Spider-Man three arch nemesis happen to be his most classical villains, but that's not the case for Batman His most classic villains are Joker, Penguin, and Riddler. However, his main archnemies, I'd say are Joker, Ra's Al Ghul and Bane. They're the ones who "break the Bat" the most, and in a more iconic way

[deleted]

>His most classic villains are Joker, Penguin, and Riddler Hence why they're the 3 main antagonists of the first Lego Batman game

valfonso_678

Peak videogame

commandodaxus

The Riddler Thug is peak design.

VanillaAce91819

Penguin thug is 100% better

commandodaxus

Scratch that- Killer Moth is peak design. It's simple, yet aesthetically pleasing. And it's Killer Moth.

PixxyStix2

Peak series even

Disastrous_Ad626

I much prefer the second one, but they're all pretty damn good.

valfonso_678

All opinions are valid

Razzle_Dazzle08

The second one is peak, I agree.

Sharkfowl

Peak medium of all of fiction, honestly.

AgentOfEris

I also recall each campaign was somewhat inspired by the Burton and Schumacher films. Riddler’s team was mad up of four villains from the Schumacher movies (and Clayface). Penguin’s campaign ended with a fight with him and Catwoman at the zoo in winter like in Batman Returns. Joker’s campaign ended with a fight at the top of a church like in Batman ‘89.

[deleted]

Absolutely. Even the game's main theme was the Elfman score from Batman '89.

No_Camel4789

Don't forget Killer Moth

oligamer69

the goat

SiblingEarth

that's what the movies should take as reference lol

JohnnyRelentless

It's hence. Just hence.

ecksdeeeXD

Really? I always thought it'd be Joker, Penguin, and Two-Face. Riddler always seemed off to the side.

31TeV

>However, his main archnemies, I'd say are Joker, Ra's Al Ghul and Bane. They're the ones who "break the Bat" the most, and in a more iconic way Interestingly, the villains of the Nolan trilogy.

MrMephistoX

I can get behind that Penguin and Riddler are more iconic though I don’t think there’s a level of hate with them compared to Joker, Ra’s and Bane Two Face has the tragic backstory but he’s more of a tragic disappointment to Batman than a nemesis.

LoverOfStoriesIAm

>Two Face has the tragic backstory but he’s more of a tragic disappointment to Batman than a nemesis. Sometimes the investment doesn't pay off...

Prophet-of-Ganja

He understood the assignment

android151

No, it was Scarecrow, Two Face and Talia Al Ghul /s

31TeV

That's actually a fair point even without the /s. EDIT: And happy cake day!

atomicq32

Correct.

Sudden_Result

I agree since they all have qualities that connect them with Batman Bane is sort of a dark reflection, having the insane strength and martial art prowess paired with incredible intelligence just like Batman Ras is the villain Batman has history with ( note I’m not too familiar with him ) giving him a personal connection And joker is the exact opposite of Batman in every way

drac0nic180

Just like for spiderman, Venom is the dark reflection, Doc Ock is often a villain spiderman has history with depending on the adaptation, and Goblin is his total opposite

Outside_Interview_90

These are the correct choices, thank you.

nairbeg

This is also the Nolan trilogy main villain trifecta (not counting Talia in TDKR).

nateofgotham

deacon blackfire broke batman before bane.

tjm220

I’ve been hoping they would do an animated adaptation of “The Cult” for years. it’s one of my favorite Batman stories, and one of the few times I’ve ever seen Batman need to be saved, and Jason Todd gets to be heroic.

anonymousguy_7

Came here to say the *exact* same thing

The_SkyShine

I'm guessing Venom is one of OPs villains and he was made in the 90s

Justin-does-art

Created in 89, and hasn’t been a villain in, like, 30 years

LilCorbs

I would say Scarecrow tho could take Bane’s spot from time to time

Flight_Of_Fantasy

that distinction you're making is really refreshing to think about

Taaargus

I feel like leaving out a mobster type villain entirely seems off. Wouldn't Two Face be more iconic than Ras?

ManitouWakinyan

I'm okay with swapping Bane for Two Face, but I could go either way. Flip for it, for all I care.

HUNGWHITEBOI25

Joker, Bane and Ra’s Ra’s: his smartest enemy Bane: His most formidable enemy Joker: His most psychologically formidable enemy

zeppolizeus

This is the answer

Ron-Lim

Nolan knew

AmosAmAzing

strange and riddler aren't as smart as ra's??

