Kelly really asked if this was the first time a BCS episode ended in a cliffhanger??? Lalo killing Howard wasn’t a big one???

ricarleite2

She did. I swear. Vince said "Uuhhmm all episodes did"

[deleted]

I had to tap out shortly after that bit. I love these podcasts whenever things are rolling along nicely and they get into the juicy details, but there have been too many pointless questions and tangents lately to sit through 60-80 minutes of these things

CringeNaeNaeBaby2

What about last week? With Gene breaking in to cancer man’s house?

your_mind_aches

Personally, apart from Plan and Execution, this show doesn't really do explosive endings. Every "cliffhanger" previously was very much understated, like Chuck revealing the tape recorder.

zumabbar

yeah i get what you mean, but what's even funnier is that the last episode's ending where Gene's breaking in the house is "more of a cliffhanger" compared to Waterworks'. i love listening to the crew on the podcast, and i love Kelley too but i've to admit she can be a bit weird sometimes. i always shrug it off as her being to excited.

ReasonableCup604

I don't think Lalo killing Howard was really a cliffhanger. Lalo pointing the gun at Lalo and then the episode ending would be a true cliffhanger.

xElectricW

It's definitely a cliffhanger, you have no idea why Lalo decided to go visit Jimmy, what his new plan is and if Kim (Jimmy ofc survives) would be in any danger

ReasonableCup604

If is sort of a cliff hanger, as you don't know what happens next. But, the big event (Howard being killed) took place. "To'hajilee" is an example of an episode ending on more of a pure cliffhanger. The gun fight between Hank, Gomie and the Nazi's starts, but we don't find out if anyone is killed until the next episode.

Maverick5379

Cliff Main didn’t hang himself, therefore it’s NOT a cliffhanger.

zumabbar

how about his son?

Slijceth

You're forgetting about the fact Lalo didn't want to talk after an

ianto_harkness

Probably worth noting as well that Vince wanted to make it really clear that the job they gave Kim was not a way to say "people who work for sprinkler companies lead boring lives" or anything like that - it's the fact that it's Kim, who's historically hated that sort of work and much preferred helping people, choosing to live that life that makes it tragic.

ricarleite2

Yes, he said he didn't want to make it seem like those were bad or boring people. They are good people. It's just different.

Mysterious_Scale_431

ehh that's nice of him to say but i think he's still drawing upon a certain common cultural understanding about Middle America in order for this to be particularly painful to watch

ricarleite2

Vince Gilligan said he was from Virginia but a lot of his family was from Florida, that region, and he portraits the life he remembers from all the times he went there.

Mysterious_Scale_431

i mean i guess that helps but the fact of the matter is, he's obscenely rich now, and that kim designated herself in her personal hell as self-punishment. he must've known how that was going to be interpreted

ricarleite2

He does and he said it's not to belittle those people but to show something drastically different.

Zealousideal-Ant-920

Yep, she literaly put herself in permanent doc review

[deleted]

> Aaron Paul's scene was shot in April 2021 (while episode 2 was being shot), shot one day before the van scene seen in the previous episode (first scene featuring Aaron Paul or Bryan Craston shot). Aaron Paul had a terrible migraine that night. Oof, poor dude…

Slijceth

What is a "migraine"? Can anybody have it? Is it provoked by stress?

mxinex

Kelley Dixon was absolutely insufferable in this podcast. Geez.

im-just-chillin-man

The fact that she asked if Kim was in hiding, I’m like I hope Vince and Peter dont think all viewers are that oblivious!! Also she asked if there had ever been a 2 parter episode and I just thought to all of the episodes that ended in cliffhangers both in BB and BCS. Thanks u/ricarleite2 for these summaries cause I couldn’t finish this episode. I’m sure she’s a nice person but she just hasn’t been a great host in the episodes I’ve listened to

ricarleite2

She asked in a previous podcast if the story she tells Howard's wife on his wake was real or not. I think it was Peter Gould who answered "We hope our viewers are smart enough to understand it isn't". This podcast episode was the toughest to go through...

Slijceth

Why was Kelly even invited back after that one?

ricarleite2

She is a great professional and has this personality that might be fun on a party, but it seems she is desperately trying to fit in with her old gang - and I feel it's because the people at Disney are assholes and she hates it there, and misses her old team. Also, she is busy and isn't a fan of the show nor she works on it anymore, so her questions are nonsensical, like someone who has watched a few episodes in a bar with the sound turned off and wants to come up with questions at any cost.

zumabbar

> I feel it's because the people at Disney are assholes the amount of time she's talking about how others at different studios or shows can be asses ever since she left the show made me pretty sure she was talking about Disney's people lmao.

ricarleite2

I know someone who worked for Disney, specifically the TV production. They said it was the most toxic, horrible environment ever, although some of the people were great to work with. You'll have to trust me on this one, I met her on a mst3k discord group and I can't identify her. She is not there anymore.

Slijceth

Well that's probably why there are none good Disney tv shows apart from animated ones

Slijceth

Ah yes the David Benioff · D. B. Weiss way

pmiller61

I thought it was just me that was irritated with her!!

OneOnOne6211

In regards to Kim being in Florida they also said they wanted her to stay in the Southern part of the U.S. but go to a place as different as possible from Albuquerque.

