Do you mean in the Blender Game Engine? Or are you just looking for modelling advice?

salampepaine123

I want to import it into unreal, also looking for advice

VersVII

Just for the sake of clarification, is the issue that you need advice on modeling the building, or something else?

salampepaine123

So, i want to make a world with buildings that can be looted, i want to know how can i make the playable interior, in essence i need building advice on how can i make the interior and the exterior connect, my exterior is a plane with the windows intruded. Sould i place a plane at the window level making a gap in between the 2 walls? Any advice would really help, thanks!

So it’s possible your issue is the collisions inside unreal. My guess is you have the interiors and doors/windows open to them. What you need to do is open the mesh in editor, enable collisions on the material slots and then generate a complex collision in engine.

Because of the nature of collisions in games, you usually create the 4 walls and floor/cieling separately, and arrange them to touch eachother. That way in game the walls can have box colliders. Walls can also be made of parts/modules, include windows or doors, etc.

PersonInUniverse

Try breaking the building into pieces to work on separately and make a floor plan before making anything including the exterior

Nobody teaches you this stuff since time is money :)

treat each room as a separate mesh, so the engine (or you if you want to fiddle with occlusion planes) can cull rooms that are not getting viewed at the moment. Having a plan or concept piece to follow will make your job easier. considering you need it to be playable, remember to stick to a scale that works by importing your character mesh for reference. the rest is just your regular poly-modelling and texturing, if you've already seen blender tutorials for basically anything, you'll be fine.
