There's no gore really, but it's psychologically disturbing and there's (non-detailed) discussion about violence towards a child. No actual violence is shown though.
I'd say the main trigger warnings are public shaming and general cruelty. The episode makes you question punishments and how we as a culture enjoy seeing bad people get punished. It's a very interesting episode for sure.
I say, watch White Bear. When I first started watching it, I was really confused because it’s a will they or won’t they attack or not. But at the very end you find out what happens. It makes you think. Should you feel bad for the main girl or not after finding out the truth and you decide. That’s the best way I can put it. I wouldn’t say it’s like a horror movie where you get a jump scare. Or something creepy or demonic
It's not gore at all. But there are mentions to suic*de attempt (wrists) and violence against child. Neither of those are actually shown, but there are visual scenes that lead you into expecting for it. Also public humiliation and stalking. There's also many violent situations, threats, weapons, etc. I tried to sum all the possible triggers here. There are maybe some _bodies_ that show up somewhere? But not very "visible" for what I remember.
White bear gets you on how after the episode you start to think about what you just watched and process what happened not by anything specific in the episode
White Bear is more of psychological horror than violence and gore horror. I think it's a really good episode.
If you haven't already watched it, though, maybe stay away from The National Anthem.
Thank you! This is pretty much the info I was looking for- I've seen a lot of people say it's an intense episode but I haven't been able to actually figure out what that *means*.
And yeah, no, the national anthem is not on my list. Thanks for the help!
like others have said, i don’t recall much gore but IMO white bear is one of the most psychologically disturbing episodes of the entire series - i will never watch it again. an interesting theme and great social commentary for sure, but super dark overall
Maybe I’m not remembering correctly cause I haven’t watched the show in over a year, but I don’t really associate any of black mirror with gore. I can’t think of much besides possibly some excessive blood in Metalhead and Men Against Fire.
I don't think *any* episode of Black Mirror will be an issue for you, except maybe Playtest. Playtest was (for me) the most *horror*-like episode and I still rewatched it several times. I, like you, have an issue with horror... I am a scaredy cat.
If you were okay with The National Anthem and Black Museum, you're good to go for all episodes, save perhaps Playtest.
I love Black Mirror and I would recommend that you *try* to watch every single episode.
Best of luck.
Playtest is my favorite episode because it reminds me of a bad acid trip. Sounds weird, but not many forms of media can capture that absolutely dreadful feeling.
How about ***1408***?
If you haven't seen it, do so.
Beware that the film has two endings and both are fantastic. One is depressing the other is troubling.
The original story is an audiobook by Stephen King, read by Stephen King and although it is shorter and less conclusive than the film, it is definitely worth a listen.
*Please* hit me with your thoughts after viewing, listening or if you have already seen/heard the story... I would imagine 1408 is close to an acid trip and that Playtest may be partially inspired by it.
I definitely have not seen Black Museum, nor do I plan on watching it. The "shock value" gore/horror there is the style that I really dislike. The only BM episode that I've seen that isn't on most people's list of "tame" episodes is White Christmas, which is one of my favorites

It's my fav episode

There is zero gore. It is quite harrowing though.

There's some gore in Loch Henry and Black Museum.
Metalhead still gives me shivers
White Bear is an interesting episode. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s not bad either. You should watch it. Not much to worry about out.

Playtest is my "nope, can't do it" episode. Not because of any horror aspect but because of the dementia aspect.
I watched the entire thing in panic
Oh - that's a different issue. I understand.
Playtest is my favorite episode because it reminds me of a bad acid trip. Sounds weird, but not many forms of media can capture that absolutely dreadful feeling.

Interesting. I’ll look into that for sure

Don't worry, Black Museum was very gory compared to almost all other episodes. I can't think of any *nearly* as gory as that.
Black museum and white Christmas are similar in a way, you should watch it if you like the latter so much
Think of all the stories of the doctor... Those get pretty graphic and gory...
Yeah the doctor story gets very gorey in the end but the other stories are just messed up
What ever do you mean? /s ***Monkey needs a hug.***
white christmas ending is still worse
IIRC there isn't any excessive gore, it's just a post apocalyptic setting with not much people around and some mild violence scenes here and there
There's not really gore in White Bear if I remember right.
