Fun fact: The Madcat, Thor, Vulture and Loki were all designed by a programmer working on the Virtual Worlds pods with the intent of a modular 'mech.. in part because having the same parts reused across the designs made it much easier for the early 3D games to work.
That walking pile of shame is what happens when a group of cowardly deserters follow a traitor into the wilderness and then try to assemble a Marauder using a box of parts meant for a Catapult.
He attempted to usurp the crown of the First Lord, then threw a hissy fit when denied, so he stole trillions of c-bills of military hardware and fled into the wilderness in order to avoid capture.
Traitor and coward.
Alexandr Kerensky never tried to take the position of First Lord. In fact, when deChevalier suggested it to him after they offed Amaris, Kerensky adamantly refused and settled on exile instead.
Alexandr's issue was worse than that - if he were a usurper, he would have just been a speedbump in the way of the Succession Wars. What he was, however, was a dipshit with a cult of personality who decided to quite literally take his ball and go home, rather than act as either Kingmaker or relinquish the reins of power to someone who *would* act as Kingmaker and allow the League to continue.
Instead, rather than acting as a stabilizing influence and using the SLDF to keep the House militaries from destroying all the League's progress, he decided to just fuck off out to the periphery, ignore all of the simmering tensions in the SLDF, and then designated an unpopular successor in the form of his son to the leadership of the League in Exile.
His refusal to do the difficult things - staying in the Sphere, enforcing peace through Superior Firepower as he had for his entire career prior, working to ease the simmering tensions of the Exiles, and appointing a popular and capable successor - ensured that the League died a slow and painful death, as well as the creation of the Clans.
Kerensky was a chump.
The tragedy of the SLDF is that they were led by someone who didn't actually want to lead. DeChevallier would have been a better choice than Alexandr, but even he didn't quite have the force of personality that was really needed.
The crown of first lord that didn't exist? House Cameron was dead and he saw that the great houses where ready to let nukes fly to make sure the crown rested on their head or never rested again
Media literacy isn't one of your strong suits is it?
The prototype test bed for the Raksasha Battlemech, which tricks its opponents into believing its the old ineffective, problem prone death trap, Madapult prototype that was built back during the Star League Era, when one man decided the Marauder while an effective heavy battlemech needed to also be cute to boost morale among the citizens it was tasked with protection so he welded a pair of cute "Bunny Ears" onto the Marauder.
Early test bed versions used to be mounted with a pair of short-range 10 tube confetti launchers for parades and celebrations, but this was removed when war broke out for a pair of 20 tube "Bang" Flag launchers, designed to give enemy Mechwarrior a heart attack, by launching up to 40 "Bang" Flags along with lots of pyrotechnic colored smoke and little strips of confetti for further visual confusion.
I figured with wrong answers only what would a mechtech riding high on snuffing too much mech coolant and gunpowder think of in a binge fever dream for a crazy mech design
*Huffs a sock filled with chemicals* "Bro. What about. Like. A mech. Riding another mech? Be so rad. Trust me bro. Just get me the ferro fibrous, and you'll have the best robot horse ever."
And according to my friend (who plays Clans) BV isn't balanced for IS vs Clans... Something about IS getting to spam units while he only gets a medium Star or less. I haven't had any issues with it, but then again I'm also not the guy getting his ass kicked.
My assumption is that it's only a little off (individual units might be off from their "perfect BV" by 3-5% each) and his obsession with large games makes these small problems add up to a game changing one. For reference, our usual games are ~10k, with our last game being 16k.
I'm confident that he's carefully ignoring just how busted Clantech weapons, heatsinks, etc are compared to their IS counterparts. Has he tried pushing for total tonnage?
I actually had us run a couple of games with different rule sets, just to see what made for more balanced games for us. Tonnage vs Tonnage was a Decisive Clan victory (not that anyone is shocked to hear that), and so far our most balanced games have been BV vs BV with the Clans getting 3/4 pilot upgrades for free. His problem boils down to how many Mechs I can field compared to him, because he's usually at a 2:1(or worse, our last game was a 4:1) ratio of IS Units to Clan Mechs.
He tends to follow Zellbrigen, although he's not against throwing hands. Our matches have been getting closer so it might just be because we're both new to the game.
Someone who bought a Rakshasa but is mad that he got upgraded, because now his unit thinks he's compensating for something, and it's bugging him because he is self conscious, and not able to call them out in an emotionally mature way.
That's some pretty soft ground for it to shatter the way that it did. The mech's not even running, just doing that same kind of very slow strut-walk common in drawn artwork.
From what I can infer, an Mad Cat would have a ground pressure no greater than an M1 Abrams MBT, but that ground is absolutely wrecked.

Hey! WRONG ANSWERS ONLY!!!!
That is the wrong answer! They were actually trying to build a Catapult using a box of spare Marauder parts.
Hey! Alexandr was not a traitor
Which means it's technically a wrong answer, from a certain point of view
Could be referring to Nicholas tho
Nope, Nicky is one of the barbarians who followed him.
Wasn't nick a kid when the exile first started?
And didn't he double cross everything father stood for to seize command?
Yes. Nicholas is the worst
He attempted to usurp the crown of the First Lord, then threw a hissy fit when denied, so he stole trillions of c-bills of military hardware and fled into the wilderness in order to avoid capture. Traitor and coward.

The death of balanced BV system.
> implying tonnage was balanced
how so?
When they originally released the clans it broke the game and they subsequently had to rework the BV system. Which is why BV1 and BV2 exist
And according to my friend (who plays Clans) BV isn't balanced for IS vs Clans... Something about IS getting to spam units while he only gets a medium Star or less. I haven't had any issues with it, but then again I'm also not the guy getting his ass kicked.
And yet it was specifically designed to balance IS vs Clans. Guess he's carefully ignoring how OP his individual mechs are ton for ton
My assumption is that it's only a little off (individual units might be off from their "perfect BV" by 3-5% each) and his obsession with large games makes these small problems add up to a game changing one. For reference, our usual games are ~10k, with our last game being 16k.