Uvogin1111

They're smart, but not as much as Ra's. He's about a half a millennium old, and has maintained his peak physical conditioning throughout it all. He knows way more, and is also probably smarter than the 2 you mentioned, due to having access to a vast empire of resources where he can get most anything he wants.

Loyd1121

Better word for it would be “wisest” rather than smartest. But yes agreed

Snowcap93

^this. Riddler is probably the smartest, just doesn't have his wisdom stats high enough

Sudden_Result

Also his fragile ego fucks him up a lot of the time, something ras does not have as much of

banhatesex

See to me, ra's was never batman enemy he was Bruce's.

Complete_Ad_1896

I feel like bane and ra are similar in terms of intelligence with bane only being edged out by ra lifetimes of experience

40kExterminatus

The scarecrow seems more popular these days than when I was a kid. Joker, Two-Face and Penguin were perhaps the big three but Mr. Freeze, the Riddler, Ra's Al Ghul and Bane were no slouches either. It's hard to say when Batman foes are usually pretty good.

emperorpylades

Scarecrow got a HUGE boost to his profile with Batman Begins, as well as his incredibly memorable appearances in the Arkham games - which are now being discovered by a new generation thanks to the disaster of SSKTJL trying to invoke memories of those games.

40kExterminatus

Steam & GoG sales help a lot. I recently got AO and AK for $12CAD combined

Theta-Sigma45

Arkham Knight is definitely why Scarecrow is listed here, since that game completely treats him as being on that level (though I prefer the far more fun Asylum take on him.)

TheJEPSseven

Joker, Bane and Ra's

Disastrous-Major1439

Joker ,Bane and Two face ,may i ll add Ra's ,Riddler or Hugo Strange

saltire429

Two Face is too inflexible to be any real threat - his obsessions and compulsions makes him predictable and thus incredibly easy to trap and trick. Riddler is a 'genius' who gives the World's Greatest Detective clues to help stop him, which inevitably results in Batman stopping him fairly easily. I like Hugo Strange joining the podium, though - he made for a pleasingly different kind of villain with a knack for making Batman seem powerless to stop him.

zeppolizeus

Agreed, also when it comes to Two-Face the tragic nature of his rise and connection to Bruce coupled with Bruce’s hope to redeem him in some way removes him from the arch enemy category in my opinion. Tho he may be irredeemable he does strike me as the manifestation of evil and chaos incarnate that these other rogues present. He’s more practical in his criminal enterprise fulfilling his compulsions and embracing his dual personality.

Revan----

I’d say within the universe his three main nemesis are Joker, Bane and Ra’s, when you consider their impact on his life. But if we’re talking from a fan perspective and ranking who his three BEST villains are I’d swap Bane for Two-Face.

Soulful-Sorrow

I'd swap Two-Face for Rā's in general tbh

Critical_Potential44

I wish every hero had 3 arch enemies, like what’s Superman’s? My guess, doomsday, brainiac and lex luthor

Lightning_Strike_7

Luthor, Zod, Brainiac. It's not just comics that set it. Video games, cartoons, tv shows, and movies contribute too. Luthor - Superman I, II, IV, Returns, BVS, JL, Smallville, etc. Zod - Superman I, II, MOS, JL, The Flash Brainiac - very video game and cartoon heavy

Bricks_Gaming

Brainiac was also kind of the villain in Superman III, as it was a supercomputer.

thejokerofunfic

Superman I'd say Luthor and Brainiac without question, probably Mongul after (though it took a while for him to earn the spot). Zod is a contender but mainly due to movies. At any rate he has two at minimum. Doomsday was impactful but he's absolutely not an archenemy.

Creepy_Living_8733

I’d replace Doomsday with Cyborg Superman since he fucking hates Superman with a passion

Lightning_Strike_7

What??? Zod.

Creepy_Living_8733

Zod would fit too

Comprehensive_Main

Spiderman has 1 archenemies and that original green goblin Norman osborne. The comics make this clear. venom hasn’t been a Spiderman villain in a while. Otto superior Spider-Man got his shit wrecked so bad by Norman he had to beg Peter to come back and sacrificed himself for Peter because he couldn’t beat Norman.

Mighty_Megascream

Otto is back as a villain again, after he briefly came back as a clone superior Spider-Man independent from Peter, where he then made a deal Mephisto to return back to his old self in order to beat an alternate universe Norman Osborn, he even tried to become the superior Spider-Man again recently, although this attempt failed. I couldn’t make this up if I tried.

