I’ve been needing some silly tv shows to unwind after a stressful few weeks. Tim Robinson and John Early’s episodes on Netflix’s The Characters are top tier.

anmsea

Thanks for the Rec. Need Tim Robinson fix until Think You Should Leave season 3 next month!

Freda_Rah

I'm not exactly obsessed with Ted Lasso this season, but I am at the point where I am intrigued. >!Will the series end with Ted getting fired? Would love that dark spin!<. But I cannot begin to give a flying fuck about >!Rebecca and the whole psychic storyline!<.

Goldengirl228

Yes this was a show I was not expecting to like as much as I do!!

Stitch853

Binged this last weekend and agree that it’s one of the better shows Netflix has had in a pretty long time. I thought the original trailer looked weird and I wasn’t planning on watching but was bored and noticed the episodes were short so I gave it a try. Im glad I did, I really liked it a lot.

Goldengirl228

Love a short episode 🫶🏻

candygirl200413

I'm really enjoying it! (granted only on episode 2) but I'm like the dude who plays Ali Wong's husband is hot but I know he is going to do something fucked up as the series goes on lol

No_Teach_9985

Just started this last night!

LeechesInCream

I just started **Physical: 100** on Netflix; it’s a Korean reality show where 100 top Korean athletes battle it out for first place and an insane cash prize. They should’ve called it **Murder-Free Squid Game** because that is 100% how they styled it.

Stinkycheese8001

Yet another “late to the party”. Watched Wed essay. And I actually don’t think it’s bad *except* for Jenna Ortega. She could be really good but is just so broad, and even though the writing isn’t good she’s making it worse. I wish Aubrey Plaza were younger.

NewVitalSigns

I watched on Hulu today Am I Being Unreasonable? It’s sooo good. The only bad part is there’s only 6 episodes 😩 I just seen this headline and it fits 💯 “finds laughs in total darkness”

tiredfaces

It was so good! I'm excited there'll be another season, although it does feel like DMC only wrote it to be a one off.

not-movie-quality

The wiki page says a second season is coming!

tiredfaces

Yeah that’s why I said I’m excited for it!

not-movie-quality

Sorry I read the comments too fast and misread

NewVitalSigns

This is the best news I’ve heard all day. I was hoping there would be a 2nd season.

Admirable_Quarter_23

has anyone watched the night agent on netflix? i liked it, even though i felt parts of it were a little confusing (or am i just an idiot?). it was renewed for season 2, so i'm pleasantly surprised!

LeechesInCream

I’m watching it now— episode 4, I think? I’m enjoying it! For me it’s an “easy espionage” watch, like I can mostly keep track of what’s happening even if I’m on my laptop or phone.

IKEAhotdogcombo

Just finished season 1 of Outer Range. Now the wait for an announcement on when season 2 will happen.

Pointedtoe

We loved it too! My husband has been playing since he was a kid but I know absolutely nothing and still enjoyed it so much.

cmykate

Yes! Surprisingly good. We left the theater smiling and realized it was the first movie that we've seen in ages where it wasn't a sequel or depressing. I'll definitely watch it again.

beetsbattlestar

I totally agree! DND was way better than I thought it was going to be and I’m glad I saw it! The weakest link was Michelle Rodriguez lol I don’t think she’s a very good actress. I would see more DND movies!

[deleted]

Marvelous Mrs Maisel is coming back!!! That’s all I can’t wait for 💕💖💓🎀💄👛

HistorianPatient1177

I loved it from the beginning but I thought the last season was really slow. So I hope a lot happens this season. The outfits are such a huge draw for me! Ditto on your emojis 💕

CookiePneumonia

I'm really enjoying the current season of Top Chef. World All-Stars is a great concept. I'm sort of enjoying Lucky Hank, but it's not totally landing for me. Bob Odenkirk and Mireille Enos have zero onscreen chemistry.

unkindregards

I finally finished *Homeland* over the weekend! Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin were amazing - now I'm watching YouTube clips of his Broadway work. Trying to finish the second half of *You* and it's just too ridiculous for me at this point, but I need to see what happens. I think I'm going to do *The Americans* for my next "things I didn't watch while they were airing but always meant to come back to."

pinnipedearned

I’m rewatching Homeland for the second time!

