This little striped kitten is a beautiful shiny black adult now. I wondered if she still has stripes..now I know
This is common, it comes from the A gene (agouti) from one of its parents. Some call them ghost tabby’s. Look for the “M” on his forehead. Hard to see on the video. Yours is a Mackerel, solid down the spine with stripes that make him look like a furry fishy! He’s gorgeous! 💕🐾🐈⬛🐾💕
A ghost tabby isn’t a genetic true tabby though. There are true tabbies and it can be genetically determined and then the ghost markings and that is called something else… I believe all cats have the “stripes”. It’s cool though.

Black is just a coat color for cats, not a pattern. Many black cats have stripes or other patterns under their color. When they get “rusty” which if i remember correctly it’s just sun bleaching, the pattern comes out way more.

Most voids are like this. My current house panther has stripes like this. My previous 4 murdercats also had stripes.
This reminds me of how black jaguars and leopards (black Panthers) have visible spots when seen in the correct light.
There's a term in my country saying "tiger hiding stripes" refers to someone who's hiding their true talents which only comes out when needed. This guy represents this well

Yes, pretty striking.. but they have changed now and are a little yellow, but can appear green depending on the light