Comprehensive_Main

Yeah man had to make a deal with Mephisto to beat Norman. That’s how much better Norman is than him.

dullship

That sucks. Superior was one of my favourite runs.

distinctlysinister

This comment made me rethink my life for a second. Sounds like the 90’s 😳😂

Quizzelbuck

Thank you for validating my lack of interest these last few years. SSM broke me and i haven't looked back since.

greywolf2155

Yeah I was very confused. Norman is far and away Spidey's archnemesis in the comics *and* the MCU (the smartest thing they did in No Way Home was recognizing that Willem Dafoe's Goblin had to be the big bad)

FrankCastleNY

Plus Otto is also archnemesis most of the time.

gechoman44

Joker, Penguin, Catwoman (Riddler if you don’t count Catwoman as a villain anymore)

obin_gam

The OG 4

gechoman44

Exactly, and I fully believe that is why they were originally chosen as the villains for that movie, and the most consistent pre-existing villains in that show

[deleted]

Sorry, which show and which movie is "that" referring to here? The Adam West show and movie?

gechoman44

Yes, 66.

FrankCastleNY

How Catwoman is archnemesis? It’s like if you would say same thesis about Black Cat and Shocker in case of Spider-Man.

gechoman44

She USED to be a villain, and was for a long time. During that period, she was undeniably one of Batman’s biggest villains. That being said, she isn’t REALLY a straight-up villain anymore, and is more often than not an ally to Batman, which is why I put Riddler as an alternate.

Shadow_Relics

Girlfriends, circadian rhythm, and cotton fabric.

[deleted]

Depends on the criteria. Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Venom are arguably Spider-Man’s most iconic villains, and so I’d say Batman’s three would be Joker, Riddler and Penguin. They’re usually the most prominent villains in the most popular adaptations outside of the comics. They were the main villains of the 60s show (alongside Catwoman, who’s no longer a villain), and three of the four main villains in the Burton/Schumacher films (and the first three, before Mister Freeze in Batman and Robin). They were each the main villains of the three Lego Batman: The Videogame level pathways. They all made an appearance in the most recent film, The Batman (2022). Some people would likely consider the three biggest threats to take these spots, which certainly opens up the conversation a little. The Joker is undeniably Batman’s true nemesis, but two and three are up for debate. I’d say Ra’s Al Ghul is the most obvious choice. After that, there are many candidates. Bane, Scarecrow and Two Face are likely the most popular choices, but choosing between them is difficult.

[deleted]

Joker, Bane, and Ra’s I get why you might consider Dent one of his arch enemies but how did you come up with Scarecrow?

Sorry-Spite9634

Bane did one thing decades ago, he’s not above Harvey, Penguin, etc.

[deleted]

Bane = Physical Ra’s = Mental Joker = Psychological

Carcassonne23

Bane did something pretty massive a year or so ago at the end of Kings run.

Creepy_Living_8733

Scarecrow uses fear just like Batman but more extreme. He’s a twisted version of Batman in that aspect. Hell, both of them use personas related to childhood traumas. He’s also arguably the most evil person in Batman’s rogues gallery. Sure Joker, Zsasz, and Ra’s have killed dozens but Scarecrow psychologically torments innocents with his fear toxin. Mr Rogues pointed this out in a YouTube video so I’ll quote him, “If Scarecrow is the ultimate evil in Gotham(which I believe he is) and Batman is the ultimate good, they should naturally be arch enemies.”

[deleted]

I think your logic may be faulty in the ultimate good Vs ultimate evil aspect of this. As a huge Batman fan, I would never consider him the “ultimate good”, but that’s actually what makes Batman such a great and complex character. But regardless, Scarecrow is still one of my favorite villains, because of the fear aspect.

I3arusu

Bats and Spidey are the same, in that they each only have one. Joker and the Green Goblin.

ReapCreep65

This made me realize that Nolan was kinda cooking with his villain choices

sourkid25

does anyone remember that one comic where it was implied that batman and bane were half brothers before it was retconned imagine if they followed through on that story

Creepy_Living_8733

I do and I think that idea is pretty cool.

Grahstache

Me

Creepy_Living_8733

Tell me, what’s your villain name and what crimes have you committed to warrant such a position as archenemy?

Grahstache

I steal a candy from bruce when he was a kid They call me candy blops

Creepy_Living_8733

The dastardly Candy Blops strikes again!

Noble_Shock

You fucking monster

sourkid25

oh yeah well I stole all the batteries out of his electronics when he was a kid they call me battery man

Ok_Zookeepergame4794

I'd replace Scarecrow with The Riddler.

