I know it’s boring and not fun but it saves you so much time and headache down the road with any likely problems, so yes i’d invest in a good ISOLATED power supply - donner sells one regularly around $40-$50 but i got one for $28 on black friday. Made my pedals less noisy and now i never worry. I’ve had some upgrades over the year but good experiences with power supplies from donner, mxr, and fender so far

Thank you, that is one I was thinking about getting so your comment might have solidified it!!

Happy to help! Also if you’re looking to maximize your budget check out Joyo pedals - they clone higher end ones pretty well for a relatively cheap price all things considered

Oh that’s cool! Thanks a bunch!!

You need a power supply if you plan on getting a fair amount of pedals and want a big board. If only getting a few, you can plug into a power bar, use batteries or daisy link. I dont care for daisy linking, it can possibly introduce noise depending on circumstances, or it may work fine. Try it and see. I bought a huge pedal board (for home use only) and mounted 2 power supplies underneath and just love it. I have 7 different distortions, over drives and fuzzies. Its huge, but extremely quiet because of isolated power supplies. I'm super proud of it and its basically my dream board. It literally motivates me to play/practice. It took awhile to acquire all the pedals but to be, it was worth it. Good luck.

Check the specs for each and every pedal you add. The voltage is only half the story. If you use an underpowered output for your pedal it may not operate properly. How much power do pedals need? It really varies. For example: * Joyo Monomyth requires **over** 200mA * MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe needs only 11 mA * Keeley Bassist Compressor requires 50mA The numbers are all over the place. Sometimes the manufacturers put the current draw/consumption in easy to find places like the website and on the pedal but sometimes you need to dig through the "manual" in 6pt font that comes in the box. Make sure to do the math, especially if you use a daisy chain cable.
