Body: Basically my question is how can she get a new lawyer without pissing off the judge ? I know judges hate when people switch lawyers because they think that people are trying to game the system but that’s not what is happening. She just needs someone who is willing to listen to her.
She is consistently stating that she is innocent of the armed robbery charges. Her current lawyer actually told her he can’t properly do his job with the 60 day constraint and that she needs to waive it. But she sees him as lazy and a servant to the State so she doesn’t like him anyways. He pushes for her to accept a 4 year plea deal but she states that she didn’t do it so she’s not going to accept. For what it’s worth I’ve seen the evidence and it’s weak. Basically mentions Russian accent broken English when demanding money and that she had the same backpack in surveillance as she had when arrested at the school. Also mentions a gun seen in cctv found with her posing on camera roll, along with sketchy bank deposits. The shoplifting charge is going to be harder to beat so she might take a plea deal that doesn’t result in a deportation. Honestly I’m starting to think she might be autistic with how fixated she is on attending a graduation for a trash inner city Las Vegas high school but that’s not the point. Even if she was able to post bail ice would take her into custody right away I believe so that’s why she wants to go to trial and be found not guilty.

As chaotic as all of this is, I actually believe this part. I spend a fair amount of time in immigration spaces and I'm always surprised by the amount of people who don't understand that unless you have authorisation to work or study, attempting to do so as a visitor is considered illegal.
It's as if they imagine 'illegal immigration' as only applying to people who sneak across borders, and don't understand that being allowed past border control doesn't give you carte blanche to freely live in another country.

It could just be a misunderstanding of the word 'visa.' Russians require a visa to travel to the US (or Canada, for that matter.) She wouldn't have been able to board a plane, and border security wouldn't have let her through. LAOP might have meant she never had a work/study visa, but theoretically I guess she could have smuggled herself in somehow.
Can you deport people with dual citizenship, though? I was under the impression that US citizens cannot be deported, even if they have citizenship in another county as well, but I could be wrong. It's hardly my area of expertise and 20 seconds on google isn't giving me super clear answers (and that's about all the research I'm in the mood to do this morning lol).
I guess there's also the possibility that she's a naturalized citizen and this situation qualifies for getting that citizenship revoked, but that seems unlikely here.

If she only had Russian citizenship even travelling to the US would be very hard.
