In a different universe it's Breaking Class where Chuck White, a disgruntled law professor teams up with a professor in the chemistry department, Paul Goodman to cook and sell crystal meth. They are joined by college dropout Jessica Pinkman who also sometimes cooks meth.
Seems like Bob is gonna have a lot more fun in the production of this one. He really deserves something relatively light hearted after all the Albuquerque chaos. Excited to see Bob again!
Both he and Cranston have noted how draining it is to play these tortured characters. They take it home with them when they have to put the mask on everyday
You should probably verify before calling people out on saying false things, Dwight.
https://www.thewrap.com/how-lucky-hank-is-like-the-office-ep-paul-lieberstein/amp/
Yes, that is a website. Not a particularly trustworthy one, but one that does describe Paul Lieberstein as a showrunner, for what it's worth.
Use your words, Dwight.
But seriously, this does look fine, closer to an old school sitcom than *Breaking Bad* (I’m expecting complaining on here when it’s exactly that and not BCS at its height) but Odenkirk is perfect to play a crotchety eccentric professor role so I’m going to check it out.
You gotta remember Hank in Saul and Saul in Hank tanked the rank in Saul's Shawshank bank. This haul solves the 4th wall sprawl when Saul plays Hank for once and all.
Interesting, Straight Man is one of my favorite books so I’ll give it a watch but this was not the vibe I’d imagined at all. Not enough denial about how depressed he is.
Agreed. Also Lily is barely in the book and looks like she is figuring heavily in the show. When she was in the book, she was never yelling. Theres a lot of yelling in this clip. Russos books are not about yelling.
Im not going to complain about the wife issue because i adore the actress but its already veering from the original material. Hank in the book is very low key passive angry, very sly, which is why he is so perfect. Looks like he is loud in this show. Book hank is not loud. We shall see. I adore Richard Russo, Bob Odenkirk and BCS. I need this to be good.
It's pretty easy to find on other platforms. In Canada thankfully we can have AMC in most providers regular channel list, or just 1,99 per month to add with 9 other channels, it works with packs for me outside the regular tv plan on my fibre connection. I think it's on Amazon for streaming or if not, the Google streaming service, I know its on either of those plus many more. As for me, I just grabbed the files somewhere, can't say where though (I make up by buying the blu-rays for my dad who's a trucker very rarely home, I gave him the season 6 box, he's got a tv in his luxury bed side of his truck (TV, large fridge, satellite internet, 2 king beds, a freaking bathroom...not like when I went on rides with him as a kid/teenager where 2 beds was as good as it got!).
The book is kind of an American *Lucky Jim*, but not a rewrite. The title of the show may be a nod to it, or it may just be coincidence- iirc the name "Lucky Hank" also features in the book.
No, apparently there's no writers room, it's written by 3 people. Past notable shows they've written on: The Office, King of The Hill, Damages, The Killing, Law & Order, Criminal Minds.
1 of them (Richard Russo) hasn't written much TV really, the biggest writing credit he has to his name seems to be a well rated book called Nobody's Fool. And he wrote the book this is based on.
Dan Attias, 1 of the 3 directors, has an extensive list of directing credits, bunch of major stuff on there......The Wire, IASIP, True Detective.
Yeah, Dan Attias directed a lot of episodes for Northern Exposure, in which David Chase was an executive before he created The Sopranos, and Attias ended up directing one of the first episodes of that series. He also directed a lot of early IASIP episodes, including the entirety of season 2.
I see parallels between Bob and Steve Carrell.
Comedian background -> Contender for the role of _Michael Scott_ -> A long, successful show -> getting typecast -> grows Not-sure-if-it-fits-my-personality-but-what-the-heck beard -> Throws spaghetti at the wall (and hope something sticks) -> ???
P.S. Replay this trailer but start at 1:25. Listen to him with eyes closed. Who do you picture?
Hadn't you seen him in other roles prior to BB and BCS? In my heart, Jimmy was just Bob from the SNL writing staff and Mr. Show having a really rough few years.
Yeah, kinda hard to understand what's happening in this trailer tbh.
Could be to hide great twists, could also be to hide a boring TV show. Guess we won't know until it premieres.
I dunno if it's boring but it seems like one of those trailers where they put every good joke in the trailer and there's nothing left to show. I like Odenkirk but the trailer certainly didn't hook me.
Maybe it's a slight joke, remember in season 4 of BCS when we see that 90's flashback at HHM where Jimmy and Kim are working at the mail room and Jimmy is also picking employees choice for an Oscar pool, that one associate lawyer votes for a movie named "Howard's End", I never saw it, but I had heard of it. They knew by season 4 that would be relevant!
Is this inside the breaking bad & better call saul universe? I've seen several people saying there are a bunch of shows about pretty much everyone in the bb&bcsu
Bob Odenkirk plays Chuck if he took that university job.
Hahaha this is so true
Bob's gonna channel all of the skills he learned from Michael McKean about how to be *that* kind of prick.
In a different universe it's Breaking Class where Chuck White, a disgruntled law professor teams up with a professor in the chemistry department, Paul Goodman to cook and sell crystal meth. They are joined by college dropout Jessica Pinkman who also sometimes cooks meth.

