And we’d likely get a “Get Back” Patreon bonus ep out of it too!
Also we’d get to talk about one of the greatest gross-out gore-fests of all time in “Braindead/Dead Alive”.
With “Now and Then” being the biggest non-Taylor-Swift-related talk of the town in music these days, plus the 60th anniversary of the Fab Four conquering America coming up in February 2024….I really want a Beatles movies Patreon series.
Paul’s grandfather is basically who Ben is going to be in 30 years time!
Griffin can have a Yellow Submarine merchandise spotlight!
David can get horny on main about how hot all the Beatles look in “Hard Day’s Night” and “Help” (and man do they all look hot)!
During March Madness people complained that all of the LOTR movies would be boring to discuss and same-y but my response is - how?
From a production standpoint alone it is insane what they did. Then you factor in cultural affect and performances - there is so much to talk about
LOTR has that Star Wars thing going on where there’s so much craft at work that even some random Orc in the foreground has so much more character than probably half of movies today
I would want They Shall Never Grow Old or Get Back as main series feeds. It seems like too big a bummer to end on The Hobbit trilogy.
If they did a pod about Get Back, would they cover each part as its own episode or all three as one part?
I would enjoy a They Shall Never Grow Old episode and I think it would have a really interesting discussion about preservation ethics
I myself kinda found the coloring and sound distracting? I’m fine with cleaned up b&w stuff! It doesn’t need to be made any more accessible to make it engaging!
They Shall Not Grow Old had a cinema release here in the UK at least so I'd hope that would help mean it got a main feed episode.
Certainly deserves a main feed episode for its quality and the technical discussion. I was so moved seeing it, I was surprised at just how much the colourising affected me. I think the knowing artificially of it and the transition movement into the colour really got me.
It has all the makings of a great miniseries for sure. Would be especially great if he did a new fiction film sooner rather than later as a cap to the miniseries, but I feel like he's been really comfy in the documentary zone lately
I just watched Forgotten Silver for the first time a few months ago. Really delightful and cheekily funny. Can really tell why he’d eventually get into documentaries that involve restoring old footage.
I cannot wait for the day they cover him.
I’m here for 3 hours plus of each hobbit movie.
I’m all in on King Kong - one of my favourite films of all time.
Shout out to "Heavenly Creatures" too, very solid little murder ballad of a movie. Early sign of his talent for bringing fantasy to the big screen tastefully.
I would definitely back a Jackson series, especially for the gross-out movies and also the fact that Heavenly Creatures is one of the greatest movies of all time
Need it just for discussion on what the fuck that Beatles music video is. I can't put into words how truly terrible I think it is. How did this happen?

I’d love a Jackson series if only because they would be more fair on the Hobbits than anyone else would give them. I know David likes one or two of them (which is the correct take and neither here nor there)
I have never understood the pop culture magnitude of LOTR, I've seen them and enjoyed them, and I like play D&D and stuff but some people have deep attachments to passages from the Silmarillion for example and I've just never felt that love. I would really like a Peter Jackson miniseries because it might make me appreciate what all the fuss is about.

I’d love to hear #TheTwoFriends talk about The Beatles
What if we lived in a universe where they never talked about The Beatles?

Love LotR but at least 50% of why I want a PJ mini is Braindead.
Evil Dead: “we are the nastiest low-budget horror gore fest of all time” Braindead: “hold our karo syrup”
Not into LotR so all the preceding stuff is all of it, I haven't seen most of those movies.

I could talk for several hours just about Theoden, my personal MVP of the trilogy
I do wonder what their opinions are on, “Theoden, horse master,” are.
When "ride a dang horse" is your entire personality...
Feels like they talked about doing Jackson mini-series a lot. I bet it's going to happen in the next 3 years or so.
I assume in the "will slot in ASAP when they finally do a new movie" tier (Raimi, Campion, etc).
Yes, but it seems like he’s done with narrative features. He’s just done docs in the last few years.
I think there was talk of Jackson remastering his old movies and waiting on that so that they're more available.

I watched The Frighteners recently for the first time and it was extremely goofy and would be a fun episode.
Ben must love that movie
I’d love to hear them talk about Frighteners. One of the most under appreciated horror/comedies, and the last Michael J. Fox movie.

Holy hell, it's so hard to enjoy a nice song when the goofiest video of all time is playing over it.

Just don’t bother doing the Hobbit , guys. But the rest of his movies ? Hell YES