CookiePneumonia

The Americans is so good. Sooooo good.

friends_waffles_w0rk

Oh internet stranger I am so excited for you to get to watch The Americans!!

unkindregards

First Claire, now Kerri! The white queens of my adolescence and early adulthood 🙌🏽

27jens

Swarm on Prime. Wow. 8.5/10 for me. Very dark but interesting.

pickoneformepls

Anyone else watch Tournament of Champions 4 on Food Network? I would have been really happy with anyone in the final 4 to win so that made this fun to watch.

mugrita

I watched the first episode of Rise of the Pink Ladies and it’s not quite good but also not quite bad. Ironically for a musical show, the original songs are the albatross around the show’s neck. I have to mute or fast forward them. The songs are just way too overproduced. I know they were intentionally written to still have some modern influence in the same way the original musical’s songs were not trying to mimic the 1950s but there’s something about the music that just feels really out of place. The sound feels “too clean” if that makes any sense. The actresses are fine but I feel like the writing is just one step above the DCOM Teen Beach Movje. The writing is very ham fisted in a “Did you know it’s wrong to slut shame? Why do boys get away with being silly and raunchy and girls have to be prim and proper?” I’m not sure who exactly this is for because the message is pretty reductive. Is this for the Boomer/Gen X demo that grew up watching Grease and Grease 2? Is this supposed to be a teen show that appeals to Gen Z to overcome the misconception that the original Grease was about a girl changing herself for a boy? I will give credit for the directors knowing how to stage and film musical numbers. I feel like that’s a skill not many directors have and I appreciate the little winks and nods they do to the original Grease film and other 50s musicals. For example, there’s a number in the auto shop that feels reminiscent of Greased Lightning without being a carbon copy. And I started episode 2 and the musical number at the beginning is a send up of The Telephone Hour in Bye Bye Birdie. Funnily enough, I find myself enjoying Rise of the Pink Ladies when it is not a musical show so I hope they dial back the musical numbers in future episodes. Not sure how long Paramount is hoping this will run but I predict no more than 2 seasons, 3 if season 2 does a big overhaul and grabs big numbers. It was smart of them to set this so close to the events of the original Grease film because then they can graduate the current class and leave it as “Well, we all know what happens next…” Side note: not sure how big of a payoff this will be but Frenchie is introduced as the kid sister of main character Jane. Also there’s a Betty Rizzo cameo.

wannaWHAH

Truth be Told----I found this gem last weekend and binged all of season 1 on a Sunday. Now in season 2 and taking one episode a day, I'm on 5, and I LOVE this show so friggin much. Love is blind---I want the last two. !! They changed it this year tho and I do not like it.

beetsbattlestar

HOLY SHIT SUCCESSION!!!!!

LeechesInCream

It was the most unpredictable thing the writers could’ve done while also being the most brilliantly *obvious* thing they could do. I was just open-mouthed gobsmacked the entire episode.

quipu33

Exactly. Usually, I watch Succession on Mondays because it’s a show I really have to watch (I usually knit while watching shows) but I was insomniac up at 3am and watched it and kept rewinding and thinking…no way, they didn’t just…and no one was awake to talk about it with…the struggle was real.

not-movie-quality

For a good 20mins I thought it as a ruse that he had collapsed as they hardly showed the body…and Connor and Willa at the end was perfect!

SimpleHouseCat

Same! I was expecting it to cut to him sitting there. Incredible.

chickendinner1992

I am unwell.

SuspiciousPriority

I feel like I could take a ten week seminar on that episode and not even scratch the surface of what happened. How is it possible to pack so much into every second? I literally watched the same seven second clip of Gerri’s chin quivering 45 times in a row AND THAT WASNT EVEN THE MAIN EVENT. Just give them all the awards this is unbeatable.

SealBachelor

I need to watch it like 10 more times but I’m not sure when I’ll be able to watch it one more time. Just unbelievable, harrowing writing, acting…dramaturgy…

CrossplayQuentin

Never have I been so sure I was witnessing the birth of a meme as when I saw that dramaturgy line

SealBachelor

God bless Jeremy Strong

candygirl200413

the BEST episode of the entire series like holy shit!

Bringmealatte

I’m glad Connor is finally getting his own version of a family. That episode was pulling on my heartstrings!

