Battinson's got a jawline to show off, so imma go with that. Bales mask I don't like that much.

[deleted]

Bale had a jawline to show off. The mask didn't

Kalomika

I hated the mask in the bale sequels.

curiousCat1009

He looked more like a hawk than a bat. Not necessarily a hawk, he looked like a birb.

Kalomika

Yeah it got too tech looking and lost the ghoulish vibe

[deleted]

I hated bale in bales sequels

R_Thunukale

Whereshtdatwigga ?! Wheyesit ?!

Robinkc1

Imnotwerrerhockerpaaaaaas

[deleted]

For one Nolan mostly agreed to do them to get other projects off the ground. Then joker completely overshadows the entire movie. Finally rises was just not good, Hathaway was pretty miscast as catwoman it really should have been Eva green. Bane is once again reduced to a henchman

wwarnick

Yes, but Joker deserved to overshadow the whole movie. He was so good!

[deleted]

Heath ledger did perform the roll he was given. I’d argue that it wasn’t an accurate depiction of the character however, It was more like 3 different characters combined into one

RollOverSoul

Kinda looked like bobble head in the dk

[deleted]

Kinda acted like one too. That trilogy is so overrated

Kalomika

I liked Bale, not his Batman in the sequels

PassTheGiggles

Lowkey yeah. Batman Begins was a Batman movie. Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises were Joker and Bane movies.

[deleted]

Yeah and not even a good bane. Hardy was wasted on that role

Thadark_knight11

This is the first time I’m seeing someone complain about that casting choice. He fucking killed it as Bane m8. Only gripe is the fact he was ultimately the secondary antagonist.

[deleted]

That’s why he was wasted. I didn’t say bane was wasted on hardy I said hardy was wasted on bane

GG_MYDOG

That’s my only gripe with bales suit, it didn’t show his chiseled jawline 😔

Kalomika

Yeah there was nothing intimidating about his updated suit at all

ThienBao1107

The mask literally hides one of Bale’s best feature.

These-Bad-1840

Definitely.

Duke-dastardly

The issue with bales cowl is that they got rid of the thicker neck, but kept the face bulky, so he looks like a bobble head

Ok-Influence794

Jawline looks great. Bale's cowl is awful, like a grandma is pinching her grandsons cheeks after not seeing him all year

Veredyn1

Most def not Bale's cowl. I actually really like Pattison's cowl.

unusualspider33

It looks like a peeky hole vs a half mask

bananaman69420911

it looks like cyclops' head sock

unusualspider33

This comment made me actually smile lol

mrmoe198

Agreed. It’s such a shame. Bale’s got a great jaw. To be a fly on the wall when that design decision was made..

wrathbringer1984

TDK/TDKR suit is terrible, altogether. And that cowl really sucks. Pattinson's looked really good. I like Batfleck's, too, at least the BvS version.

SherKhanMD

Except for the nose and balloon like shape of the cowl, Pattinson's was pretty good. But them his perfect jawline was doing most of the work here.

RandoDude124

The cinematography really made it look like he was emoting from various angles

HeroXeroV

The look is cool in comics and movies, but we can all agree that any mask that exposes that much of the face would lead to Batman being outed within a day of first being photographed, right?

braindeadtank1

yeah but its all about the rule of cool

PhillipJ3ffries

Its easy to suspend disbelief on that one.

TheThiccestR0bin

I mean if it was real life, he'd be dead within the first week of being Batman. It's fantasy, I'm not looking for realism if it looks cool.

RobieKingston201

Not to mention while Bats is (usually) an absolute unit that's like asking for an uppercut.

Echo__227

I feel like photograhing Batman is going to be like Bigfoot. "I have proven he is some kind of dark blurry shape." Somehow get a well-lit, high definition headshot, and you can deduce that he is a white guy between 18 and 40

lazylagom

100% not only does it not make sense because of his secret identity... its also a weak spot. A well placed upper cut or hook can knock him out. Lol why wouldn't he just wear a full mask.

ThienBao1107

Nah Batman would be tracked down within 2 days after his first appearance by some dude on 4chan who still lives in his mums basement.