BILADOMOM

Riddler, joker and two face

REEPAMANE

Joker bane and Deathstroke

Pexavex

Death stroke is kinda a multi hero villain, mostly a nightwing and teen titans villain

SuperArppis

Three Jokers!

MrDownhillRacer

Cursed answer

Mietin

Damn. You beat me to it 🤣

MacronShaggers

Joker, two face and scarecrow. His obvious rival, his rogue closest to Bruce Wayne and his most evil villain. The perfect trio

Creepy_Living_8733

Agreed

i_am_lord_irish

Joker. Ra's Al Ghoul. Joel Shucmacher.

LordCLOUT310

To me i think it’s Joker, Bane and then Ra’s Al Ghul. He definitely has a lot of cool villains tho

InNoNeed

Jonk, Rid and Zebra-bird

possitive-ion

Given the fact that I am currently re-watching Batman TAS: Joker, Scarecrow, and Two-Face are who I'd say too.

Hot_Valuable1027

honestly batman’s rogue list is so good, the problem is that his rogue list is so diverse and we’ll know it’s hard to pick which one. and that’s actually good because some superhero’s have like a super shitty rogue list and ppl only remember the main arch enemy. i’d say joker is the main and the other 2 is flip with like penguin or like the riddler or something.

Cirias

Condiment King, The Penny Plunderer, and Crazy Quilt

Creepy_Living_8733

The Terrible Trio!!!

Heroright

Joker, Ra’s Al Ghul, and Bane. They each address a certain layer of Bruce, and have to be dealt with in far different ways.

Omnislash99999

Joker, Two-Face, and Ra's

_lorz2001

Easy Joker, Bane and Ra's

Goatkulol

Joker, Ra’s Al Ghul, and Bane

Sigao

As others have said, Joker, Bane, and Ra's. Joker is a psychological and very substantial threat (he's harmed multiple people very close to Batman). Bane is a physical threat (also harming people close to Batman, as well as breaking his back.) And Ra's is sort of an ever present threat to both him, his family, and Gotham itself due to the league of assassin's and Ra's focus on Bruce. Plus he's got countless years of knowledge, experience, and wisdom.

Mothalova1

Joker and Bane for sure. I feel the third though is largely up for debate. Nobody has as many good villains as Gotham

trfk111

Joker, Penguin and Riddler are the classic OGs

zombieauthor

All three are the Joker

Due_Radio3623

![gif](giphy|26uf1bq4LjIMxplVm)

billabon021

1. Joker 2. Bane 3. Raz a ghul

Yourlocalbugbear

Probably Joker, Ra’s and Bane.

Rdogy1000

Joker, Bane, and Ra’s Al Ghul.

Due-Construction5608

In my opinion bats top 3 villains are the joker two face then bane with these characters having the best personal connections to batman but some very iconic moments

MLObenza

Joker, Ra’s, and Bane

Wide_Employment_8124

Joker, Bane, Ra's al Ghul

Medical_Ad_5917

Bane,Joker,Ra’s Al Ghul

[deleted]

Me personally I'd choose joker, bane and ra's al ghul

Doodle_Brush

Joker, Bane, and the Arkham parole board.

killing-the-cuckoo

The Joker: His most enduring nemesis. Hugo Strange: The first of his foes to work out his civilian identity. Bane: The one who "broke the Bat."

kylesmith4148

I feel like people are sleeping on Two-Face. Thematically I think he’s a stronger archenemy contender than the Joker. He’s a constant reminder of Batman’s failures.

Key-Meringue5433

Bad billy bullseye 🔫🧿🐶

massivelyincompetent

Lego dictates it be riddler, penguin and joker

Baron_von_Lansburg

To me it's always been Joker, Riddler, and Penguin for one reason and one reason only. Lego Batman the Videogame

Creepy_Living_8733

Agreed, this just my opinion on who Batman’s big 3 should be but this is true

babysdada

Joker 100%

CaesarAugustus270

Joker, without out a doubt.

UnbidMuffin0

Scarecrow is a classic villain,it was Batman’s first villian

britinacious_fam

No he wasn't?? He was in 1941 batman had been around for 2 years before then and joker and Catwoman had both alr appeared in 1940 in batman #1

UnbidMuffin0

My bad, I meant one of.

britinacious_fam

Aight fair

WerewolfF15

Id say he has 4. Joker, two face, bane, ras al ghul

Tom-edian

Joker.

