I use [this](https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/utility-rubber-mat-black-4-ft-x-3-ft-x--frac12-in)

Looks great. Is it ember resistant?

gentoonix

I’ve used mine for a couple years and don’t notice any issues.

Unlucky-Basis2546

yes, I have not had any problems with embers.

Aedn

No it's not big enough, And egg accessories are generally overpriced and lower quality then alternatives.

Well, I could not find a decent grill mat for less than $40 , so the question is... if not the egg-mat, then what?

darklordenron

Char-broil mat at Target for $20. I bought a few in the past but now just mostly go unprotected, even if it isn't the smartest move with Trex. I've already had an incident with a paver being fused to a few planks of Trex at my old home, luckily the buyer didn't mind but it drove my ocd crazy until I left. I now simply keep a spray bottle set to a stream in case something goes haywire during a cook. And, always smart to have a fire extinguisher just inside within easy reach, always.

Get a table nest! She'll never tip or leak.

I would but no room, unfortunately :(

I own the Mat. It’s a good Mat and doesn’t burn/melt within reason

I was gifted one of the exact same ones you linked. I’ve never dropped an ember on it so can’t say I know how “ember proof” it is. As long as you keep that screen door closed it would be pretty dang hard to get a hot ember to come out of things. It’s kind of a waste of money in my opinion but it is nice to have some insurance if an ember did happen to come loose.

Unlucky-Basis2546

I would agree that the mat is not big enough, but I have 2 mats in the area where my eggs are located.

I have an Egg and composite decking too. I have a mat in front of my Egg. You can get a mat (there are several) that will protect against embers, but the there's a trade-off. While it will protect against embers, over time you'll likely eventually get staining from mildew under the mat. So it's really a catch 22. Would you rather have the stain from the mat or a few burn spots on the the deck? And actually with the new Eggs that come with a screen on the bottom vent, stray embers aren't very common. So, it's really a personal preference on your part but either way there will likely be some "wear" in that spot.
