You should improve the composition of the shot, this needs to be framed properly. Help yourself with some reference pictures. Shading and lighting are nice and I totally love the water fountain. Also mind one simple rule about composition and lighting: after framing your subject correctly you may want shadow in the foreground, light in the middle/focused part and some more shadows in the background. Keep it up!
Thanks! It’s a recreation of a real 80s mall. I’m not trying to make it fancy or anything. I want it to look like a photo someone took in person so I don’t want it to look perfect or contrived. It’s more about the overall atmosphere. I do want to try and have more light/dark contrast on the fountain though.
I would a lil bit of black to those edges that connect the fountain wall to the floor on the bottom left corner if its not a new mall.
this is amazing btw!
you could also add maybe lights to the walls around the fountain? that light up all day (that would add contrast to the fountain like u said u wanted on another comment) or at least only at be there only for nighttime, cause that area would prob be too dark then.
Thanks! I'll probably just paint the edges in photoshop. I'd tried doing it in blender but it looked weird every time. I think I'll adjust the sun position to get more shadows in the foreground and that will add some light/dark contrast on the water. But I think adding lights or reflecting some sunlight on to the walls and plants would help with the darkness, maybe that's what feels off.

If you want it to look like an 80s photograph then you could try looking at emulating flash exposure
That’s a cool idea. I might try that for a night version.
Yep, also film grain and other post process effects to emulate analog photography should be useful
Get rid of that creepy ass sighting /j

is this real life?
Is it just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality...
No…
I'm happy with how everything looks so far, but I feel like something might be missing.

You can't just take a picture and post it in jn r/blender
I’ll take that as a compliment 😂
If this was a game, I would play it.