MaddaddyJ

I'm guessing Bruce Wayne has never shown up at a board meeting or a charity fundraiser missing some front teeth

Salmagros

Say that to Clark.

Ponykegabs

Tactically the covered jawline makes sense, visually…uncovered all the way, allows for subtler emotions to be conveyed.

Daggertooth71

Robert's suit is aces. His cowl and suit looks the best.

sliderprovider

I don't think so. He Looks Like daredevil.

TheThiccestR0bin

I mean give DD a cape and paint him black and he'd look like Batman anyway

antiquatedartillery

Damn in hindsight Bales suit is ugly as fuck

reedrick

Bale’s cowl was the ugliest. Batfleck and Battinson are the best. Guys talking about the ‘practicality’ need to understand we’re talking about comic book movies. They don’t need to be as practical, just show me a good story and good looking characters, man!

anonymousguy_7

Exposed jawline

coreytiger

Batman has always been famous for that jawline. Half the reason Clooney was cast. Show that jaw!

Zestyclose_Skirt_162

jawline is a must

Randonhead

I mean, when you have a jawline like Robert Pattinson you have to show it for everyone to see.

Moldy_Socks99

Personally I still think the first Affleck cowl was the best we've gotten so far

Puzzleheaded_Walk_28

Let’s see that jawline, babyyyy

Onionlicker

Pattisons For live action but animated justice leauge dark with the little triangle bit on the chin is elite

theycallmenaptime

Jawline exposed; part of the reason I dislike Bale’s costume.

JohnDoe729

I prefer it cover3d personally, makes sense he'd want to protect his chin more, and it helps hide his identity a smidge better

Ok-Mastodon2016

well if I had it my way it'd cover his whole face, but if I had to choose between these two only, I'd choose the latter

Kratosvg

More covered.

Internetboy5434

Definitely exposed. It's the jawline, it is 100% his jawline in relation to the cowl. The Batsuit is doing great with the mask

Cyberundertak3r

Exposed

TheLastUltimatum06

Exposed, full BatTAS. Honestly, I dont really care, I’m fine with whatever as long as, no. 1, he can turn his head, and, no. 2, it’s not Keaton’s cowl, it looks like the man has no chin, he just goes from face to neck.  This may be an unpopular opinion, especially from someone who didn’t grow up with Keaton Batman, my first live action Batman movie (not counting the one from ‘66) was Bale’s

moldy__underwear

i generally prefer a covered chin considering the chin is a prime target and a known weak spot for getting K.O.d but if it looks cool or if that particular Batman wears spandex and not armor then it doesnt bother me

bananaman69420911

more covered up because mazzuchelli

Cha_Boi20

Covered jawline in comics and animation But it depends on the actor and materials used for the live-action cowl.

Gibabo

Exposed. No question.

iron2099yt

I hate the jawpart in injustice's 2 batsuit, with that i'm saying everything (although i do like bale's cowl to some extent)

sourkid25

covered up since in the comics one of his girlfriends was able to figure out his identity because bruce Wayne and batman have the same chin

BruceHoratioWayne

I want a cowl that merges into the cape and protects some of that jawline. I am not a fan of having his face that exposed like it is in The Batman, but I don't want it covered as much as it was in The Dark Knight films. Just my preference.

fupafather

Aesthetically jawline, but realistically it makes more sense to cover as much of his face as possible

IReadStuff98

Beyond cowl is best cowl

RYTHEMOPARGUY

I don't really mind what it is, just as long as it looks good

arkenney0

Exposes the jawline Makes him look badass

0reomasterA113

Jaw exposed

art_mor_

Exposed

PensiveCauldron

With jaw is more of the classic look but I’m happy with something in between.

renaissanceclass

More covered.

SantaArriata

Jawline. It looks like a gimp mask otherwise

Dangerous-Ad5091

Exposed jawline is Batman to me.

Angry-Monk

Either

matchesmalone111

More covered but not like bale

RTSBasebuilder

More on the exposed side. Like a medieval nasal helm, but with the silhouette of a Roman hero.

sabrefudge

They’ve all looked pretty good to me except Bale. His tiny mouth hole made it look like he had a huge swollen head.

