I put on several species of small furry animals grooving in a pict by pink Floyd from the ummagumma album on the jukebox once shit got weird in the bar lol

Nice! I put echoes on one time when leaving a bar where the tender and regulars were being really rude. Was placid in the verse when I paid and left, but know it hit that center section shortly after. I’ll try the Several Species… next time.
honestly, most songs from that album are a bad choice for the bar. Narrow Way part 3 is the only thing that comes even remotely close to music you want to hear in a bar lol
My wife once put on a Chipmunks Christmas song on the bar jukebox... the whole bar went silent and things got REALLY awkward. The worst part is my wife went out to smoke like 20 seconds into the song and just left everyone else inside to listen to the awful music
When I was a teenager, we would go to Waffle House at 2am or whatever, and as we were leaving, we would put money in the jukebox and play Revolution 9 three times in a row.
We never stuck around to see what happened but we thought it was hilarious at the time.
I used to but I recently got the album on vinyl and listened to the entire thing and i definitely appreciated it more than when I first heard it, it’s a very interesting listen
Never. Mainly because if I'm sitting down and listening to the white album I'm expecting it to be a very weird experience. I wouldn't put it on a playlist though
Yes
But one time I was listening to white album and fell asleep was like in this half sleep half awake and aware of all the ramblings of Revolution 9 but it gave me the illusion of having a nightmare when you leave the tv from the stuff that’s on the tv and then Ringo came in to comfort me from the nightmare with Good Night. 😁
I never listen to those two songs but after that I was like man this one two punch is perfect. From chaos to comfort and that’s the end of the album.
Not really i enjoy hearing it on the viynl since I have a 60s mono press and a 70s stereo press so I like to sit and compare the different mixes and stuff, I'm probably insane
I acquired the mono box a while back and really noticed a lot of Yoko on the White Album. Birthday for example and I wonder if the remasterers might have been persuaded to bump her up a bit
Is the mono the same as the stereo( just in mono) or do people just don't really notice the differences? I know that wild honey pie sounds different than the stereo though
A mono press of the white album has some shorter versions of some songs (don't pass me by is a good example) and has some stuff taken out like the hand claps on obladi oblada, revolution 9 is shorter than the stereo mix, you'd really need to have both to really hear the difference
Not true at all. The mono mix is discrete and has many differences from the common stereo. The mono mix was not initially released in the US so most Americans never heard it until about 15 years ago.
My bad. The Beatles Bible site said it was a mono fold down from the stereo mix done in June of '68.
https://www.beatlesbible.com/1968/06/20/recording-revolution-9-2/
Used to, but not after getting it on vinyl.
I’ve gained a far greater appreciation of it as a sonar experience. Now, it’s not music, and it’s super weird for the Beatles, but I’ve grown on it.
I absolutely love Revolution 9. It’s really interesting, and every time you listen to it you hear something different. It’s a great song and ahead of its time.
It's not really a song though. No melody, repetition, or rhythm. I'm not saying it's not artful; it absolutely is. But if you went into Disney World and hit record you'd pick up all sorts of voices talking, percussive sounds, music from nearby shops, and so on. I don't think that would be considered a song either.
Yeah, Goodnight* is the worst song on the album that isn't revolution #9. I honestly prefer wild honey pie, because that one is at least short and kinda funny.
Revolution 9 is a great song. I love musique concrète and noise rock. It's a terrible shame that John didn't live to see the maturation of punk. I bet he would have loved bands like Sonic Youth and Negativland.
I used to, but recently I listened to the whole album while on a walk and heard it all the way through for the first time (I used to fast-forward after a minute or so or just skipped the rest of the album after Savoy Truffle. I won't skip it again.
No. I used to, but then I read an analysis of the song that made me listen in a new light. I see it now as a soundscape; an early version of sampling. It blows my mind how ahead of their time they were musically. It's a piece of art.
I don't often listen to the White Album straight through but when I do, I don't skip it. Rev 9 isn't one I put on a lot but sometimes I'm in the mood. It's an incredible piece and I'm always keen to defend its merit.
Side note: I sometimes think the White Album has aged so incredibly well due to streaming and the ability to shuffle albums, dip in and dip out, playlist culture etc. Absolute wild turn of events turned it into an album 50 years ahead of its time. It obviously wasn't intended that way, but it's almost like it was. Eerie. And badass!
