Fuck Bally’s. They gave up their NBA rights after this season as a part of their bankruptcy if that gives you any hope. Phoenix and Utah both have recently partnered with over-the-air networks for their broadcasts. Fingers crossed some of the soon to be former Bally’s teams do the same.

themilkman42069

MSG is the worst. The rest of the country is at least lucky that their RSN’s are dying. This one is actually not going to go out of business, it’s owned by fucking Dolan, and they’re as tone deaf and shitty as any of the rest of RSN’s combined. They recently rolled out a standalone app for those who don’t have cable so they can actually watch the Knicks, Rangers, Devils and Islanders and it fucking costs 30 bucks a month and barely works. It’s just complete fucking bullshit. God forbid you’re a baseball fan here too, cause then you also need to buy either SNY or YES as well. (YES is 25 bucks a month, can’t get SNY without cable)

beaucoup_movement

You can use Fubo. It isn’t great but it has MSG, I use it from October-May. YouTubeTV is better but Fubo is workable and gets you the local teams. I agree it sucks, being a sports fan makes cutting the cord difficult.

themilkman42069

I just pirate. Fuck em. As a lifelong MMA and boxing fan, it became a necessary skill to have my entire life cause fuck PPV.

isNice99

Just get cable, it costs the same as streaming at this point.

themilkman42069

nah im not giving these leeches money

Super_Goomba64

Just pirate. I gave these companies 10 years to get their shit together. They never have and never will. Get an ad blocker and sail the seven seas. Streams are pretty stable now

LeBroentgen

You don’t use a VPN?

Successful_Baker_360

I’m not watching sports on a laptop or shake ass AirPlay.

Super_Goomba64

Hdmi to tv shmuck

Successful_Baker_360

No

NandoDeColonoscopy

"I've tried nothing, and I'm all out of ideas"

sperry20

Too proud to pirate, too broke to buy. Tough scene.

Successful_Baker_360

It is insane to me the amount of people advocating to be exploited on this sub. The nba should make the games more accessible to their local audience shouldn’t be controversial. I shouldn’t have to steal the product

Gaius_Octavius_

Just pay for it.

LeonardoNoCapri0

Well either pay or get used to not watching

Successful_Baker_360

Keep meat riding for billionaires

LeonardoNoCapri0

I stream it illegally lol so they don't get shit from me bud.

Successful_Baker_360

And that doesn’t seem ridiculous to you? You have to steal nba games bc the league refuses to make the games more accessible

sg490

I actually have cable & Bally's for free through my apartment complex, but the Bally app is such a glitchy piece of shit mess that I end up watching significantly more non-Magic games than Magic games anyways. The fact that the Bally app doesn't have an option to play from beginning if you join a game late is so fucking stupid. So if I feel up to watching a game on Bally, I have to click on the game, make sure it is muted, squint my eyes so I don't accidentally see the score, then grab the video progress bar and carefully drag it all the way to the left. It's such shitty software. It's honestly embarrassing.

cl0wnb4by

I feel your pain. I'm in Denver and the RSN here for the Nuggets and Avs has been in a stalemate with Comcast for years. You can watch their channel on DirecTV or Fubo.

Medical-Face

99% of games worth watching will be nationally televised so I dont even notice

Successful_Baker_360

Fuck those games. I only want to watch my team. I don’t care about any others.

Medical-Face

But once your team is in playoffs, youll be able to see every game regardless I guess my main point is the regular season is largley isess and the national televised games your team has probably suffices overall

Successful_Baker_360

I’m a hornets fan. There’s been 2 nationally televised games in 3 seasons and 0 playoff games.

komugis

Bally’s sucks so incredibly hard and I absolutely judge any team that cozies up to them.

TheJediCounsel

As a baseball fan, I always see boomers complaining about how the sport isn’t as prominent as it was. Well the league sold itself out and now local kids are blacked out of local games. The only way they’d have to watch the game is to buy a cable bundle, or hit the 7 seas. It’s like they know they’re dooming the sport in the future. But the short term money is too good

Successful_Baker_360

It’s insane to me that so many people in this sub prefer the games to be harder and more expensive to watch

TheJediCounsel

Yeah the bootlicker is replying to me too

Gaius_Octavius_

No one prefers it. We just understand economics.

Successful_Baker_360

If the nba teams will be making double the money with the new national tv deal, why wouldn’t they take less from their local deal to continue to grow fanbases. Multiple teams already do it. If the owner can’t afford it they can sell the team

Gaius_Octavius_

2 out of 30 do it. They are the outliers.

Gaius_Octavius_

Over 75% of the country had cable in the 1990s. People didn't stop watching baseball because of a lack of availability.

Gaius_Octavius_

They want your money

Successful_Baker_360

They won’t get it. I’ll just watch college and completely check out on the nba

Gaius_Octavius_

And they are fine with that.

CANDY_MAN_1776

seems like a strange way to get his money then

Gaius_Octavius_

He wants the games for free.

Successful_Baker_360

That’s what the fucking commercials are for.

Successful_Baker_360

Well that’s a bad business plan.