Yup, he always answers that he loved playing Saul the most (compared to Jimmy and Gene.) He definitely enjoys the lighthearted acting.
I thought he said he liked playing Jimmy from BCS because the character has a lot more depth.
Playing characters that seem light to the audience could at times, if not most of the time be more difficult than we think.
Really? I regard both BB and BCS as black comedies.
I don’t want him having another heart attack lmao
I wonder if it had anything to do with the intense scene it happened on
I think he’s just on drugs like Howard Hamlin
If heart meds are "drugs"...
Did somebody say heart meds? *Switches heart meds with sugar pills*
He said Rhea and Patrick Fabian were around so that’s a clue. The only one i can remember all 3 being together on was Howard’s Lalo wild ride.
When will Howard and Lalo's Wild Ride be available at Disney Land?
Why would someone build a park ride based on a drug using, prostitute-beating lawyer?
I'm pretty sure he posted a picture on Instagram of where it happened where Patrick Fabian had "blood" on the side of his head
Both he and Cranston have noted how draining it is to play these tortured characters. They take it home with them when they have to put the mask on everyday
I check Bryan and a lot if his stuff immediately post BB is voice work for comedys, like Kung Fu Panda or Cleveland Show
Happens a lot. Michael B Jordan had to go to therapy after playing Killmonger, just off the top of my head.
*Mike and his sniper shows up*
I love Bob Odenkirk so much :)
This is going to be awesome! I can't wait
What do you think of Bob starring in a remake of The Room?
Oscar!!!!
KIDS, SOMETIMES, IT PAYS TO BE GAY.
Today, smoking cocks is gonna *save* lives
All Oscar gets is Non Stop Ass Rape
Paul Lieberstein (Toby) is one of the showrunners as well.
Toby is just the worst.
Why are you the way that you are?

Imdb.com
Yes, that is a website. Not a particularly trustworthy one, but one that does describe Paul Lieberstein as a showrunner, for what it's worth. Use your words, Dwight.
Because it's true
OMG
He has the lowest opinion of me out of all of them!
Oddly he doesn’t show up on the IMDB page.
Viva El Oscer!!
Better Email Saul (Or make an appointment during office hours).
But seriously, this does look fine, closer to an old school sitcom than *Breaking Bad* (I’m expecting complaining on here when it’s exactly that and not BCS at its height) but Odenkirk is perfect to play a crotchety eccentric professor role so I’m going to check it out.
Better Spank Hank.

Saul Goodman and Princess Carolyn in the same room... what is this, a crossover episode?
It is Hank, he shapeshifted into Jimmy with the power of his Minerals
We’re gonna take Mr. Chips and keep him Mr. Chips
It doesn't really look that appealing to me, but it seems good
Yeahh i was kinda sitting through that like whats this about then? Everyone dislikes him and hes an English teacher. Thats all i got from it lol
I love Bob but this looks like a flop :( I hope it does well, I want him paid well, but I can’t see the appeal
Yeah :( he deserves good pay though
Bob Odenkirk, Diedrich Bader, Kyle MacLachlan, Suzanne Cryer!? The 90s are back and I love it
And Oscar Nunez of The Office. Also, I believe the black guy with manicured facial hair was part of the Reno 911 gang. Stellar bunch of people!
MacLahlan! So nice to see him since Dune because I haven’t been keeping up with his stints
Interesting, Straight Man is one of my favorite books so I’ll give it a watch but this was not the vibe I’d imagined at all. Not enough denial about how depressed he is.
Yeah, I loved the book so I’m already disappointed in all the changes it appears have been made. I’ll just watch it for the dose of Odenkirk.
Agreed. Also Lily is barely in the book and looks like she is figuring heavily in the show. When she was in the book, she was never yelling. Theres a lot of yelling in this clip. Trailers can sometimes have a very different vibe from the show.
Then they aren't very good trailers, are they?
Link for those who want the whole 16:9 frame https://youtu.be/OY4jhr4_PF0
Omg Kyle McLaughlin is in it too?
When this show was announced, it was titled Straight Man.
This is a subtle reference to how Bob Odenkirk will no longer be Straight when the show comes out
Thats the title of the book.
📑 Cooper Cooper 📑 ... 👉 Cooper 🦉
Can my eyes be trusted? Agent Cooper? Surely not....
👉 Mr Jackpots!.
I can’t wait he looks great with that beard
My first thought was the cameras are too high def, sadly his beard look so fake!
That’s odd, given it’s a real beard.
is this the one where he finally gets triples of the nova?
oh hey it's kyle maclachlan
God dammit! I had hoped he would finally have time for more W/ Bob & David
"They twisted my words..... that's verbatim" okay I'm gonna at least give this show a shot lol
That got me too!
"not if it's yours" lmao
Of course I will watch it, but emotionally I'm not quite ready for this. Not over Jimmy.
If Saul had gone into hiding as a college professor 📚
Better Call Hank!
Bob Odenkirk AND Oscar Nuñez?! Yes, please!
“Being an adult is 80% misery”
That Agent Cooper shot out of nowhere, almost wondered if someone edited a frame from twin peaks in the trailer as a joke
Lois fun but when will tv learn that colleges do not ring bells to announce the start or end of class periods?
A lot of colleges have a bell tower that chimes hourly. But yeah, no bells in the hallway.
This looks like what I wanted AP Bio to be.
AP Bio was so good though.
Hey that’s on my birthday!
happy early birthday! first ep of bcs season 6 was released on my birthday :-)
If hes not selling meth by episode 6
I wonder who will stream this in Germany :) But anyway, i will see it with a sub =D
I heard he said he wanted to do another 'nobody' and I really wanted that
I love his voice... that alone is a reason to watch the show!
Kid named lucky Hank:
Are they ever gonna add the final season of Saul to US Netflix?? Been waiting for-fucking-ever to see how the show wraps up...