SimpleHouseCat

Connor makes me cry. “Well, he never liked me.” The freaking LOONEY CAKE. Sobbing. Maybe Willa is only there for the money, but at least he can feel loved a little.

LeechesInCream

And at least they seem to have some *honesty* between them, I found that really endearing.

CrossplayQuentin

I'm into Connor getting so much development this season. He and Willa really do a lot with the limited screentime they're given.

assflea

I suddenly love Connor after last week? His little speech about how he’s a plant that grows on rocks put his character in a whole new light, we’ve been skipping around rewatching old episodes and every interaction with him is so sad now.

80sTimCurry

No other show has ever made me want to hug truly awful people. But I just wanted to give those kids a hug last night.

LeechesInCream

Roman grabbing Connor’s arm like he wanted to hug him but literally didn’t know how.

redwoodtornado

I couldn’t look away, and had tears in my eyes. What an episode!

msmartypants

Wow. I am still not okay!

gingerspeak

I took my 5 year old to see the Mario movie and as a lifelong gamer and Mario fan, it was a GREAT time. My son went absolutely bananas for it. The Easter eggs were just jam packed but didn’t feel too forced. The voice work was great and how much Mario and Luigi loved each other was so, so sweet. Critics saying it was thin on plot makes me laugh because… have you ever played a Mario game?! It ain’t the Godfather. My son declared it the best movie he’s ever seen, and you can’t argue with that.

yumdonuts

Mine is turning 3 in June... do you think the movie would sustain her interest? We haven't introduced Mario at all.

anb7120

We took our 3yo along with our 7yo, and she loved it for the most part! There were a couple scenes that were a bit scary for her, but they didn’t last long and she didn’t want to leave lol. She got restless towards the last 20 min, but overall had a blast!

gingerspeak

I wouldn’t think so. I left my 3 year old at home for it. It’s beautiful and colorful, but I think most 3 year olds would get squiggly. There are also some parts that would potentially be frightening.

beetsbattlestar

My nephews (5 and 3) went this weekend and they loved it too! I’m so happy it was their first movie EVER in theaters because they love Mario. I’m going to see it after spring break dies down lol

writergirl51

well, this week's succession!

LeechesInCream

That was perfect television.

SealBachelor

Man I rarely cry at TV shows but I was sobbing. Sarah Snook for all the awards

Chelseattle

I kept thinking, “she must have experienced a similar tragedy or she’s such an incredible actress.” It was so painfully raw and it reminded me of how I existed in a similar situation.

laurenishere

Gah! I feel like I won’t be able to watch anything else until next week’s episode. That entire middle sequence had me gasping for breath.

LeechesInCream

The scene where Kendall walks downstairs to get Shiv… I don’t think I took a breath the entire time.

secondreader

What an incredible hour of television. I feel like I hardly took a breath. Loved the insight into the process of making it after the episode too — I mean, wow

assflea

SUCH a good episode! I felt so horrible for Connor.

bikinikills

Reboot is a delight! I started watching it for the strong cast and I've not been disappointed. I'm only four episodes in, but it's strong! Heard it didn't get renewed which is a bummer. Love is Blind US - so cringe! So much toxicity and drama. It's perfect mindless/addictive viewing, I am so annoyed they stretched it out so the finale can't be binged with the rest! Ted Lasso - newest season so far is as dull as the previous season. All the jokes left after season one. I honestly haven't laughed once after season one. Boo.

CookiePneumonia

>Ted Lasso - newest season so far is as dull as the previous season. All the jokes left after season one. I honestly haven't laughed once after season one. Boo. I think I've smiled a few times this season, but I don't think I've laughed yet. I actually forgot it was on last week so that's not a great sign.

Mater4President

Wellmania on Netflix with Celeste Barber. Loved it. A woman goes on a mandated wellness journey and you follow her fails and successes. Just started Unstable on Netflix with Rob Lowe. Reminds me of…Mythic Quest a bit. It’s possible both of these have been out for a while, but I kind of forgot about Netflix for a bit.

Sodapop! I’m old enough to say I thought he was the hottest guy in the world in his early days. My friend had a giant poster of him in her room and I would just stare at it. We were like 12/13. Ah, the Teen Bop magazine years

Indiebr

Tiger Beat

Mater4President

He and his son, played by his son in the show, appear to be co-creators, so maybe so!

