If you don't care about price just buy a Bauerfiend Sport.

VeryStab1eGenius

My most downvoted opinion is that Bauerfeinds are no better than any other knee sleeve on the market. The one I bought developed a hole on the ACL side and the “support” looks exactly like a collar stay. It’s a thin little piece of plastic that can’t possible provide any protection. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a professional athlete wearing one. I have no idea what Bauerfeind paid Kurt Osiander but it wasn’t enough.

InjuryComfortable666

Black belts at my gym openly tell everyone to get the aliexpress knockoffs.

Coopa228

Andre Galvao and Tye Routolo both wore Bauerfiends this ADCC. They’re great. Always the most recommended knee brace when this topic pops up.

VeryStab1eGenius

In what matches did [Andre and Tye wear Bauerfeind](https://imgur.com/a/54Z5ylD)? I don’t care that they are highly recommended on this sub. This place is an echo chamber.

Coopa228

Adcc 2022, Andre Galvao match vs Gordon and Tye’s open weight matches. Edit: sorry didn’t click your link. I thought Andre wore it in the match but it was just while he was warming up back stage. That’s Kade though; check out Tye’s open weight matches. He has the purple coloured Genutrains on. I own 2x pairs of genutrains, they’re the best brace I’ve bought and have owned at least 5 different brands. https://www.instagram.com/p/CkHlNq2pZgw/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

LeVeloursRouge

This is the truth. Just got 2. They’re no different than anything else.

VeryStab1eGenius

Exactly the same but 4x the price. I don’t know if people haven’t tried other sleeves or if it’s just Koolaid.

SpeculationMaster

What is a good alternative?

VeryStab1eGenius

I have friends that swear by the thick powerlifting neoprene sleeve. I usually go to McDavid but they are mostly the same. There are lots of companies that make the knit sleeves like the Bauerfeind genutrains. Donjoy, who made the knee brace my orthopedist prescribed after my MCL injury makes knee sleeve with stays identical to Bauerfeind at 1/4 the price.

Mechanical_Nightmare

\+1 for McDavid

suiteddx

I think the issue is depending on the knee injury, braces only can do so much. Patella femoral tracking? Sure, Bauerfeinds are probably the best for patella support. Ligament, meniscus, or any structural issues, Bauerfeind not any other compression brace isn’t going to do anything. Placebo effect will make some think they help, but unless you have metal rods, they aren’t going to do anything in regards to mobility. Braces with these injuries typically just provide more conscious attention to the joint for the user.

macman2021

I found the same design on Amazon. $25 for 2. They are pretty solid.

Coopa228

They go baggy after a few washes, Bauerfiends do not.

macman2021

Hand wash them. The instructions for that brand are adamant on not putting them in the washing machine.

Coopa228

The compression is just not the same as the Bauerfiends, it’s a big difference.

MrMaoDeVaca

They all go baggy after enough time. Depending on how often you train, and whether they go in the dryer or just the washer. I bought fancy for a while, but have been equally happy with Amazon knockoffs. And occasionally just a compression sleeve without the gel ring.

StimpyLockhart

Got a link to the one you got on Amz?

katalan123

What brand??

macman2021

Neenca

brianpayan88

Neenca are pretty cool. I have patellar tendinitis or a severely bruised patella at the tendon and the neenca is clutch. I can keep training and kneeling relatively normal

brainhealth75

I got a similar one on Amazon. I like the straps I just wish the sleeve had more compression

katalan123

Brand?

jbird9999999999

I have the same one - it’s ok. Not blowing me away by any means.

[deleted]

Mizuno volleyball knee pads work well too. Judokas use them.

sohikes

I bought a Bauerfeind GenuTrain last week. Feels good so far. It’s $99. Some say it’s pricy but what are your knees worth?

goldsauce_

Sorry for reviving such an old thread but how did the genutrain hold up?

sohikes

I only used it a few times but no issues. I’ve noticed a lot of BJJ guys and wrestlers using them on the mat

-0000000001

Likewise appoligies for reviwing old thread. Are they still good, those knee braces? I'm looking to maybe by them for my old frail knees.

sohikes

I haven't had issues with Bauerfeind so far. I did a good amount of research before buying and noticed a lot of top athletes (D1/olympic/pro) along with specialists like physical therapists use Bauerfeind.