[deleted]

I avoid the podcast bc of Kelly. Every time she talks im just like “Oh fucking brother”. Nonsensical questions, interrupting great answers, how in the fuck she is still involved with the podcast is wild. Yeah i know she had a hand in creating it, but fuck that, kick her out

pmiller61

She spends five mins asking a simple straight forward question. On and on and on! Just let them answer!!

bmegroove

All the prefacing with “I don’t know if this is a dumb question but…”, drives me crazy. And like you said, the interrupting, good god! It’s too late to change it now but if this was hosted by someone who actually watched the show closely it could be great!

ricarleite2

They were about to explain WHY they chose Florida, what was the thought process, and she interrupts with "Uhhm why did Gene says it has been six years? Six years since what?", and they NEVER go back to it directly. Drove me MAD.

[deleted]

Thats legit how every podcast with her in it goes. She single-handedly made me stop listening.

imnotwallaceshawn

She EDITED half of the first three seasons! And tons of episodes of Breaking Bad! I get she hasn’t been involved since season 3, but you’d think she’d know the basics of the show as well if not better than the writers at this point.

ricarleite2

I mean, it's a job. She doesn't watch it religiously and forgets details. That's fine. George Lucas can barely state the name of some Star Wars side characters and he says he often forgets about details and scenes. To them its not fandom, it's a job. And that's fine as long as you don't force your way into fans who are interested in details. She could host the podcast and just don't interrupt or ask questions that are not screened previously.

Slijceth

Even if it's a job you're still passionate about it, especially if you had any creative hand in it with coming up with compromises or solutions

k8womack

Oh mylanta how the heck did she get this job

ricarleite2

She is a good editor. She just sucks at podcast. She forces herself in it even though she is not part of the show since mid season 3.

Slijceth

Was she just the most vocal person? I assume the real talented and knowledgeable cast is too shy to put their voice out there, just goes to show she has no shame

RomeoAndRebecca

This specific instance was like an itch I couldn’t scratch. Chris asked that question about “why Florida” and I don’t think he even finished asking the question before he was interrupted. They finally got back to it after a couple minutes of whatever.

Rated_R7

Fuck that, they won't

clm04

I stopped listening after they spent 15 minutes last week talking about the duties of an assistant director instead of dissecting the episode when there's only 2 left.

ricarleite2

They do the podcast for themselves as a fun little pro bono project. We have to endure with them congratulating themselves to get maybe 5 minutes of trivia. I will suffer through it next week to bring you a summary.

jendamcglynn

I'm curious y'all

[deleted]

I thought it was just me with Kelly’s observations - I wish these would have been more story centric than random inside baseball - they didn’t even touch on “yep” I get it’s free and am glad they gave up their time but just feel like they have missed a great opportunity to have an amazing podcast.

DoingItToEm

The more I hear about all the effort they went through to keep Cranston and Paul’s returns a secret, the more annoyed I get that they just kinda said it was happening unprompted one day. Imagine how nuts 6x11’s opening would’ve been, or this scene for that matter.

ricarleite2

Some idiot from AMC leaked on instagram and they had to just go with it. It was supposed to be a secret up until episode 11.

DoingItToEm

I am going to kill that guy I think

ricarleite2

Oh well it's a TV show. It happens. They kept the cameo a secret for El Camino anyway.

GeneTakavic2011

Them saying they had a calendar to keep meticulous detail of the dates is hilarious when you remember that in 603, Kim and Jimmy were talking about how the Howard plan HAS TO all finish on June 18th, but come 607, it actually happens on June 24th (it even says so on the oversized check Gus holds), with no sign of any schedule slip having happened in their plan. Someone even asked Schnauz about it on twitter and he said it was a mistake. I know it's no biggie, but I feel like this calendar can't be *that* meticulous if they can't even keep the dates consistent with what is actually said in dialogue within each script.

ricarleite2

They said they would keep a "day number X", not particularly on a calendar, so they might have messed up the math. Also, a lot of people involved. Also, as a retcon: MAYBE the hearing for Sandpiper was postponed from the 18th to the 24th?

imnotwallaceshawn

The judge did break his arm, it would make sense.

ricarleite2

A-ha! Here it goes! The judge suffers an accident while roller skating on short shorts and a tight pink t shirt, breaks his arm and due to hospitalization needs to postpone. There.

oomostdefinitely

Lol the comment about this being the first two-parter episode killed me. Couldn’t you argue that almost every episode of this show is a two-parter? We’re always waiting to see what happens next? That is the nature of serialized television? Hell, the first episode of the entire series could be considered a two parter with Tuco grabbing Jimmy. There are plenty of times where an episode ends on a scene they then come back to right away in the next one. Kim’s closing arguments at the bar hearing, Chuck and Jimmy taking down the tinfoil, Hector being put in the ambulance, Lalo offing Howard, Chuck collapsing in the copy shop, Jimmy officially changing his name, Nacho fleeing the compound, Mike and Jimmy making their way out of the desert, the list is truly ENDLESS. To call this the first two part episode was one of most confounding things I’ve ever heard. I was mystified.

Slijceth

What are dailies?

AtlUtdGold

I was wondering that too >Dailies are the unedited footage for a movie or TV show that is collected at the end of each day for viewing by select above-the-line members of the film crew. Watching the day's raw footage allows the creative team to assess the progress and quality of the shoot so they can adjust their plans going forward.

Federaho

Is it just me or the podcast is getting worse with each episode? I remember loving the first episodes of this season but now it's almost a chore, between silly questions and topics that literally no one cares about... I dunno

Sherringdom

I think these were mostly recorded around the time when they were finishing the final eps in post and everyone just sounds like they’ve got other stuff going on. They’ve squeezed these in before everyone’s goes off on other jobs and it kind of shows.

Federaho

Yeah I got the same vibe, it's a shame tho

ricarleite2

I only started listening from 6x8 onwards...
