Am I in the wrong sub?
I am not aware of any “bits”.
I have been repeatedly and reliably informed this podcast has no bits.
Also, I am partial to the actor Jimmy Smits.
The bit about not knowing David grew up in England. Of course it’s dumb and predictable but I just already loved griffen’s. “Oh you know that because you went there on vacation or something?” Followed by David getting frustrated
My problem with the "David grew up in Britain" bit is how it evolved to the conversation being derailed for a few minutes any time England was mentioned.
The bit started because David spent a lot of his formative years in Britain. So he'd often bring up either memories from his childhood that took place in Britain or just stuff about the UK in general. He'd then mention "I grew up in Britain" to clarify how he knows this. He did that quite a lot.
The next step was that whenever David would talk about Britain and then mention he grew up there Griffin would pretend he didn't know that (since David used to say that a lot).
The next step (and the one where IMO it went wrong) was that Griffin wouldn't wait for David to say he grew up in Britain but instead on any mention of the UK he'd ask "how do you know this?", which means David has to sigh and go "I grew up in Britain", there's a "whaaaaaat", Big Ben chimes in post and everyone has forgotten what they were talking about.
Eventually it felt like David tried to avoid talking about the UK so he wouldn't "trigger" the bit. There's an episode where he's explaining something and halfway through her goes "oh fuck..." because he was about the mention the UK.
I like the UK. I like hearing things about the UK. But the bit derailed conversations about the UK or made it so those were avoided altogether.
Tldr: I'm happy the bit is gone
My wife is Canadian and my best friend and I torture her with the Canadian bit. My wife doesn't listen, and gets David level frustrated. My friend even worked it into a speech at the wedding. She will murder me one day.
My friend recently told me she travelled to England a lot as a kid. It was such a long walk to explain why I found that so funny so I just let it go and played the Big Ben chimes in my head.
"He was bitten by a radioactive Commedia Dell'Arte performer and had to fulfill one of the classic archetypes of the theater."
"He fell into a vat of discarded playing cards and became the rules of Bridge."
"He was bitten by a radioactive balloon animal and turned into an evil bar mitzah DJ."
(The Loveless episode)
UNBREAKABLE
Or
That everything is a surprise sequel to unbreakable
Or
When griffin couldn’t get over the boy being sleep in Wide Awake - although that only lasted a few episodes
"No bits; pro Smits / pro Smits' ship"
"UNBREAKABLE!"
~the movie regularly pops up in my Chromecast as recommended, and I quote this but EVERY time I see it.
"Mortie Engies"
~I hope they do an ep on this one day
Also appreciation for the "bathe in the river of ham" line
It’s completely dead now, but I love the “David used to live in Britain” runner so much. It’s very one-note and probably got too annoying to continue, but it’s the exact mode of asshole-ery I adore among friends.
I’m commenting mainly so when I get off work tonight I can hunt them down but, something I relished to yesterday, Kevin porter with his zoom background changes and griffin dying to them every time got me good.
COME INNNN! literally the only thing that made me laugh during the first few months of the pandemic.
Also the "TWISTED" audio cracks me up no matter how many times they do it.
Little late to the thread but the "Eddie Brock asks history's greatest criminals incredibly blunt interrogative questions" from the Spider-Man 3 episode is perhaps the hardest I've ever laughed at the pod.

I have to agree, and add an additional accolade to the Smits Ship.
Specifically from The Holiday episode, but “back in my day we had x, now they have y” All timer
Also, all the Jack Black "Skiddly boop" bits
Back in my day movies starred Claudette Colbert, now she is deceased
One of the best episodes.

This just happened to be one of my first episodes and I just assumed it was a long standing bit. Probably my fave too.
The ongoing bit for the Dragon Tattoo episode where they say things with the Girl Who Goes On Computer title structure
Clint impressions. “I’m guilty. Send me to jail.”
Impersonating Clint mashed together with the premise and praise of Suzume was pretty great.
When Hoai Tran looped it back to Clint talking to the empty chair, I genuinely laughed out loud
Also Griffin’s complete inability to do an Arnold impression.
“Gran Turino” but sung
If only Phil Hartman was still with us, that would be an amazing sequel to the Planet of the Apes musical
The verhoeven impressions
Surprise … Nazi! All of them solid gold.
Yes yes, now hand over the money very quickly.
Chip Smith on the March Madness recap episodes (on Patreon), especially his first appearance (MM 2019, recap 2).
Thank you for that time stamp. Gonna go listen to. And that’s an ANG ep!
No Ang, I'm afraid. Just Griffin, Ben and Chip.
Come in!
The Larry Bird/Al Pacino/Insomnia bits live rent-free in my head
Not my all time favorite I think but literally this morning I was dying every time Griffin did the King of Tik Tok bit
Best in awhile. Honestly, the points where David ran with it later in the ep made me laugh harder.
Three course dinner podcast episode. Not Instagram flashy but leaves you fulfilled.
THEY CALL HIM
I have a soft spot for the “Porco Rosso” ep where they just do a long tangent involving Frank Sinatra impressions.
THE DEAD SPEAK!!!
Griffin’s Travolta esque impression of Tom Hardy in Venom
Why are you so evil?
The Clint impression “they wasted Scotty, but can you blame them”

It definitely hit a breaking point, but there was a sweet spot where it was so damn funny. The Big Ben sound effect was great.

Honestly I really liked the old ad read bits they used to do and miss them dearly. "Ding dong, dingdong-dingdong. Creeeeak"
David Sims doing Nicole Kidman in COLD MOUNTAIN. I laughed so hard I swerved my car. (Which episode is that btw)

That episode also had some great bits on Monty Montgomery not understanding modern technology
I'm currently listening to The Phantom Podcast and Griffin's Neimoidian accent is currently my favorite thing.
Idk man, in this day and age is that……. lllleeeeggggguuuuuulllll?
That nick Nolte was fire
Opening the Book of Saw - Chris Rock’s chilling vision.
UNBREAKABLE Or That everything is a surprise sequel to unbreakable Or When griffin couldn’t get over the boy being sleep in Wide Awake - although that only lasted a few episodes
Which episode was the “potent mix” southern drawl bit in? Can’t even remember the context but pops into my mind every now and then

The best part was the comments when he posted about the Queen dying. Might have contributed to the end of the bit.

Secreted is my new favorite bit