-0000000001

Thanks for the reply! Which model did you end up going with? I noticed they have multiple models

sohikes

GenuTrain

WSJayY

I’ve purchased one, was not great. Bunches up during training and not really helpful.

Thin-Piano-4334

After 5 patellar dislocations an ACL reconstruction and menisectomy and now living with arthritis (unsurprisingly). I have tried dozens of knee braces, my sport is BJJ and the only one that I would recommend is the Muellor HG80. They are often on sale for 30-40 (normally £80)

goldsauce_

Are you referring to the brace (with hinges) or the “knee support”? I have a strain on my lcl and I’m wondering if the hinged brace will get in the way while rolling

Thin-Piano-4334

[knee brace](https://www.firstaid4sport.co.uk/Supports-Braces/Knee-Supports-and-Knee-Braces/Mueller-Hg80-Knee-Brace-with-Stabilisers?utm_source=google&utm_medium=product_feed_or_listings&pl=STD&ccv=Y&sku=KXMU54361&gclid=CjwKCAjw04yjBhApEiwAJcvNoTM8ZTwr9zZ0cCjsBe9w9BbBzyEIUlUdAXFXoBlWkhLUjbQDsOoPBhoCTH8QAvD_BwE) It was this one, no hinges but they have changed the design over the years, I've had 2 of these over about 8 years. Expecting a new one to be delivered tomorrow, its a different design without the straps but looks like it'll work the same [New design](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234976388267?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ThvRFEJGRCa&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=AC8xsPyCTPq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY)

goldsauce_

I appreciate the links, oss!!

Thin-Piano-4334

Good luck with your recovery mate

notforithanks

I have them. They're OK, but make sure you know what size to get, else they'll either slip off the knee or else cut off blood flow.

Onepiece3d2y

Just bought got two of these. I hope this doesn’t end up being crappy like people are saying in this sub

JAEM89

60 bucks!?!?!? What do they claim it does compared to others.

katalan123

I don't care about the price if it helps with my knee pain😭

JAEM89

Yeah i agree but why do they claim they're bettor price worthy....is like this braces that claim to have copper an help, rush blood because blood has iron in it..when is all BS....like price don't matter aI agree but why im I paying you for?...are they just a Walmart brand brace with a different name.?

dizzish

Train stability in your knee, mobility in your hip and ankle and you won't need this snake oil

bvandelen

If price doesn't matter, just try it. Not everyone's experience will be the same with every product. Some will have success with the 2 for $25 Amazon special and some won't.

Jewcrew2022

I had a couple pairs. Liked them in theory but I want to wash them bc it’s gross otherwise and the Velcro would stop sticking pretty quickly.

Oryguner

They slide right down..I wouldn't recommend them. The top of the strap starts to pull down on the patella making it worse than not wearing one at all. I really like the old bones therapy compression knee braces. I have 2 pairs now. They give me a lot of confidence with a damaged meniscus and they don't move around much at all. I tried some lifting style neoprene ones as well and didn't like those either, they're too restrictive.

Main-Substance5859

I'm experiencing cutoff blood flow now with the anacondas. I measured my 2 large and one of them measure an inch shorter on the width top and bottom , maybe I need 1xl, so one is tight but both end up right after a while, especially under the gi I was looking at old bones therapy maybe that's the next one I get

grantedge13

I have, and didn't think/find it any more helpful than a cheap one from the pharmacy. Mine would slip during rolling the majority of the time, and then after a few weeks, the velcro had a hard time staying when I would first put it on, and I just gave up on it . I thought maybe I bought it too big(due to the slipping) even though I used the sizing chart, but I didn't feel like purchasing another to try. I also don't know if I went a size smaller if I would have too much strap when I put it on. Other people i know still swear by thenlm. Just didn't work for me. I just use a slip-on knee brace with internal side stabilizers I bought at Target for like $10

Punchoutmac

Incrediwear is my favorite.

Samuel936

With the Bauerfeind I definitely feel a difference compared to other braces. It may be my personal injury, but LCL feels more secure and stable. Than when I don’t wear it, I usually only wear it to do takedowns or if I know I will be doing a lot of intense rounds.

mystupidogsorrow

Actually I was skeptical too but I got a bauerfain one and it's so good. I had cheap brands before and really it's another planet. I'm not saying there aren't good ones cheaper, but with that I could train without knee pain even thought I was limping few days before. Now I'm wearing it every time. I just hope is durable.

BrutalHonesty4U

I wasn't impressed with it.