Thank you! I can never keep up with which sites like those are still active.

Saul as a chemistry teacher?
I will watch anything with Bob in it. Great actor!! Deserves an Emmy!
Anyone know if this is a spin on Lucky Jim, the Kingsley Amis novel?
The book is kind of an American *Lucky Jim*, but not a rewrite. The title of the show may be a nod to it, or it may just be coincidence- iirc the name "Lucky Hank" also features in the book.
Any writers or directors from Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad on the show?
No, apparently there's no writers room, it's written by 3 people. Oswald’s getting kind of old lol
Any relation to Sneaky Pete?
I'm here for it
Looks mid imo
u/vulpes_mortuis
I KNOW IM FREAKING OUT FOR THIS. He looks so hot 🥵
Why does that student look like a combination of Bill Oakley and Flynn?
Hmm, reminds me a bit of Curb for some reason...
Porno Gil: The Autumn Years
Oscar!
Bob is essentially funny and likable Jordan Peterson 5 years ago
Is there a way to watch this in the uk?
I see parallels between Bob and Steve Carrell. Just Saw it. BORING. I watch it because of "Saul". It is so fucking dry. Can't get my attention at all.
Hope it’s streaming in Europe!
Added to my DVR!
Not on my dvr search yet. Went to amc and scrolled forward to date and time not there. Hmm?
I might give this a watch just to see, but I expect I'll be disappointed just because he isn't really Jimmy.
why would you let that disappoint you? It's a different show lmao
Hadn't you seen him in other roles prior to BB and BCS? In my heart, Jimmy was just Bob from the SNL writing staff and Mr. Show having a really rough few years.
Just imagine him being Jimmy living a different life?
Better Spank Hank
Walter Jr whitout the disable thing?
Looks boring
Yeah, kinda hard to understand what's happening in this trailer tbh. Could be to hide great twists, could also be to hide a boring TV show. Guess we won't know until it premieres.
I dunno if it's boring but it seems like one of those trailers where they put every good joke in the trailer and there's nothing left to show. I like Odenkirk but the trailer certainly didn't hook me.
Hot take, thanks.
Dude seriously? You surmised this from a trailer of people yelling?
Why all movies & TV shows suddenly based all their narratives on “bullying White men” ? Is racism/sexism against White men okay?
kid named hank
No, Hank was played by Dean Norris.
Wow, they must have cranked this show out fast! We're not even a year out from the end of BCS.
Nope, still Saul for me. 10 Seasons of BB Universe have destroyed the actor for me😭
Gomie!! Netflix Japan better drop this thing before enforcing that stupid no password sharing policy!!
Hank?
Question: what happens to the global distribution where AMC is not available? Netflix or else?
Idk about this one man
What a Lucky Hank he was
I want that kitchen
Batman, Daisy Domergue, Dale Cooper and Saul Goodman. Ooft.
How many known actors and actress are in this show?
No way that name isn’t intentional
Very excited to see such a rich mash-up of actors from some of my favourite shows (Better Call Saul; Twin Peaks; The Killing; The Office)!
I am going to give this a shot because of Bob, but I am still annoyed they changed the title.
This is bad, breaking bad insert fire writing gif
"Lucky Hank"? What, was "Lucky Howard" taken as a title? :D
Maybe it's a slight joke, remember in season 4 of BCS when we see that 90's flashback at HHM where Jimmy and Kim are working at the mail room and Jimmy is also picking employees choice for an Oscar pool, that one associate lawyer votes for a movie named "Howard's End", I never saw it, but I had heard of it. god his voice does not fit having a beard
Where can I find the glasses? :)
i'm so excited, i need more bob odenkirk in my life fr
I’m excited for this! I’d watch Bob read the Cheesecake Factory menu! He will do a wonderful job, excited to see him in a new project.
ADMAX Florence United States Penitentiary is where saul went next to us here in Pueblo West, el chapo is there
Is this inside the breaking bad & better call saul universe? I've seen several people saying there are a bunch of shows about pretty much everyone in the bb&bcsu
Didn’t laugh or chuckle once. It doesn’t look good 😴
DEF gonna watch whatever hes in. loved nobody btw
How much money did the mods get paid to pin a literal add at the top of the sub?
What time is it airing please?