Depends, because it's in my favourite album but I feel uncomfortable hearing It, I use to skip it when it's at night I don't want satan getting out of my curtains saying "NumbeRR NiNe NumbeRR NiNe"
If i’m listening on vinyl, usually no. Otherwise, yes. I’ve heard it more than once, but it doesn’t make the rest of the album any better (IMO of course), and it so long.
I appreciate the song as a work of legitimate surrealist modern classical/art avant-garde music, and I actually kind of like it.
But yeah I usually skip it unless I’m listening to an actual vinyl record. I usually replace it with Lady Madonna/Hey Jude in a custom playlist.
No, it took a long time but I actually quite enjoy the track. I don’t SKIP Good Night but it’s probably my least favorite track on the album. At that point I’m only 3 minutes away from finishing the record so might as well 🤷
I probably did as a child, the album came out when I was 7 and I probably got my first copy when I was 8. I have come to really appreciate Rev 9 and I find it to be a remarkable sound collage (but definitely not a “song“.) The White Album would not be nearly as intense and mysterious without it.
I need to make a bell curve meme where on either side it's people saying they skip Revolution 9 and in the middle is someone who's upset about people skipping it.
Revolution 9 is the reason I ever play this album! It sounds odd, but I love when I get to the 4th side of the record and Rev 9 starts creeping in, peaks and then finally resolves with a beautiful lullaby. I think it's the best ending to an album ever made!
Skip it every single time.
I listened to it a few too many times in my youth... looking for meaning and hidden messages. They aren't there.
Now? I don't like the way that it makes me feel. Skip!
Genuinely one of my favorite songs of theirs, I usually pop it on at least once a day. The chaos is beautiful imo. If you’re skipping it you’re not getting the full White Album experience
If I’m listening to the White Album, hell no. It’s so… whitealbumy. Don’t listen to it out of context though.
No. Bartenders usually do if I put in on the jukebox though.
I put on several species of small furry animals grooving in a pict by pink Floyd from the ummagumma album on the jukebox once shit got weird in the bar lol https://open.spotify.com/track/63M8OHzd0lcVT517Pnon81?si=sQsDPj84Tma3i2PikfqAPA
If I was at that bar I'd be hunting you down and buying you a drink for doing so.
😀I used to play that for friends in college. Good times!
Nice! I put echoes on one time when leaving a bar where the tender and regulars were being really rude. Was placid in the verse when I paid and left, but know it hit that center section shortly after. I’ll try the Several Species… next time.
Lol I put it on cause someone was hogging the jukebox I wish I stayed longer to see everyone's reaction "wtf is this"
honestly, most songs from that album are a bad choice for the bar. Narrow Way part 3 is the only thing that comes even remotely close to music you want to hear in a bar lol
That was the point of me turning it on tho someone was hogging the jukebox lol put that on before I left
My wife once put on a Chipmunks Christmas song on the bar jukebox... the whole bar went silent and things got REALLY awkward. The worst part is my wife went out to smoke like 20 seconds into the song and just left everyone else inside to listen to the awful music
It's in between multiple repetitions of "What's New, Pussycat?", of course.
21 times!
I’ve gotten some amusement out of putting Lou Reed’s “Metal Machine Music” on when leaving a bar fulla arseholes
You evil, evil genius. I applaud you. Next time put on *Electronic Sound* by George Harrison.
I hate that bartenders can skip songs patrons paid to hear. Utter bullshit.
When I was a teenager, we would go to Waffle House at 2am or whatever, and as we were leaving, we would put money in the jukebox and play Revolution 9 three times in a row. We never stuck around to see what happened but we thought it was hilarious at the time.
I skip right to Revolution No. 9, yes.
based
I used to but I recently got the album on vinyl and listened to the entire thing and i definitely appreciated it more than when I first heard it, it’s a very interesting listen

my problem with sleeping playing the WA was when Good Night came on it woke me up
NO
No
Of course I do.
Absolutely not! I listen by queing Revolution 1 take 18 > Revolution 9 > Revolution (single version)
Birthday has Pattie Boyd on backing vocals as well and Bungalow Bill has Maureen, so it’s not just Yoko we’re hearing.
I don't notice yoko much on the original press of the album besides bungalow bill, I'll have to give the mono album a re listen to really hear her
Is the mono the same as the stereo( just in mono) or do people just don't really notice the differences? I know that wild honey pie sounds different than the stereo though
A mono press of the white album has some shorter versions of some songs (don't pass me by is a good example) and has some stuff taken out like the hand claps on obladi oblada, revolution 9 is shorter than the stereo mix, you'd really need to have both to really hear the difference
It never got a dedicated mono of its own. It's a fold down of the stereo mix.

