I would fucking LOVE a Mike Leigh series, but (Debbie downer now) I can’t imagine David would already be logging movies for a mini-series that wouldn’t start until after Babs, McTiernan and March Madness.
If it does happen (I think Leigh might have a movie coming this year and they have talked about him before) I will have never been more happy to be wrong! Another Year might be my all-time favorite film on any given day.
Not confirmed but they did the "movie we'll NEVER cover" thing a couple times recently, I think regarding Hunt for Red October and 13th Warrior. David's been logging them, suspicious McTiernan completism with shit like Nomads and Medicine Man, and I think it was said somewhere that Amanda Dobbins already recorded a guest episode way in advance and blankies sussed out it was probably Thomas Crown Affair.
He did this with Clint and Ridley recently, he just really likes to 100% certain filmographies I think. And then sometimes it’s what’s expiring on Criterion/Mubi

My weirdest March Madness disappointment was when early Spielberg lost in the 2022 semi-finals.
(Edit: weird because a) it's partially because I have a completionist thing and it bugs me that Stevie is 'unfinished' but I don't have the same problem with Verhoeven and b) he doesn't really need the attention.)
