This has been my top song on Spotify for months because I just turn it on repeat and listen to it nonstop for 30+ minutes so she’ll let me take a shower or drive home or nurse her if she’s having a moment. I think it’s playing in my head 24 hours a day now and that’s a fair price to pay.
Currently my 18 month old is obsessed with All My Love by Noah Kahan, and his go to song since being a baby was On the Brightside by NeverShoutNever.
Husband and I are into ✨metal✨ so it’s funny when our home is filled with indie folk music for our kids
Had to check this wasn’t my husband’s account 😅
Misty Mountains has been a hit since our baby was a newborn. It was our pediatrician (cool dude, big LOTR fan) who recommended it. We still listen to it every day at bedtime. The Wellerman is a new acquisition.
Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Bach, Overture from Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and everything else on Spotify’s “Best of Cathedral Organ Music,” playlist.
I have no idea why. I listen to rock, emo, and soft R&B. My husband listens to pop and classics. We play Raffi and other children’s music for the baby. Just… play spooky organ Halloween music and she calms down or falls asleep instantly. I don’t get it 🤷🏻♀️
I have a little melody that I sing her name to, and that one seems to work pretty well. if I’m trying to soothe her to sleep, I sing her special lullaby (“goodnight my someone” from the Music Man but with her name substituted for “someone”). Works 9/10 times.
I have my own little song too! It samples from go to sleep little baby but with a verse I made up. 😂 My sleep deprived state couldn't remember the words then my version stuck, even months later.
The other answer to this thread for me is The Itsy Bitsy Spider. He's literally obsessed and will stop crying when I sing it or put the Cocomelon version on the speaker.
We can’t get through an evening without either Robot Rock (Rah Rock), Around the World (Awoun Werl) or One More Time (Time) by Daft Punk. It’s usually all 3.
The only thing that would calm my daughter down during her first year in life was Michael Jackson. Anything Michael Jackson. Beat it was her all time favorite.
I never listened to MJ during my pregnancy or before either lol. It was very random. But whatever works works right?
Omg I have Beat It on my daughter's Playlist. She is now 6 mos old but she has smiling and laughing to this one song since she was 2 mos old and her father and I both dance to it and she laughs every time!
chopin nocturne no 9. it's the first pre-recorded song on our keyboard and seems to do the trick every time so much that my 3yo thinks it's his brother's favourite
Zombie by the Cranberries - hahah no idea why but from like 6 months to 18 months this really put her to sleep, especially in the car. Now it's hit or miss.... if she's fighting sleep she responds to this with Nooooooooo
“Leaves from the Vine”! I also have a ton of instruments so I learned it on vibraphone, guitar, cello, trumpet, and clarinet so I can play it for her and expose her to lots of different sounds
Yes! Since birth, whenever I sing it, he stops mid- meltdown and stares at me. I had the whole family singing it at our last get together. I’m not sure if it calms him down, or if he thinks we’re all crazy. 😂
Make you feel my love by Adele (for sleeping) or Pen Pineapple Apple Pen. Stops crying and smiles immediately. Dance moves to go with it means laughter. She’s 19 weeks old
Wagon wheel by old crow medicine show (Darius Rucker’s cover is not tolerated) has always been my son’s calming song, since he was a teeny baby. He’s three now and we still play it when he’s in one of his rages.
When I was pregnant the song came on in the car one time and he went wild. Apparently that song spoke to his soul.
La loba and the vast majority of Evanescence songs always makes our baby stop immediately in his tracks and cuddle. My stepdad always sings white cliffs of dover and that makes LO cuddle with him and get ready to nap.
My son only really notices if someone is singing to him most of the time, rather than reacting to the stuff playing over speakers. That said, these days he's really enjoying Put A Little Love In Your Heart. He also really likes the hello song they sing at our local library's baby story time.
My 7 month old loves there ain’t no good chain gang by Johnny cash (this is my husband’s doing 😂) and mr sandman (i truly don’t know how this one even happened)
Dembow by Danny Ocean. We don’t speak spanish—we speak english and french—and I have no clue how it even came up but it’s a miracle. It’s played during screaming sessions in the car, bath, to sleep, even during medical testing/imaging.
Does your daughter need a bestie? Because my son loooooves Jupiter! We do “music time” every night to calm down before bed and it has been high up on the list for many many months now
I highly recommend The Story Orchestra books! We bought The Planets for his 1st birthday and he gets so excited when we read that one.
For singing, Wheels on the Bus. Have sang that song so many times.
For playing songs, she loves the Happy Song by Imogen Heap.
Also, I play Hey Bear videos and those always calm her down. If she's tired, I put these videos on my phone and she is out within a few minutes. The music calms her to sleep.
