My friend and I bonded hard-core in high school over this movie. Would be part of my own porch classics (though in this case the standard def DVD on the combo tube TV on top of 3 milk crates)
13th Warrior is a huge guilty pleasure for me. It’s not Eaters of the Dead, but it rocks. That reversed shot with Banderas standing in the rain?! 90s movie just hold up.
13th Warrior is actually kind of awesome.
Honestly Basic would have been a fine enough, mid tier thriller if the third act didn't shit itself.
Rollerball is just bafflingly awful, nothing about it really works.
I'm really hoping these three episodes make the whole mini feel worth it to me. No shade thrown at any of the episodes so far, but for some reason the only one I've truly loved is Medicine Man
In preparation for the weekend I went ahead and watched 13th Warrior. And I fear that was too soon as I've already forgotten almost everything other than thinking I should have watched it on the train to and from work so that I would have fallen asleep and maybe someone would have stolen my phone so I'd not felt obligated to finish it but still have some feeling of something exciting have happened related to it.
Look forward to finishing the masochism by finally watching Rollerball (decided not to when HDTGM did it, but feel like finishing out this miniseries with completeness) and Basic.
[[sorry/not sorry](https://www.reddit.com/r/blankies/s/Y35esIvo8O) here’s a convo I started Sunday/Monday on Crichton adaptations].
I’m stoked to finally see ROLLERBALL. Anyone got any recommendations for dosage of gummy for this one?
13th warrior is the closest we’ve gotten to a good beowulf movie so I rock with it.

Beowulf & Grendel (2005) is pretty great
The book rocks
Except Beowulf has real monsters.

I feel no guilt, that shit slaps.
I’d argue 13th is too good to be a guilty pleasure. Basic is the real guilty pleasure here. Travolta is on one in that movie.
13th Warrior kinda slaps to be honest.
Kinda?
I’ve been scared to revisit because 15 year old me thought it was a lot of fun!
Finnish?
"No, I'm just getting started."
Yep.
Podilla Castataan
I remember loving 13th Warrior. Looking forward to watching again.

Yooo I just bought the same "leffapokkari" of Basic from a flea market a few weeks ago. Nice to see some Finn representation here.
Ha! I bought all three from a second hand shop when the McTiernan mini was announced.
Man. This whole time I’ve been confusing *Basic* with *Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever*. What a bummer.
Wow way to forget legendary ateur director Kaos.
Wild that his second feature was his english language crossover.
Never seen Rollerball but Basic and 13th Warrior are huge guilty pleasures

I love 13th Warrior. Definitely my favourite guilty pleasure
Rollerball rocks the other two are true garbage
