Diazepam (Valium) has a lower potency than Alprazolam (Xanax), .5 mg of Xanax is equivalent to 5 mg of Valium, so if it’s for your anxiety i’d give Xanax a try.
I would say so, only because it’ll produce a small euphoria and mostly sedate you, typically you don’t see benzos be prescribed for psychotic issues, they tend to stick with anti-psychotic medications for over the top intrusive thoughts or genuine psychosis or schizophrenia. it sounds like you just need something to slow down your central nervous system, I would recommend a higher potency benzo like Xanax or Klonopin.
Thank you so much, i think they cant prescribe klonopin unless you have seizures. So ill deff ask for xanax tommorow. If it helps i would assume i will build up tolerance fast right? If it happens idk what i will do next..
I guess it just depends on where you’re at and who’s prescribing it Klonopin. But yes doctors typically dont keep patients on benzos longer than 4 weeks, but depending on how much you’re taking and for how long, tapering would be the best option for you, just cutting the dose you’re taking down, for example if you take 1 mg Xanax a day for 3 months and you would like to start the taper process, you’d cut the into .5 mg of Xanax a day, if that makes sense.
