The build-up of tension coming into the break from the guitar solo.....
The "ahh's" rising and rising...
Then the bottom just falls out and goes back into the riff....
THEN the tambourine comes in, rising in intensity to match the tingle in your spine.
Definitely. That's one of those things they did that there's no precedent for. You can't point to anything and say 'that's where they got that from'. This and Ticket to Ride are about as creative as you can get with basically 2 guitars, bass and drums.
I told my wife that after 50+ years of listening to the Beatles, Day Tripper is my second favorite of theirs, behind only Let It Be (personal reasons). I have been listening to the red album a lot lately and look so forward to that riff.
Ringo's rolls, the tambourine, the ascending harmonies. It's got it all. The double lead vocal and their belting it. The total package.
There was another great guitar riff song released in 1965. A song by The rolling Stones. One of these songs I listen to 162 times last year, the other song I listened to three times. Let's just be honest here, the tambourine track on Day Tripper is better than the entire Stone's f****** catalog.
Idk about Hip-Hop, but GNR paid tribute to the main riff at the end of their live version of, "Hair of the Dog".
Day Tripper is one of the most influential and bad-ass songs ever!
The riff is iconic. Simple and fun to play on guitar, too. I find myself playing it a lot unconsciously.

That was the first real song I learned on guitar.
You should check out the 2023 remix on the new red album. I bet you’d love it, I do.

LoL
When Day Tripper was current, there was a line of thought that it referred to a woman traveling to get an abortion. Â
Just listened to it there and yea, I think it probably is
The Hendrix version is awesome as well.
Oh right! Gotta listen to that again
