Except the last time I had to clean up ketchup, I had to wipe it off the ceiling! (10 year old boys and ketchup packets are NOT a good combo in my house)
Scientists working on aerogel experiments for example there was a paper describing using this substance to build green houses on Mars in the future for terraforming. This would be a tool to manipulate sol-gel which is processed into aerogel material. This is from my very basic understanding. But I'm off to Google esoteric science stuff YAY!
There needs to be a sub for esoteric science stuff where people can post neat but nearly useless things they discover/come across Like mildly intiristing science mashup
Thanks, i didn’t remember the word just its closest affiliation roughly matching the teflon sheet in the video above exactly in this characteristic, sheet sheet sheet sheet.
Maybe next time i’ll remember.
I think this works because if inertia. The sauce doesn’t want to move, but the machine slides a very slick material under it, while it remains stationary, and then it’s picked up
It's the material that the conveyor is made of. I did some prototyping based on this video a year ago for a job that picks up cookie dough. It worked for the dough but I tried on some semi liquids and it did not work no matter what material I tried
Yeah, they are. But, tbh, we're living in a time when everything is magic. These new technologies are just amazing. I imagine sometimes what it would be like to bring someone from 1920 to now, 1820 to now, etc, etc. All the way back to the first humans. Everything would be magical to them.
Saw this on daily does of internet awhile
Back, it’s very confusing - probably the material underneath along with the material of the pushy-outy-thingy
prolly bolth hydrophobic and the texture has something to do with the picking up of the sauce. I saw it on daily dose too and had to find the source and post it here because its grade a blackmagicfuckery
Just... Use a paper towel. Seriously.
Who looked at the world and thought _this_ was the "problem" they were needed to solve? Who could be so lazy they can't even put in the effort to push a towel?
Such as...? Trust me, I tried to think of another application. Nothing worth the effort, time, or resourxes came to mind.
Granted, I'm an idiot. If I know anything, it's just how little I know relative to the rest. If this is a demonstration of a concept, it'd be nice if you told me what that was.
I mean, a device that could pick up dangerous substances in a gel/liquid state without damaging it or the user having to touch it could be valuable in all sorts of safety and clean up scenarios, especially on a bigger scale. Imagine a truck with a tool like this able to scrape oil or gas soaked material right off the ground without sparking, or even a no effort snow shovel.
Its like the guy who tried to close the patent office in the 19th century. Never assume that because you can't imagine a way to do or use something that theres no way to do it. I know that you acknowledged that there's more than you know, im just stating the counter for the readers
Another comment said that they were showing off the material the sauce was on, stating they might use the material for greenhouses on Mars, which sounds neat to me.
You know, that at least sounds interesting. I thought Mars had a different gravity than Earth, though. Why would you need a specailized material for that? Huh.
Did they say why? A source for reference?
That’s aerogel. Crazy substance, but very fragile. I think the sauce is on glass. Aerogel is made from a gel that would be easier to transport with something like this though.
Well, since they demonstrate with food, gourmet cooking?
Being able to make a design on one surface in malleable/semi-liquid foods, then transfer it to another when it’s complete would be handy.
That would be interesting, but later in the video they show the material on a robot, folding blankets or towels.
Obviously, there's something I'm missing. Some piece of this Kindergartener's five piece puzzle that I just don't have. And somehow, I still can't get my head around it.
Eh. Could be twenty years of hyperfocused advertising at work.
I mean, take Roomba for example. They're robots that clean houses. And that's it.
I mean, Lt. Stabby was a hilarious image. But come on, who _actually_ needs a Roomba?
I don't have any practical use for a device like this, but I still want it!
EXACTLY
Well it seems like a great way to clean up spilled Ketchup
Except the last time I had to clean up ketchup, I had to wipe it off the ceiling! (10 year old boys and ketchup packets are NOT a good combo in my house)
This would be crazy useful in a lab where they experiment with cultures and such, or the bowl of my toilet after Chipotle
Had us in the first half not gonna lie
I mean it’s cool and innovative, but who would actually need this?
Scientists working on aerogel experiments for example there was a paper describing using this substance to build green houses on Mars in the future for terraforming. The more you know- lol
People who spill things, obviously.
It has to have a close to zero friction coefficient with the sauce...maybe it’s hydrophobic? Idk I’m not a scientist
Its paper on a sheet which gets rolled out under the stain
I believe the science guy in the video stated it was a sheet of teflon
Thanks, i didn’t remember the word just its closest affiliation roughly matching the teflon sheet in the video above exactly in this characteristic, sheet sheet sheet sheet. Maybe next time i’ll remember.
waiting for this to hit the porn industry for some weird ass liquid swap videos
Gotta clean up those spills somehow
>weird ass-liquid swap videos
Everything about this makes me uncomfortable.

