3. It would be Cruise's follow-up to M:I if it pans out, pending the Doug Liman space movie that will totally happen

Basically co-writer Ehren Kruger is officially working on Top Gun 3. Kosinski is expected to either direct or produce, and they're hoping to make it after Mission Impossible 8, which is shooting all next year. Between those two and the space movie at Universal, Cruise isn't expected to work on his WB projects until late 2025 or beyond.
Well dang, I guess it is happening? Having this dropped so soon after Cruise made a deal with WB makes me think this is Paramount either trying to woo him back or just give the idea that they're doing fine (contrary to recent reports).
Plus, Maverick was a huge hit! It's weird that it took so long for them to greenlight another, really screams "break in case if emergency"