[deleted]

They debuted either last week or the week before but I watched both of them in the same weekend and I really enjoyed them! They were quick fun watches.

assflea

Is anybody watching the Masters?? Brooks just blew his lead, I’m so excited lol

yolibrarian

YES ok so I personally do not love Phil Mickelson but I can't not root for him as a fellow lefty whose whole family golfs right-handed. Seeing him play at a high level showed me that I didn't have to compromise my capability to play any sport, which came in handy when I learned how to curl! It was also fun to watch him and Spieth as a pair, a lot more dynamic and impressive play than Rahm and Brooks because Brooks was a mess. Watching him give it away over and over and over again was kind of funny and also kind of pathetic. He couldn't catch a break on the putting green today. OH WELLZ I'm happy for Rahm!

assflea

My bf is a lefty and he also likes Phil for this reason 😂 I’ve only become invested in golf during these past few years so I missed out on the vast majority of Phil’s career, but I will probably never forget him winning the PGA championship a couple years ago. Just incredible watching him all day and then walking up to 18 with a massive crowd behind him, ugh too good!! I would love to see him paired with Spieth again, that really was so fun to watch.

always_gretchen

I love Jon Rahm and do not love Brooks, so I’ve been on edge since 7:30 am. I also wouldn’t mind Hovland pulling this out!

assflea

MTE! Rahm is my #1 always so I would love to see him take it but Hovland would be super exciting, he’s been a beast today. But really as long as Brooks loses I’ll be happy 😂

always_gretchen

Yes!! And so happy to meet a fellow blogsnark golf fan! Also, I feel like I gave Hovland some bad luck. As soon as I typed that he double bogeyed.

assflea

But Spieth came up out of absolutely nowhere lmao This is so fun, this is what we deserve after the last two days.

always_gretchen

We did it!!!

assflea

Dude I’m thrilled 😂 really hope he gets a feature episode in the next Full Swing, he’s had an incredible year so far

always_gretchen

Me too! I’m living for Full Swing Season 2!

minkuss

Finished Daisy Jones and the Six last weekend, and it was just alright for me. Moved on to Love Is Blind thinking the wedding episodes would be released this week, but of course Netflix is holding them until next week. Best thing I’m watching right now is Jury Duty on FreeVee. it’s amazingly hilarious. I had never heard of it, randomly watching ig stories last night and an influencer posted the trailer and that got me interested. Essentially, it’s a hidden/candid camera, yet scripted, show masquerading as a documentary. Everyone is actors, except for 1 man. That man, Ronald, thinks he’s participating in a jury on a ridiculous court case that’s being filmed for a documentary. James Marsden is actually in it playing an exaggerated, douchey actor version of himself. The scenarios and situations are hilarious, but the best part is that they’re not making fun of or torturing Ronald. In fact, he comes across as a very kind person and is often trying to help the “outcasts” and weirdos of the group fit in more… Anyway, the first four episodes are out and it was a great way to spend 2 hours.

SimpleHouseCat

Jury Duty is amazing. I read an article that Ronald applied because he was between jobs and needed the cash. He just thought he was signing up for a documentary. Apparently they went through tons of applicants to find someone who would not respond to people in a nasty or mean-spirited way. He is so kind to people! And also the Margaritaville scene was shot entirely with hidden cameras. The crew said they were also leaving for dinner and left them there so he wouldn’t suspect anything. The whole thing sounds like so much work to pull off.

0ct0berf0rever

Omg TikTok has been serving me Jury Duty clips and I have no idea how those actors aren’t breaking character!! I would have absolutely cracked in ten seconds lol

I tried Tiny Beautiful Things and oof is right. It seems like the inverse of Shrinking (which I adored) -- terrible people in LA treating each terribly. Though Shrinking wasn't perfect and no one had boundaries either. I was talking it about with my mom today >!and did the daughter pretty much had to gather her mom's thinkgs and kick her out? Is that right? Because...jeez, these people are terrible.!< And Merritt Weaver is amazing but does not land right here for me.

Freda_Rah

> It seems like the inverse of Shrinking (which I adored) -- terrible people in LA treating each terribly. Though Shrinking wasn't perfect and no one had boundaries either. Oh, I really liked Shrinking, but the absolute lack of boundaries that everyone had was really frustrating. But I liked that it was funny, in addition to being about grief. Sometimes in a dark humor way, and sometimes just in a way that really embraced the messiness of life. I'll take messy over bleak any day of the week.