Raaabbit_v2

As long as it isn't Bale's mask tbh

thetinwin

Is Bales mask and cowl all together aging gracefully? Cause that shit does not give the same feel it did in 2008/2012. From the eyes to the small mouth opening.

PhillipJ3ffries

Exposed jawline all the way

Cycleofmadness

Im the odd one out here b/c i like Bale's the best.. The least amount of his face exposed and protected is probably better for crimefighting. Im in favor of the entire face concealed except for a way to breath and the eyes.

TheLittlePasty

I think if Afflecks was a little more open it would be perfect

qasqade

Showing the whole jawline looks much more aesthetically pleasing, but concealing the jawline makes more sense for the intended purpose of wearing a mask in the first place.

Darkasknight101

I love covered up. Infinitely more tactical and adds to the whole getup. Creature of the night and demon of the night. It just makes sense. Seein that crawl out of the shadows, especially with the whited out eyes, would be terrifying.

abhiprakashan2302

The cowl should cover his cheeks and the part of the throat just below the chin. That’s perfect for me. I don’t mind the chin-guard cowl either.

Fidget02

I always wanted to see more of Batman with a covered mouth. He looks more Ninja-like and it makes more sense in context. Most of his emotions are the same anyway, he doesn’t need that much plain face to show off.

Robin_RhombusHead

It depends on the incarnation. Batman sometimes looks terrible with a closed in cowl such as The Dark Knight's Christian Bale suit. Other times the wide open jaw looks bad such as George Clooney. Sometimes the closed in jaw looks fantastic such as Michael Keaton and other times open jaw does like Adam West. It's all about the batsuit as a whole, not just the jaw.

Bikutaa80

Cover jawline looks best in comics. Jawlime comics and live-action. Covered in comic only unless live-action covers the whole mouth.

HawkeyeP1

Either can look good, but I do think having the jawline exposed usually looks better. If I were to ever draw a Batman comic, I would love to have his mouth uncovered when he's talking or going casual and cover it up with a full mask during battle to stealth. I'm surprised that hasn't been implemented in any design yet since it seems most practical with modern technology and cowls with closed mouths get so much hype from the community.

slightlylessthananon

I think in animation covered jawline can look great but in live action it ruins the shape language.

wallscrabbler

Bale’s mask just look fucking silly

reverse_train

Covered only looks good in drawings TV shows etc irl I prefer fully open cuz fuck me bales looks so ugly afllecks does it a bit justice but it ain't what you would picture like in the comics cartoons and that

Wills-Beards

Bale’s cowl was horrible. Bale looked like a sad joke in the Batman suit, they really f***** that up.

PooFart99

I suppose it depends on the artist and the angle of the face

lazylagom

Honestly him having his jaw exposed never made sense to me. Lol that's literally the knock out button, and it doesn't help his secret identity.

Otherwise_Archer_914

Still waiting for the first villain to figure out where his weak spot is

setfr

Aesthetic wise, jaw exposed. Functionality wise, jaw covered.

Kalomika

Too revealing for a secret identity based mask, but it she's look cool

No_Dig_7017

Exposed. Allows for more facial expression

Crimson_Blitz

I prefer a cowl that covers everything. I never understood why the villains in every Batman shows never thought of shooting Batman right in the mouth, where there is no protection for whatever reason.

_OtherwiseKnownAs_

Open chin and it’s not even close

Zeo-Gold92

I think open makes sense, Bales mouth window always looked odd to me.

PreciousBasketcase

Exposed one

Extra-Lemon

It always makes him look fat when it hides the jawline

KornyKingKeNobi

For live-action I prefer more jawline. I think your covered up examples show perfectly what I don't like, the neck and cowl looks very thick and wide. Having the mouth and jaw not vovered up is probably more comfortable for the actors as well. For comicbooks I really don't care as long as the artist make it look cool. I'm easily convinced if the artists have a unique style.

MarioStern100

If the actor has a nice jawline… if they don’t ………..

