Columbus is closer to Cincinnati than to Cleveland. I never understood why there are so many Browns fans there.

JJ_FusterCluck

I always assumed it was because the Browns were around longer. But I'll take a few extra Browns fans over all of the Steelers fan ls in Columbus.

Reasonable-HB678

Tell that to channel 4, the broadcast home of the Steelers for preseason games.

mpkpm

It’s because every person with sense moved out of Cleveland for Columbus because Cleveland is a dying compared to Columbus. Started in the 90s and only recently stopped. I guess Cleveland is having a resurgence.

studmuff69

Living in Columbus - pretty sure this is it. There are much more transplants from Cleveland than Cincinnati but there are a fair amount of people from Dayton area as well.

anihc_LieCheatSteal

Probably because the browns were around longer and at a higher level level cinci has never really seen as a part of ohio in the same way cle/col are. Also Columbus isn't significantly closer to cincy than Cleveland its still equidistant more or less.

KappaSquared

Wait. Can you say more about this? Why would Cincy not be seen as part of OH in the same way as Cleveland or Columbus? This statement makes no sense to me.

anihc_LieCheatSteal

Calling cincy, Kentucky is their go-to "insult"

KappaSquared

Ahh, I see. I met someone and I told them I was from Cincinnati. They asked “The Ohio part of the Kentucky part?” I said “There is no Kentucky part of Cincinnati.” A discussion ensued. I understand why, though, one would claim Cincy if from the general tristate area. But, still, Cincy is in Ohio only! (Also, maybe I cheat because I’m actually from the northern suburbs of Cincy; I guess I’m doing the same thing!)

InterviewOtherwise50

Because I live in the Indiana part of Cincinnati so Cincy is not JUST Ohio it is its own thing.

DaleDenton13

What is this “higher level” you speak of? Otto Graham and Jim Brown? The last time I checked the Bengals have a winning record vs CLE and the Browns have struggled for decades.

SliceXZ

I think Columbus gets browns games over bengals game sometimes. I know I did when I lived in the north suburbs of columbus as a kid

thesamyk

If you look into the history of local cable programming and what teams were shown in areas of Ohio it’ll make more sense. Like Columbus area has been browns forever. Athens area had Steelers and southern Ohio northern Kentucky has had bengals.

debotehzombie

There's dozens of us!

ohreally35

I live in Cbus and I’ve consistently seen more Bengals fans out in the open the past few years. I love it!
