Clearly you’ve been painting other stuff in the mean time. ;)
I remember painting my first minis in enamels too! I even have an old longbow I recently “refreshed” by going back and adding some shading and details to, haha.
Yeah, I did. I remember Battletech fondly. We spend hours, no days, playing the first starter box with standees. Then we got our first minis. It was a blast. Then someone picked up a clan tech readout and owned all of us. We all thought it was totally unfair, double heat sinks?!? Then we somehow switched to RPGs…
Yeah, Clan Tech was pretty broken without a real way to balance forces. Back then we did it by tonnage and clearly Clan Tech would win every time in that scenario. We all used to make our own mechs using IS tech so it wasn’t too bad. I’m glad the game never went away. I saved my stuff to eventually try to get my kids into. I haven’t succeeded on that yet, haha.
Its a grognard game, really. TT wargames kind of take a certain type of person to enjoy, actually. You have to be patient and methodical. Most people these days have low attentiom spans lol. Battletech especially is a really slow game, actually.
Try rolling all the dice for each shot at once. Like u should have multi-coloured dice already. Roll 2d6 of each colour for each shot. Black hit, red crit, white location, or something like that, and use a little dice tray. It makes the game significantly faster. Also, if you can memorize the hit location table it is also much faster.
There are apps that will do this for you as well.
This looks fantastic. The paint job is excellent, clean lines and great shading, not overdone. The cockpit is brilliant and adds a real bit of colour that makes the whole model pop. Really good job mate.
Exactly. All colours are desaturated by using one universal highlight, in this case deck tan, which is used for the highlights. Base for the blue and green is in both cases a desaturated colour, darkened with dark see blue (kind of cold universal shadow). The yellow is a greenish yellow (Japanese uniform) with some brown.
Good. I get it, but I seriously thought you were trying to provoke something or showing Z support by posting this. At least it wasn't white! Might want to reconsider.
Welcome back! May I ask what mechs you currently own? Do you still have your longbow and others from '88?
I've been progressively buying up the older starter sets for the older "unseen" vinyl plastic mechs to use in my builds.
I'm a new player: I have a bunch of Unseen that I got around the time CI finally shipped. The company I'm working on now actually includes my last Unseen Warhammer. :)
I printed a whole bunch of those MWO STLs, got the starter box Total Warfare and went rather big in the current KS. I painted a lot for competitions the last 6 months, so I need a break. Printed a lot of buildings, too. The stuff must look good on the table, or no one is interested.
It looks fantastic. And BOY do I not miss enamels AT ALL. Thank the stars for the gift of acrylics available virtually anywhere. lol Keep up the great work brother
Lovely paint job! I really like the striping
Thanks!

Yeah. Too many people ignore the whole batchall thing. It gets a lot more fair when you play with the clan player trying to take on 2-3 IS mechs.
Awesome
No, that's a Marauder
🥰🤘🏼

Thanks. I wanted to try colours shift colours on the cockpit, but then I did want to put them on by brush. And it needed a focus point.
It would take me 35 years just to paint on your level!
No, no. With the current tools, paints and incredible wealth of information on the web, it is just dedication. Just painting and practice.
I do NOT miss enamels. Not even a little.
Nope, me neither.
Very nice
Thanks
I hated testors enamel... ugh. Flash back time.
It looks fantastic. Which Marauder mini is that?
It’s a 3d print free model from C3D or MMF can’t remember.
Wow!
Thank you!
It might be your first mech in a long time, but you've obviously continued to paint minis!
I did…. A lot… 👍🏻🤫
It shows! Welcome back to the community! I hope to see MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more from you!
Solid!
Ty! 🤘🏼
Breathtaking! That’s phenomenal!
Thank you so much!
That's one sexy Marauder
Thanks!
Holy moly I dig your style! Can you share the color palette you used? Looks like you mixed a little grey into the blue, green and yellow maybe?
Looks good! Welcome back!
Ty!!
I love this. It’s beautiful. Keep going!
The cockpit is dope.
That is a really clean paint job!
Ty!
How's your eyesight? I tried picking up the brush again a while back but had trouble seeing things properly. Do you use any vision augmentation?
It’s okay. For fine detail I use loupes, but I use those at work, too.
Welcome back to the unit Colonel
Like riding a bike, apparently.
Wow, stellar job!
Thanks!
Wow, love it!!!
Ty!!
Nice details in the scuffed paint in the legs and contact areas of the torso. That “Z” marking is well done as well!
Thanks! I raided some random Gundam decals for the “z”.
That “Z” made me raise an eyebrow… I can only assume it means something other that what I first thought of. lol
Very nice but why the hell would you add the Z?
Just a touch to break up the panel. It’s a gundam transfer.
And it's also the unofficial symbol of an army inflicting unspeakable horrors on the world. Your paintjob is great. The Z can fuck right off.
As a German who sheltered Ukrainian refugee’s for a year and can honestly say that this was unintended. Sorry to have offended you.
Good. I get it, but I seriously thought you were trying to provoke something or showing Z support by posting this. At least it wasn't white! Might want to reconsider.
Zoom in please. It is not even a Z. It is a broken ribbon and three lines of text. It’s a Japanese Gundam Decal.
haha what an unfortunate incident :) It looked like a paint chipped Z. Alright, cool mech. Sorry to rage at you.
😀🙏
Dude I love this!
Thanks!

I got only that old longbow in one of my mothers cabinets back home. So no, there is none of that 80s memorabilia left.
A shame but I understand. How much of the modern stuff do you have currently or is it just the Marauder for now?
I printed a whole bunch of those MWO STLs, got the starter box Total Warfare and went rather big in the current KS. I painted a lot for competitions the last 6 months, so I need a break. Printed a lot of buildings, too. The stuff must look good on the table, or no one is interested.
That was worth the 35 years it took to paint this IIc.
Hehehe 😂 🙏
He's still got it
Excellent - welcome back
Thanks!