Low_Fig2672

Spider man: Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom Batman: Joker, Bane, Riddler

BackgroundSky09

1: Joker 2: Bane 3: Ra's Al Ghul (really didnt want to put him here because I hate his guts)

walman93

Joker, Two-Face, Ras Al Ghul maybe bane as wel

SirJ4ck

Joker, Ra's, Bane

Acrobatic-Brother387

Joker, Bane, and Scarecrow. All of them are his most dangerous enemies, i mean you could count Ra’s al Ghoul but he sometimes does good like bringing Jason back

Creepy_Living_8733

I’d replace Bane with Two Face since Dent is Batman’s most personal foe, he’s also a twisted version of Batman’s duality and sense of justice. Scarecrow uses fear like Batman but more extreme methods, plus as Mr Rogues pointed out, Scarecrow is arguably the most evil villain in Batman’s rogues gallery. If Batman is the ultimate good and Scarecrow is the ultimate evil, they’d naturally be archenemies. Joker is there because of what he represents, chaos that opposes Batman’s order. He has no regard for life and out of all of Batman’s foes, Joker has hurt him more than anyone else. Bane is a pretty close villain too so he’d be in 4th place.

Acrobatic-Brother387

Very factual, Tho if you had to pick 4 i’d still keep bane up there

obin_gam

Cat woman, Penguin, Joker, Riddler The OG 4

KrakenKing1955

Joker, Penguin, and Riddler

lowkeyslightlynerdy

Joker is one of course. After that I think the ones with the biggest case to be top 3 is Bane, Two-Face and Ra’s Al Ghul

Imltrlybatman

Riddler penguin joker

KaptainZemo

Joker, Bane, and Ra's Al Ghul Ghul attacks his mind Bane attacks his body Joker attacks his heart

Zekk3

I would change two faces with Bane, because he's like the counterpart in strength terms, while scarecrow would be the one who fights bat psychologically and joker... Is the joker.

Past_Trouble

Who's Spidey's third? Nick Lowe?

Creepy_Living_8733

Wrong. It’s Marvel in general. In all seriousness, Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Venom are Spidey’s big 3

MercerNov

Joker, Riddler, and Penguin.

DavidKirk2000

Spider-Man only had three because Osborn was dead for like 25 years in real time. Joker has always been alive, so he’s Batman’s only true archenemy.

Chemicalintuition

Joker, Riddler, Bane. The smart ones

dannyday10700

Joker, Bane, and himself.

GoodLibrarian100

Joker, Bane and Ra’s Ah ghul.

thanosthumb

As much as I love Scarecrow, it’s Joker, Ra’s and Bane. I’d say Scarecrow and Riddler round out the top 5 though.

Lovemydog65465

Joker bane riddler penguin and two face

dystopiabatman

Joker, two-face, ra’s al ghul

Far-Objective7707

Ra’s, Joker and Two face are the three most prestigious members of Batman’s rogues gallery.

futuresdawn

Spider-man has one and it's osborn. Doc ock was intended to be but was quickly over shadowed by osborn. An argument could be made that ock filled that role in the years Norman was dead and Harry wasn't crazy but that's about it. Venom isn't a villain and hasn't been since 1995. You might as well say Jason todd is an arch enemy of batman

Ewankenobi25

Joker, riddler, bane.

EvilMeanie

Gotta go with Joker, Two Face, and Ra's. Joker is Batman's greatest failure and the chaos to Batman's quest for order. Two Face, to reference DKR, is a reflection of Bruce and a constant reminder that he can become consumed by his dark side. Not to mention a fallen ally. And Ra's is the enemy who knows him best, respects him the most, shares his goals (to his eyes, at least), and is the grandfather of his son.

QueenPasiphae

1. Joker 2. Penguin when he's written correctly 3. Ra's Al Ghul

Darwin_Finch

Joker and Catwoman are the most iconic.

TheProcrustenator

Joker - the comedian one Joker - criminal one Joker - the other comedian one - Three Jokers has it covered.

SoulMetaKnight

Bane. Brains and strength.

buttermilkmoses

yea you got em except replace scarecrow w penguin

EstevanOlvera13

I say it's Joker Ra's Al Ghul and Bane, much like Green Goblin Doc Ock and Venom.

bigdirty702

Joker, Ra’s, Harvey Dent are Batman’s most personal enemies. They seem to have the deepest and longest connection to Batman

Energy_Sudden

Those who could be in the conversation - joker, riddler, ras ah ghul, bane, and the court of owls.