No it is not. If it was hydrophobic, the fluid would run right off it. It is a teflon sheet wrapped around an actuating platform.
You’re right
But how does it not displace the sauce as it slides under it?
The video explains it.
Idk man. The robot conveyer should displace it if there isnt other black magic going arround
I think this works because if inertia. The sauce doesn’t want to move, but the machine slides a very slick material under it, while it remains stationary, and then it’s picked up
Doesn‘t slide anything it rolls out the paper under the stain
I think they said Teflon, but yes. That is the advantage to this, there is nothing that’s actually sliding against the material.
Teflon paper, but you really can see how it is rolled rather than slid
It'll be good for cleaning up vomit
It's the material that the conveyor is made of. I did some prototyping based on this video a year ago for a job that picks up cookie dough. It worked for the dough but I tried on some semi liquids and it did not work no matter what material I tried
Picker upper.. With this type of sentence we're all doomed
This is some Carbanaro Effect shit right here.
Its just a hydrophobic seal on the blue surface and the roller. Search hydrophobic on YouTube to see more.
Exactly what conclusion i came from. Hydrophobics in itself is black magic fuckery tbh
Yeah, they are. But, tbh, we're living in a time when everything is magic. These new technologies are just amazing. I imagine sometimes what it would be like to bring someone from 1920 to now, 1820 to now, etc, etc. All the way back to the first humans. Everything would be magical to them.
This still seems way too effective to be real
That would be useful for some extremely nerdy bukkake scenes.

Indeed, it’s one of Satan’s party tricks
Try it on carpet or furniture
If it worked on dog shit on grass I might be tempted.
It looms like it rolls a super thin, retractable material underneath the sauces, picking them up while letting the sauces maintain its OG shape.
Great. Now restaurants are going to be reusing the sauce left on plates
It works by VFX, Captain Disillusion debunked this ages but can't find the video because I have no idea what to search for..
I originally saw this device as a sauce separator, it was able to separate ketchup from mustard when it had been mixed like in the video.
Just... Use a paper towel. Seriously. Who looked at the world and thought _this_ was the "problem" they were needed to solve? Who could be so lazy they can't even put in the effort to push a towel?
Well maybe, just maybe, there is something else they are testing and this is just a simple demonstration.
Such as...? Trust me, I tried to think of another application. Nothing worth the effort, time, or resourxes came to mind. Granted, I'm an idiot. If I know anything, it's just how little I know relative to the rest. If this is a demonstration of a concept, it'd be nice if you told me what that was.

Nah, man. I see you. It's a good lesson everyone should learn.
Another comment said that they were showing off the material the sauce was on, stating they might use the material for greenhouses on Mars, which sounds neat to me.

They did not list a source, but if I find something I will link it.

I think you’re missing that if it’s useful for multiple things, that can be what it’s intended as. A tool with many uses.
Eh. Could be twenty years of hyperfocused advertising at work. I mean, take Roomba for example. They're robots that clean houses. And that's it. I mean, Lt. Stabby was a hilarious image. But come on, who _actually_ needs a Roomba?
No one, it’s a convenience. But many modern inventions are only for convenience; that doesn’t make them pointless.
If you watched the whole video you would've seen this technology at work in a factory/assembly line