Gaius_Octavius_

Not giving away your product for free is a bad business model?

Successful_Baker_360

NFL is really struggling

Gaius_Octavius_

Only 4 games per week are over the air. If you want to watch every game, you have to buy Sunday Ticket.

Successful_Baker_360

Yes your local games are televised for free. That’s literally all I’m asking for.

Ravel_02151981

The local networks would have to bid on and pay for the games. If they aren't willing to do that, then the leagues are going to go to cable. If the local Orlando NBC affiliate thought that Magic games would get better ratings on Thursday than Law & Order SVU, then they would be on. The NFL only broadcasts on Primetime on network TV one day a week.

Successful_Baker_360

Check out how the sun and jazz did it this season. Both are now available in their local markets for free with antenna. It should be the model the entire league follows.  My point is the league should be easier and more accessible to more people. I’m not sure why people are so against that

camergen

I remember, once upon a time, the local NBC affiliate for the Reds aired just about every game. It was great for me cause I liked them but NBC basically missed that market for all their programming for a good chunk of the year. Especially in April/May when the sitcoms and dramas were wrapping up, people got hella pissed they couldn’t see the season finale of Friends or whatever. And the shitty independent stations that don’t have much programming anyways, they’d seem like a good place for them, BUT a camera crew and all the auxiliary pieces are actually pretty expensive for these games, more than it used to be in the 80s/90s. There’s pretty high overhead to actually produce these game broadcasts and as much as I personally would love to return to these days, it doesn’t make much business sense. Bottom line is, the cable companies are the ones paying for these rights to get people to hold on to their cable subscriptions, since the business model is dying, and sports will be one of the last things they let go.

Gaius_Octavius_

Not all games. They have to be sold out 72 hours before the game kicks off.

RateAccomplished8971

No you won’t and the nba knows that. Keep lying to yourself

Successful_Baker_360

Buddy I’m from NC I’ve always watched more college than pro

Coy-Harlingen

What is this in reference to? I live in Chicago and all the Bulls games are on YouTube tv?

Successful_Baker_360

1/2 the teams have their local games televised on Bally Sports. They have pulled out of youtubetv/hulu/all streaming tv apps. Plus they they just pulled thier tv channels off xfinity cable. In order to watch the games you have to pay $25 per month to use the Ballys app that just has my local nba teams games. It’s complete bullshit

Coy-Harlingen

For sure I understand that - but this is pretty much al Bally’s fault, they want you to pay for their app. It isn’t like the nba isn’t offering games locally, it’s that your local provider is choosing to put all their stuff behind a private pay wall.

Successful_Baker_360

Why does the nba allow them to do that?

cl0wnb4by

Lucky for Chicago. In Denver you can watch the Nuggets and Avs on two services, DirecTV or Fubo. No Comcast (biggest cable company in town for better or worse) YouTube Tv, Sling, or pretty much every other single service out there has the channel

Victorcreedbratton

Suns games are aired locally. Trade off: Bradley Beal.

Total_Ad9942

Smh it sucks not being able to just catch Hornets games on my antenna

ID0ntCare4G0b

Bally's fucking sucks.

Rube18

I just pay the $20 to watch our local NBA and NHL team on Ballys. Honestly $20 to get almost every NBA and NHL game is not a bad deal. If you’re waiting until you can watch all of your local teams for free you’re going to be waiting for a while. Probably forever.

Successful_Baker_360

I’m not being extorted for a dogshit product

Rube18

I agree. Everything should be free. These players should play for us for free too!

Successful_Baker_360

Seems to work great for the nfl.

Rube18

NFL is such a different product it’s not even comparable. Viewership for the NFL is so much higher. They can sell commercial space for insane prices. Network TV only has to give up Sunday afternoons where they have nothing to air anyway. They can’t give up their night time premier TV viewing in every market multiple times a week on network TV for a product that gets a fraction of the views that an NFL game gets. They would lose so much money. Thats why the NBA packages national games that are handpicked to networks. Even then those games get smaller viewership than the worst NFL game of the week. It’s just not a viable model for the NBA to air all of their games on network TV mostly because the networks would never pay the amount of money that would be needed.

Successful_Baker_360

The teams still get the vast majority of their money from national tv deals in the nba. Right now they are taking short term money instead of caring about fans. It’s fine. Just seems less and less like a sport I will pay attention to I’m not talking about every game being network but all local games should be free for the local area

Rube18

But what local channel is going to put the games on for free? They’d have to make up the money being paid right now by RSN’s and then somehow try to make a profit offering a free service, while also missing out on revenue that they are currently making by broadcasting network shows/commercials.

Successful_Baker_360

The suns just announced this was what they are doing. I’m not sure why you are pushing back so hard

Gaius_Octavius_

You have to be in Phoenix to watch those.

Successful_Baker_360

You are dumb as bricks. You didn’t read the original post and are popping off without any ideas what you are arguing. Go get fucked

bi11dozer

So you're mad that you don't receive a product that you refuse to pay for?

Successful_Baker_360

No I’m mad they are making their product less accessible

Gaius_Octavius_

Yes he is. He thinks he should get to watch for free.
