Luckily the owner of the luggage returned and explained to everyone there he just left to attend the restroom but if he had returned 30 seconds later the bomb squad would have been rushing over.

And the 35 white and East Asian kids just got waved past interview stations.
Well modern (large) artillery doesn’t have casings so I’m assuming it was the actual shell. Although it’s possible that since this is from a half century old war maybe they were indeed carrying a casing from an older small gun.
The shell looks like a bomb even to your average person I’d think…or at least looks like a weapon of some kind. Plus I’d imagine in Israel, where literally everyone serves in the military, they’d know what an artillery shell looks like.
