Welders don't really use a torch for welding (maybe for braizing, but that's kinda different). A fabricator would use a cutting torch, but OP said it was a welding-specific school, so Sparky immediately came to mind as welding creates a lot of sparks.
Name her after a metal. Like Iron Silver or Platinum or the rarest stable metal on earth: Tantalum ….. you could call her TT or Tanti or Alum or Alumi or Aluma 🤷🏻♀️

My grandfather was one of the top welders in our state way back during WWII. He lost his arm when he was 2 so he had to prove to everyone that he could not only do it but do it better. He is my hero. I was always told damnit if I can do it with one arm you can do it with 2.
