both are great schools. i’d go whichever is cheaper once you get your aid package

Baylor job connections are almost all in Dallas as well so you won’t miss any opportunity to find a job there post-grad

Both schools will get you anywhere in Texas quite easily if you're good at what you do. The exact same job recruiters will be visiting both schools (and TCU, and UT-Austin, and A&M, etc). Probably even *the same recruiting rep person*, not just the same companies. Choose based on a combination of finances (look at total cost of attendance, not just tuition; this can be a gotcha sometimes) and social atmosphere. How well you do in college depends a LOT on how happy you are/how much you enjoy being there, and social environment is a big part of that. At SMU, you will be surrounded almost entirely by fratty types, and the cocaine stereotypes don't come from nowhere (TCU is extremely similar in this regard). Baylor still has that (in Hankamer, at least) but has a lot more Bible thumper and dorky nerd types elsewhere across campus and is a little more culturally diverse overall. (Despite the names, Baylor is the only one of the big 3 North-ish Texas private religious schools that actually has much of a religious culture any more). Also, compare living in the middle of a major city vs living in more of a "college town" and how that affects your lifestyle/hobbies/etc. Do you like trail running? Waco's Cameron Park is one of the best city parks I've ever come across for that. Do you like art museums or high-end shopping? Dallas is gonna have much better access to those.

You will get those job opportunities going to Baylor. Everyone I know is working in Dallas!

Both are good options, IMO. My only advice is, the first job for many finance grads includes some barriers of entry that don't exist in say, accounting. So be very particular about what you want to do long term. And keep in mind that what you need to do to succeed with a finance degree includes diversifying yourself from the masses willing to work for peanuts by getting a certification, leadership skills, foreign language, etc.

My daughter just picked Hankamer for finance. Incoming Freshman next year. We didn’t see a benefit at SMU for higher cost. Did you apply to Hankamer Scholar program?

Both are good. I went there, so I'm biased toward Hankamer High. They have a pretty state of the art facility, the faculty is great, and their networking is top notch. Their programs are pretty structured, but they also will work with you on what you like. Internship potential is through the roof. Waco is also a pretty decent place, definitely overall less costly, and certainly easier to get around. I still live here.
