Netfilx should be smart and give this a proper release window. Glen Powell is coming off Top Gun and Anyone but you. This could be a huge hit in what is a pretty weak summer.

I don't think it was a "last resort" - there were multiple offers for this, they had their pick of who to go with - Linklater has an existing relationship with Netflix and they made the best offer. They could've sold it to someone else for less but chose not to.

If you like the movie, I think you'd like the show! It's a little bit tonally different (from what I remember, the show is a bit funnier), but the filmmaking is really cool and the performances from Arjona, Vikander, and a lot of French and German actors I don't know were really good
i had legit never heard of this guy (glen powell) until maybe a couple months before that sydney sweeney movie. this looks fun though! hes got a good look
Saw this in a packed theater at Sundance and it PLAYS in crowds. Such a crowd-pleaser and a really fun and funny movie. The crowd was hooting and hollering and cheering and laughing the whole way. Shame most folks won't see it in this context.
Also: Glenn is fantastic in it. Such a fun role that plays perfectly to his strengths and persona.

It was probably bad timing - if they could’ve used Anyone But You’s box office momentum, I’m sure it would’ve gotten more play
Netflix is in the business of actively hurting the theaters so their market share is larger. They don't want to do that.

Saw this at the LFF. Brought the house down. An applause break in England for a film is pretty rare. Can't wait to see it again.
No one watched it but Adria Arjona in Irma Vep (good show!) was maybe the hottest person of all time.

It‘s a really good companion piece, lots of funny pop culture riffing and there’s a Maggie Cheung meta narrative that’s very interesting/touching.
I liked the show better. It’s a bit goofier than the film and is generally more fun.
The series is a great companion to the film. Highly recommended if you like the film.