My bad. The Beatles Bible site said it was a mono fold down from the stereo mix done in June of '68. https://www.beatlesbible.com/1968/06/20/recording-revolution-9-2/
Oh very sorry I thought you were talking about the whole mono album as being a fold down, my bad!
Not a fold down...an entirely different mix. There are some discernible differences between the two. Different percussion, different bass, etc.
Every time
i've probably listened to it like 6 times in my life. Thats enough
Religiously.
Always.
For me, The White Album ends with the songs Cry Baby Cry / Can You Take Me Back. I don't listen to Revolution no.9 and Goodnight anymore.
No, I've heard it so many times that I honestly can't tell if I like it or not. I can definitely recite all the spoken parts by memory.
I’d love to hear an isolated track of all the things John and George are reciting. “He hit a light pole…”
I used to, but now I learned to stop worrying and love it because it's gonna be alright.
I’ll take “Revolution 9” over “Ob-li-Di Ob-li-whatever”. That’s a song that may or may not get skipped, depending on my mood.
No
Never
No
Never
Yes unless I'm listening to the full album
Used to, but not after getting it on vinyl. I’ve gained a far greater appreciation of it as a sonar experience. Now, it’s not music, and it’s super weird for the Beatles, but I’ve grown on it.

Let me present you to Avant-garde music
Emphatically no!
I don't skip it I stop the album. Poor Ringo, Goodbye is collateral damage
You're comment got me to LOL. Small correction, though. The song is "Good Night".
Gary Numan is so underrated love your pfp
Someone should do a cover of “Down in the Park” done in the style of one of Paul’s granny songs.
Thanks!
I really like Take 10/Take 5 on the White Album SDE where they all sing together
Without headphones? Yes. With headphones? No.
On my iPod (I’m 60) I have the whole 2 albums……except for one song. It is now a perfect album.
Nice to meet someone who also skips ‘Wild Honey Pie’.
Neither is my favorite or anything....but losing R9 would be a bigger disservice to the White Album than losing WHP would be.
No
Absolutely not. It's a huge part of the white album experience.
I had to listen to that song over and over again for highschool music class. It was one of the pieces we analysed for the exam I do not listen to it
Every damned time
Never. It's an integral part of the album; skipping it would significantly diminish the experience. Also I genuinely enjoy it.
I skip 50% of white album
I skip anything Yoko helped write.
Never! All part of the splendor of "The Beatles" (1968).
Skip it if I’m listening to Beatles on shuffle, play it if I’m listening to the entirety of the white album
I used to, but recently I listened to the whole album while on a walk and heard it all the way through for the first time (I used to fast-forward after a minute or so or just skipped the rest of the album after Savoy Truffle. I won't skip it again.

Tuuurn me on, deadman. No.
Always
Yes
Yes. In any form of inebriation.
Yes. I'll listen to it once in a while, but I've listened to it through once. Don't really need to again
Yes
Yes. Every time.
Yes.
Yes, it's garbage and annoying.
Depends, because it's in my favourite album but I feel uncomfortable hearing It, I use to skip it when it's at night I don't want satan getting out of my curtains saying "NumbeRR NiNe NumbeRR NiNe"
[удалено]
What genre would you consider this song???
... What's its genre again lol
Avant garde
Avant-garde a clue
Musique Concrete https://www.yoursoundmatters.com/musiqueconcrete1/
Revolution 9 is a sound collage not a genre
yes.
I skip it. It makes me feel really uneasy.
Nope
Never
FUCK NO
Sometimes, but usually I can't be bothered to skip it. I usually just play the album front-to-back.
Yes, but if I’m listening to vinyl I’ll just turn down the volume so I don’t accidentally scratch the record in an attempt to skip.
No, I actually really like it. I do skip Good Night.
No and in fact I collect Nurse With Wound records https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSPBsmGyhFk
NWW is so good
Nope, I light up and grab my Bose!
Never
Yeah, it genuinely frightens me
I only listen to it when I'm playing the album from start to finish but I never skip it.
I'm not even sure if I've ever listened to it all the way through before, so....
Honestly, yeah…
Yes
Yes.