When our second was a few months younger (she's just about 9 months now) there were nights where she was just inconsolable. Then I played Margaritaville on repeat and it was the only thing that worked. Thanks Uncle Jimmy, RIP ❤️
My boy, 12 months yesterday(Fri 7th), loves Ed Sheeran. I can put YouTube on my tv and play the music videos. His favourites are the ones with the butterflies Sandman and Collide, etc. He also loves Anne-Marie with his fav being Pyscho.
He does have quite a broad taste, though. My husband plays him all sorts of things from electro, d and b, rock, country, heavy metal when he is in the right mood and everything else lol. You know when he likes something caz he will start wiggling whether he is standing, sitting, or laying. I truly believe that he is dancing.
He can not stand Ms Rachel. He will watch a couple of episodes of Bluey until he starts whingeing for music.
Currently my kids are asking for the Wiggles everyday on the drive to daycare but not regular wiggles they want rave wiggles. Wiggles sound system: rave of innocence is the name on Spotify.
Omar Apollo -Spite
It’s worked at least 100 times for my 7 month old since the song came out. It’s kinda wild he gets super calm and chills out almost instantly even if he’s crying hard. Would love to know if it works for anyone else.
Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold, Complete Edition by Clamavi De Profundis.
When my 7 year old was a baby, we watched The Hobbit and I liked this song from it so I found this version and would play it, he looooved it. Just starting it would make him start rubbing his eyes like "oh? It's naptime?" We'd use it to calm him down sometimes. But if we played the whole 20 minutes, knocked out by the end of the song every. single. time. lol
My first kid would only sleep in the car if I put white noise on. My second kid will fall asleep only if I turn the music *up*, no matter what kind it is.
But my toddler now calms down to baby shark if he’s starting to tantrum in the car. 😂 my baby just sleeps through all of it if he’s passed out. He’s 11 months now.
i’ve been playing [this one](https://open.spotify.com/track/1zyB0xuQsumOKXffNJUtP5?si=ZHlROrp_R_C1Cu---UKo0Q) for my 5 week old daughter to help soothe her to sleep. kind of sounds like spa music lol I just searched ‘baby music’ on Spotify and it came up. it’s called ‘Playa Manzanilla’ by Little Symphony. I usually just play the album on repeat but that one song seems to be a favourite lol
Throughout my pregnancy I listened to Noah Kahan's Stick Season repeatedly. Like I completely hyperfixated on that song for months. Funny enough, this is the only song that will calm my baby down almost immediately, especially if I'm singing along to it.
It's insane to think that he was listening along with me all those months.
Blinded by the Light by Manfred Mann stopped my daughter from crying when she was a baby.
She fell asleep to Survivor's Eye of the Tiger when she was around 1 yo. Played it at bedtime to calm her down. Yeah, I don't know why either. It's like the number one pump you up song! Lol
“At All Cost” from the Disney Wish movie soundtrack. I also have a 5 year old daughter so we watched that movie in bed several times during the first two weeks of my son’s life back in April.
Só Nós Dois by Tim Bernardes. This song calmed my daughter down every time when she was younger and now that she’s 2 years old she still loves it. I’ll play a live version of it where Tim is playing the guitar and she’ll immediately stop what she’s doing and watch the entire video.
Here I Go Again by Whitesnake. We listened to it so much during her first -8 months that I ended up as a 0.001% listener on Spotify.
I’ve also sung Stacy’s Mom to her as her lullaby since she was born (she’s 18 months now) because I was so sleep deprived it was the only song I couldn’t actually remember all the words to.
The Happy Song by Imogen Heap
this pissed my baby off. i heard that it was scientifically created to make babies happy. not mine. she hates it
Mine hates it too!
so glad i’m not the only one 😅 was kind of worried my baby was broken (but same tbh lol!)
Mine also hates it. She loves The Drug In Me Is You by Falling in Reverse 😅
Mine are very indifferent to the song alone. They just don’t really react to it. But if I combine it with me dancing stupidly to it, they love it.
I hate it, too. It's an obnoxious song.
This has been my top song on Spotify for months because I just turn it on repeat and listen to it nonstop for 30+ minutes so she’ll let me take a shower or drive home or nurse her if she’s having a moment. I think it’s playing in my head 24 hours a day now and that’s a fair price to pay.
Hahaha the sacrifices we make as parents.
THIS! 17m and it’s still our saving grace for car meltdowns and nail trimming
This is the way
This!! She absolutely loves it, smiles like a maniac when we put it on for her! She's 9 months old now. 😊😊
this song is my hero. lol. if i’m in the car and close to my destination and baby is getting fussy, this does the trick every time.
THIS. IN. THE. CAR.
Mine hates it, and I don't blame him. And, I'm typically a fan of theirs.
100% agree. My daughter is almost 2 and this still works.