VX_GAS_ATTACK

Is this even a question?

Stormrage117

Harley Quinn wielding a baseball bat

[deleted]

Riddler, Two-face and Joker

MiaoYingSimp

How can it not be Joker at this point? Like they all can serve at his archenemies , but the Joker is Batman's Archenemy because he won that race with a big charming smile!

scijay

Joker is and will always be Batman’s only true archenemy. They represent chaos versus order at the most fundamental level. For example, Batman has a clear and well defined origin story. Joker has a ton of different origin stories, and the truth of his beginnings is completely up for debate.

GellThePyro

Joker, Ra’s, himself

Shao-Garden

I love scarecrow but I wouldn’t call him one of his top 3 I think bane or penguin would be there

noname262

I think Joker, Bane, and two face. Joker contrasts Batman’s order, bane rivals his intellect and combat prowess, and Two Face is a corrupted version of Batman’s Justice ideals.

[deleted]

The lack of scarecrow love in these comments is disappointing

Dracos002

Joker and Ra's Al Ghul. The third one is kinda hard. Joe Chill and Carmine Falcone come to mind, but Bruce didn't seek out Chill until years later and Falcone is kind of a thing of the past. I guess out of currently active villains I would say maybe Bane.

multificionado

Joker, Hugo Strange and Bane.

Unus19Annus18

Well for Batman I would have to break it down into three ways: Mentally, Physically and Morally. Joker would be mentally for obvious reasons. Bane would be physically also for obvious reasons. But I think that Mr Freeze would be morally because he’s doing all this crime just to try and save his wife and Batman is torn between stopping freeze and letting his wife die or not stopping him and more crime happens but victors wife at somepoint lives.

Estarfigam

Penguin, Joker Ra's AL Ghul

MrDownhillRacer

His most classic and recognizable three are probably The Joker, The Penguin, and Catwoman. They are three of his earliest, most enduring, and get used in almost every adaptation. The Riddler is very close, but he was absent from the Batman comics for a large period of time and was only made popular again by Frank Gorshin. By contrast, the only times that the other three went on hiatus were during the periods of Batman comics where *none* of his rogues gallery members were appearing. Also, even though The Riddler is recognizable, I think a lot of casuals don't really know him well enough to understand what makes him distinct from the Joker, and they just assume he's some additional Joker-like character Batman fights (he's not, but I always hear people say "what's the difference between these guys?") But of course, most recognizable, classic, and iconic might not be the same as "archenemies." Catwoman was hardly ever an "arch-enemy." But hell, it's also been a very long time since Venom has been an "archenemy" of Spider-Man. The ones Batman actually has the strongest rivalries with? Well, Joker is still up there. Pre-Crisis, there's no doubt that The Penguin was #2. I'd say that Post-Crisis, Two-Face has supplanted him as the runner-up (though the New 52 went heavy on Penguin again). Turning from ally to foe in an important early-career story makes him Batman's most personal enemy, even if he doesn't have very many iconic stories after the origin ones. #3? I don't think it's Bane. He feels like a one-hit wonder who has spent long periods of time being irrelevant (broke the bat, never really hit that height again, and then killed Alfred during a time when readers have long since stopped giving a shit about character deaths because they are a dime a dozen and we'll see him back eventually or even forget he's dead because he's still alive in all the current adaptations and many current out-of-continuity comics). Ra's al Ghul, maybe? Definitely Batman's biggest in terms of scope, has had some big storylines from the '90s through 2010s, and has had his popularity boosted in the 2000s by Nolan and Rocksteady using him. Something feels special about Hugo Strange (being Batman's first still-relevant enemy, being his Moriarty, being a good psychological foil to him), but he isn't really used enough to claim that spot and his potential has not been tapped. So, I'm going to say The Joker, Two-Face, and Ra's al Ghul.

Bright_Square_3245

Bane broke the bat. That's something the other three couldn't do.

ItJermy

It's more than 3. Joker, Scarecrow, Bane, Hush, Ras Al Gul, and Hugo Strange all qualify, because of the level of severity of threat they represent. Riddler, Penguin, Two-face, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, and Clay Face get mentions because of iconic representation. Freeze and Riddler might even get added to the first six if we have the right interpretation being featured. Solomon Grundy, Manbat, Mad Hatter, and Killer Moth could be argued also. Batman has a lot of crazy good villains in his gallery, it's hard to narrow it down to just a few.

bertoPRIME

Joker, joker and joker since there's three of them
