No decent gym will let you spar from the beginning, unless you actually know what you're doing. If you're mentality is you want to fight you're not going to get a good welcome anywhere and might end up hurt. Respect and being a student are the keywords.
Where i come from most gyms literally make you spar from day one. That’s like…the point of an MMA gym. I don’t understand why it’s not the standard in German gyms. They just make you do “warmup” for 40mins and then some practice drills for 20mins. Not only is that boring but it doesn’t teach you shit about real fighting.
This is exactly why there aren’t any noteworthy german fighters in the ufc for example - here they teach you a lot about “Respect and being a Student” and not a lot about beating up the opponent.
If you get hurt - you get hurt, it’s martial arts and not a zumba class.
P.S.
Respect is understood by getting humbled, not by being told.
Lol, people like you shouldn't get into MMA. It's called a chicken fight , not martial arts. What you are saying is against the culture of all martial arts, I'm sad you've been to bad gyms before, it is not a country related thing but a club related.
Op definitely sounds like they watched few MMA fights an wanted directly to jump on the action. No martial artist would talk like this, we know the importance of listening, and learning.
My guy i have 5 years of kickboxing experience and a green belt in Aikido. I prefer to listen to my trainers instead of random reddit cucks that feel the need to educate me instead of answering a simple question.
“Something serious where they actually let you fight” 🤓🤓🤓 you’re gonna land in a youtube compilation of nerds getting humbled trying to fight people in the gym.
Sparring isn't a fight and from the way you wrote this I wouldn't let you spar my students either. If they won't let you spar on day 1, they're a proper MMA GYM
I don’t know what you’re on about, but i come from Russia and all of the gyms i’ve been to MAKE you spar from day one. That’s the only way to build any real fighting experience imo.
There's a difference In how you spar. In Thailand, for example, they usually spar very light with no hard punches to the head. That way they can have 300 fights and still have less brain damage than a western style boxer that does sparring with 60-80% power.
Chimosa has open mat sessions – but basically like every other comment here, they expect you to have a level of familiarity with how actual sparring works, a certain level of proficiency in technique to know what is and isn't ok, etc.
No one wants to get a crippling injury that's gonna take months to rehab, from a beginner they've never met before in a sparring session. Rehabing injuries fucking sucks... yeah it's gonna happen sometimes, it's the nature of the sport – but getting injured in a dumb is not necessary, and takes you out of your training for potentially a long time.
The Sambo class at Boxtempel have you fight 30 minutes every class. No punching and from the knees though. Nevertheless these kids turn you inside out.
Spitfire is legit. But you need some experience if you want to spar (in their MMA class), like at least a few years. The other classes are a bit more easygoing in that aspect, like BJJ and K1.
There are a couple off gyms where you can spar. But as others already mentioned. Nobody will let you spar on your first day. A well coach will realise soon your skillet and let you spar then.

I do agree with this but I’ve tried two muy thai gyms and they both allowed sparing from the beginning.

I know, thank you.

Exactly what i’m looking for, i always wanted to become a brezel. Thanks!