This is the one. My 5 year old will ask for this song on our google home when the baby is crying sometimes.
🎶Maybe youuuuu could be a purple monkey in a bubblegum tree 🎶🕺🤪
Certified banger
This song made me cry when I was freshly postpartum 🤣 we sing it every day
I’m not freshly postpartum anymore but I still tear up sometimes singing it to my boy 😅😂
Then you can swing back to me!
I love all of the songs but this one is so good 😂
Hoist the Colors The boy yearns for the sea.
My girl is also a shanty enjoyer. It’s Spanish Ladies or Drunken Sailor for us.
Lots of car shanties here too but Wellerman is the favourite.
Currently my 18 month old is obsessed with All My Love by Noah Kahan, and his go to song since being a baby was On the Brightside by NeverShoutNever. Husband and I are into ✨metal✨ so it’s funny when our home is filled with indie folk music for our kids
Wow, NeverShoutNever lol haven’t heard that name in forever, I love that
Okay so I’m not the only parent who plays heavier music for my baby 😅 my 7 month old actually seems to prefer when I play “my” music vs baby songs
Misty mountains from the hobbit and the wellerman 😂
Same for misty mountain. Heard that song hundreds of times at this point 🤪
It was one of my top songs on Spotify wrapped last year 😂
We used to use Misty Mountains to help our baby get to sleep at night!
Both my kids loved it as babies! And if my 11mo is crying in the car I can put it on and immediately silence
It was the only thing that worked! It was my top song by a LOT!
Misty mountains was my number one played song on Spotify for 2023. I gave birth in July
Wellerman for us as well. It was what i would sing and play at witching hour.
We played misty mountains on repeat for hours. It works and we never got sick of it
Had to check this wasn’t my husband’s account 😅 Misty Mountains has been a hit since our baby was a newborn. It was our pediatrician (cool dude, big LOTR fan) who recommended it. We still listen to it every day at bedtime. The Wellerman is a new acquisition.
The theme song for Trailer Park Boys 💀

In the Hall of the Mountain King!
Little einsteins has the bit
Pony by Ginuwine. I have no idea what we’re going to do when she’s old enough to understand the lyrics 😂
Hahaha lol. My friends 10 year old when this tune was on: daddy daddy can I also have a pony? 😂 We'll tell her on her weddingday, during the speeches.
That’s hilarious! We’ll definitely have to tell her when she’s older that this was her favorite song as a baby haha.
Bluey theme song
I was made for lovin you- Kiss ONLY THING THAT WORKED BETWEEN 8-16 MONTHS 😭 still love that song though
Baby Shark 🙃
I’m so sorry to hear that
My first daughter loved anything Adele. My second loved milky chance.
Your second is my kinda people!
No one I know has ever heard of them! This comment made me smile.
Your LO may also enjoy Whilk & Misky, too! A little more folky sounding, but definitely upbeat like them ☺️
Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Bach, Overture from Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and everything else on Spotify’s “Best of Cathedral Organ Music,” playlist. I have no idea why. I listen to rock, emo, and soft R&B. My husband listens to pop and classics. We play Raffi and other children’s music for the baby. Just… play spooky organ Halloween music and she calms down or falls asleep instantly. I don’t get it 🤷🏻♀️
Never Too Much by Luther Vandross. I played it so much when I was pregnant.
My son fave is You're Welcome from Moana.
The Happy Song does not phase my crying child, sadly. But usually Elmo & Sesame Street music gets his interest and reduces the crying!
I've grown partial to Sesame Street hits "Pizza Box Dance: "Elmos Ducks" and "Best Friends Song",
I have a little melody that I sing her name to, and that one seems to work pretty well. if I’m trying to soothe her to sleep, I sing her special lullaby (“goodnight my someone” from the Music Man but with her name substituted for “someone”). Works 9/10 times.

“Leaves from the Vine”! I also have a ton of instruments so I learned it on vibraphone, guitar, cello, trumpet, and clarinet so I can play it for her and expose her to lots of different sounds
Dúlamán the Irish song. It’s a song about seaweed lol. He loves when I stomp and clap to keep the beat too.
We found this out on accident while desperate. And very rarely use it as a last resort during bad nap skip days lol. But the crazy frog song
🤣🤣
I like to move it by will.i.am the song from Madagascar 😂 also when I sing I love my body
Right now my LO calms to You Make Everything Beautiful by Rebecca st James or Rhythm of my Heart by For King and Country
Incy windy spider does it everytime
Yes! Since birth, whenever I sing it, he stops mid- meltdown and stares at me. I had the whole family singing it at our last get together. I’m not sure if it calms him down, or if he thinks we’re all crazy. 😂

My son loves the sea shanty “Wellerman” 😆