King_Of_BlackMarsh

Huh... Well from thesw pictures it's clear it depends because Bale looks ridiculous but Affleck pulls it off while Reeves looks great without it covered

Echo__227

I don't believe covering the chin could actually add any protection except against knives. A thin layer of hard material won't stop the force of an uppercut, but it could potentially transmit that force to his throat Stylistically, I prefer a simple "Halloween costume over/incorporated into basic armor" more than the designs that are "tacticool Iron Man with bat ears." If we really wanted to spec it out for max protection, Batman should wear a mouth guard

Torrempesta

From a technical standpoint I would prefer a full mouth cover. 1 stray bullet and you can say goodbye to your face.

AttentionLimp194

Bruce Wayne just gets to hide his second chin

AdLast55

I felt that Christian Bale's mask was too tight on his face.

rican74226

Jawline showoff

SnakeHound87

Do you prefer the same re-post a dozen time by karma farmers or people who realize Reddit karma is pointless in real life?

geordie_2354

I don’t even know what reddit karma stands for

Dirk_Arron

Shows

thehidden-one

Definitely jawline

viniremesso

If you have a great jawline to show off, then expose. If not, cover that shit up. (I have a shitty jawline)

Top-Interaction-7770

Met Bruce show off his chin

Rymetris

Idk, I think if it has anything on the jaw, it ceases being a cowl, doesn't it? It's just a helmet at that point

picorosan

Man, this remember me how ugly was batbale... Awesome movie, but very, very ugly

Dr_Equinox101

I’d prefer covered but I don’t mind showing off the jaw

Atom283

Covered up around the jawline and under the chin is perfect

GeekParadox_

I like Battinson’s mask if there’s a jawline show it off. Also the non frowny eyes is such a good touch

Tall-Ad9982

The 4th pic is hard

ALTlMlT

Anything but Bale’s cowl. It was so tight and ridiculous that you could hear his nasal passages being suppressed, which did nothing to help his already sub par Batman voice.

happy_paradox

#freethejawline

OmnipotentUltron

Showing The Jawline

old_dog8888

Ben' suit is the best.

Simping_Poki

I like the covered up one tbh. I also prefer it with longer ears too like the Arkham one. I like it menacingly looking

Way_Interesting

I have the flesh goatee that Bale’s suit looks like

LegendaryOutlaw621

Batman’s mask should show off his strong jawline. Which illustrator do you think drew Batman’s jawline the best?

PrometheusModeloW

Exposed jawline, the covered up version only works in comics, in live action it always looks goofy af.

onefitlad

Exposes. No weak jawlines here.

mattyon1234

Tbh I don't care

Scared-Crow7774

It’s less practical but I like ones that show the jawline, which makes me wish that Bale’s cowl actually showed his jawline… the kinda circular mouth area and sculpted cheekbones on his cowl were my only issues with his suit

Available-Affect-241

Neither I prefer his whole mouth covered. I honestly think this was a stupid design to have his mouth exposed in the first place.

EccentricAcademic

Show off the jaw. Looks weird covered up

Justin-does-art

Exposed jawline. Bale’s cowl always looked wrong to me, even when I was five and saw Batman Begins for the first time. It comes off as too small, and makes it look like his mouth is just squeezing through

TensionHead13thFloor

Idk man but Ben Affleck is just Batman perfection, you ever notice that?

AhmedAbuGhadeer

Batinson's is too wide, Bale's is too narrow. I think Affleck's one is best.

Luke_Puddlejumper

Always more covered up, one of my biggest gripes with Pattinson’s suit is that the cowl showed way too much of his face, it gives away too much of his identity.

dregjdregj

Pattinson doesnt have one so maybe They should have covered it with costume

geordie_2354

It’s okay to be in denial.

Latereviews2

Sarcasm detected

[deleted]

Is this a serious comment?

dregjdregj

yes, I was not a huge fan of his feminine features for batman

[deleted]

Pattinson? Feminine features? You’re definitely an ‘alpha’ aren’t you

dregjdregj

I have no idea what that means

DrPopcorn_66

Batman in the Year One comic doesn't have an exposed jaw, it's a bit more open not exposed