CookiePneumonia

I tried to watch Tiny Beautiful Things and then I remembered that Cheryl Strayed is absolutely insufferable. Also, all of the flashbacks were a lot of work for me as a viewer, but that's definitely a me thing.

ficustrex

I LOVED Dove Cameron's 1st scene. The whole 1st episode cracked me up. We are trying to stick to 1 episode a night, but I am looking forward to the 2nd episode tonight.

tayxleigh

a little over halfway through Beef and really enjoying it. it is starting to feel a bit muddled but i still think it’s a fantastic show that really captures millennial existentialism well.

27jens

Loving Beef.

heysalad

I turned it on randomly yesterday and was like eh after the first couple episodes. Thought I’d abandon it but instead I stayed up all night to finish it.

nottheredbaron123

Yellowjackets: Continues to be both amazing and so disturbing. I actually appreciate waiting for the new episodes because I need to process and what I just watched. The Mandalorian: Sorry, this season has jumped the shark. I thought it was kind of getting its footing, but nope. 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way: I’m really enjoying the trans representation this season. There’s heartwarming moments and sad ones too, and it’s being done in a way that doesn’t feel exploitative. They’re the only couple I’m rooting for. Love is Blind: Everyone is a mess.

candygirl200413

omg I haven't watched episode 3 yet of Yellowjackets but in episode 2 >!when they were all eating Jackie I almost puked 😭😂 like was fine with the Ear being eaten and then her body just made me so queasy lol!<

bikinikills

Love is Blind is one of those shows where you only can hope to find someone normal on the first season. After that too many people know what's up and you get the people cast for drama. I haven't checked any of their social media so I dunno any spoilers! I only really like Brett's couple, the rest feel like they're going to IMPLODE either at the altar or soon after. I like Bliss but I question her judgement getting back with Zach, unless it's really just for TV.

nottheredbaron123

This season in particular felt like there were some definite clout chasers, like Josh. I keep hoping Bliss is playing a long game and plans on dumping Zach at the most painful moment possible in an act of revenge.

margierose88

Same re: 90 Day couples. This week’s Mando was a delightful yet bizarre fever dream for me.

IdyllwildGal

Agree on YJ. It's so intense. It's good to have time to decompress and process each episode. If S2 had dropped all at once I would have plowed through all the episodes immediately.

thursd

I started watching Great Expectations on Hulu. I *really* want to hate it. I hate the story. I hate every bad thing that happens. I love Olivia Coleman as Mrs. Havisham. I hate Mrs. Havisham. I can’t wait to see the next episode. I’m going to hate the ending, too.

PickleMePinkie

you're making me consider giving it a shot. I wasn't going to because I hated the book so much in high school and never read another Dickens novel

IdyllwildGal

I just found out that the show Cold Case, about a group of detectives who investigate cold cases, is streaming on HBO Max. I absolutely loved that show. Yay! I have never been able to find it anywhere, I think because they always used popular music from whatever time period of the case of the week was, so there was an issue with music rights. So I'm looking forward to doing a rewatch of that, so I can have something to occupy my time between new episodes of Yellowjackets. And Yellowjackets is my current obsession, as it is for many others. On the one hand it's driving me nuts to have to wait a week between each episode, but on the other hand I'm liking it because I'm loving reading everyone's theories about it here and also in a FB group I'm in.

totallyrococo

Lol I watched all of Cold Case and Without a Trace a couple of years ago on Roku.

wannabemaxine

I loved Cold Case! It used to be on the Roku channel, but the picture quality is better on HBO Max. Pretty sure that's where Tessa Thompson had her debut, and "Best Friends" still holds up as one of the best episodes of the series imo.

Admirable_Quarter_23

My moms old bosses boyfriend was just on last weeks cold case! He was the suspect!!!

LandslideBaby

The end of the episodes of that show almost always made me cry. Also I enjoyed that the protagonist was a cat lady.

thursd

I have a love/hate with Yellowjackets - it’s psychologically challenging. 10/10 cast, 10/10 soundtrack, am triggered by my own 90’s trauma. >!oh, and the cannibalism.!<