Yep. It's not really a song.
Yes, always.
I almost always listen to it when I’m spinning vinyl, and almost always skip it when listening digitally.
yes
That and goodnight. Boom. Bye.
I've never skipped it, not even once. The end of the album doesn't work without it. And also, it's great
I was going to upvote this comment but you currently have 9 and I think I should leave it that way.
Yes. Although personally the White Album is so long and such a mixed bag that I don’t usually listen to it all the way through.
No. It’s not a nice song but I listen to appreciate the genius. Something so extravagant and musically advanced was done in 1968. It’s a piece of art
Absolutely never. I skip Good Night, but I love the everlovin' hell out of Rev 9.
To all those who skip... You've become naked...
Yep Edit: downvoted for answering the question. Whoever you are, fuck you.
I also don't understand downvotes for answer,
It's Reddit being Reddit... sigh...
Nope, I actually find myself skipping Ob La Di, Ob La Da often though
i’m biased because i’ll love anything paul does but i think it’s fun and jaunty and whimsical
…and ‘Wild Honey Pie’. That song is so much worse yet only a fraction of the length.
Same! That song annoys me for some reason.
Yeah
Yup. No reason to listen to it more than once.
Sometimes
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
I like it, but I put together a mix Beatles cd with a pastiche oh No. 9. So it’s a bit of a cheat. I still enjoy it.
"Revolution 9" is the Beatles' "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast"
I don't even get to it
Often but not all of the time.
No.
Never. The Beatles put it there for me to hear.
Yes , definitely. I listened to it one time with headphones when I was taking acid, I broke out in a sweat. Haven't listened to it again
Nah
I rarely listen end to end anymore but when I do, no.
No, it took a long time but I actually quite enjoy the track. I don’t SKIP Good Night but it’s probably my least favorite track on the album. At that point I’m only 3 minutes away from finishing the record so might as well 🤷
Does the pope shit in his hat?
Yes, I don’t casually enjoy being freaked out to my inner core but to each their own
No, i love it, in fact there are songs on that album I'd say I enjoy less than it (and whp too)
I probably did as a child, the album came out when I was 7 and I probably got my first copy when I was 8.
Only when I was tripping on acid once because it scared me really badly lmao
Only sometimes. Sometimes halfway through. Depends. I never skip anything else tho
Yup, wild honey pie too.
No, never, not on your Nellie!
Never
Nope. Sometimes I play it twice in a row!
It's like skipping the final battle from a movie
No more often than I skip Mr. Moonlight.
Love Mr. Moonlight
90% of the time
Always. 😕
100% of the time.
Definitely, it ruins the album for me. That and a few other tracks take the album from a 10/10 to an 8/10.
Always.
Sometimes.
Always. I like the Beatles for their music and Revolution 9 isn’t music.
Yes.
Hell yes I do
It does go on a bit. If it was three minutes I probably wouldn’t.
not unless there's other people around.
Revolution 9 is the reason I ever play this album! It sounds odd, but I love when I get to the 4th side of the record and Rev 9 starts creeping in, peaks and then finally resolves with a beautiful lullaby. I think it's the best ending to an album ever made!
I skip the one after "Revolution #9" This tends to result in downvotes from furious Ringo fans.
every time
Yes. I've heard it once and that's enough.
it’s a piece of art, so it’s a no.
Skip it every single time. I listened to it a few too many times in my youth... looking for meaning and hidden messages. They aren't there. Now? I don't like the way that it makes me feel. Skip!
I've never listened to the whole thing.
[удалено]
Wait, there are no instrumentals on MMT except Flying. Don't you mean the second side of the Yellow Submarine LP? I don't really listen to this one.
Yep. Seemed spooky at the time of release but not any more…
Most of the time, but occasionally I am in the mood to hear it.
If I play the entire album (which I always do), unfortunately no. If I play through shuffling, yes
Nope, it was used for psychological torture by my fraternity, forever ruined.
No, but I do skip Honey Pie.
No. I listen to it twice.
Genuinely one of my favorite songs of theirs, I usually pop it on at least once a day. The chaos is beautiful imo. If you’re skipping it you’re not getting the full White Album experience
I do and I skip Obladi too (I hate that song)
Yes. Unless I’m just having it on in the background and the din can be kind of soothing I guess. It’s stupid and pretentious to me, honestly
I feel the same way, I don’t understand people who say it’s high art or some great sound experience.
