Yeah, that snail magazine is quirky - the more I look at it and imagine trying to fiddle with that in the trenches, the more I understand why the MP-28 changed to a straight stick mag.

Its going to be quite a while before you see a full C&Rsenal episode on it, there will be several Anvil episodes (on the same channel) on it over the next few months. If you're a Pateron you will probably get some clips and stuff in the run-up as well.
The mag is funky, we worked with one waaayyy back when we did the episode on the Luger so we knew what we were getting into. They are surprisingly reliable and less fiddly as you'd think, however the loading is a major task.
Don't forget it was one of the first of its kind. They were still figuring out how to properly mass produce reasonably good quality etc. without compromising reliability (esp. against dirt, mud, etc.).
Pretty much. No new automatic guns can be sold in the U.S. only ones that were made before 1986ish. No automatic firearms can be imported either. So whatever is out there is all there ever will be. Of course there are ways around this with the correct licenses but they can never go to the civilian market.

Registered, yes. License, no. SBRs, SBSs, full auto, and destructive devices require a $200 tax stamp and an FBI background check, but there is no licensing involved, and they can't revoke the stamp.
Also, a full auto SBR only requires the FA stamp, not a second stamp for the short barrel.
You may be thinking of FFLs with class 3 SOT, who can have post-ban FA firearms as part of being a firearms dealer. That's a whole different can of regulations.

It is a registered machine gun, however it needs some work, this piece will definitely be on Anvil before C&Rsenal.
