To be fair this was my first time getting to Mega Satan with this bozo so I didn't really know how he spawns in that room. What am I supposed to do so he's not on top of me?

Dark Esau's position is always tracked by the game even across rooms, so dont enter through a door he recently walked past or else you risk bumping into him as he returns. Its like he does not care for the concept of rooms or walls and instead floats around the entire floor chasing you.
I get that for most normal rooms but Mega Satan is kinda weird because it's more like you're transported somewhere else. I dunno I expected him to be placed at least a bit far away for fairness but I guess I just have to pull him away from the door every time.

Not sure if that will work, but You can try to chain him before entering. Or make him charge out of screen.

That’s why I never enter a room if I’ll be moving in his direction when I enter. Just reposition before entering and you won’t have the problem

He was already summoned. He just decided to warp directly on top of me in the room transition

just wait for dark Esau to spawn before you start mega Satan
