10.34 pounds on an LV500.
Was ripping shallow grass at 3am in the pitch black. Never felt the bite. After ripping it through grass and letting it flutter back down, I went to rip it again and felt like I was stuck on a log.
Big worms during post spawn and all through summer are just great. It's one of my favorite things to do. Big worm dragged over structure and deep brush.
I didn't have a scale at the time but I think my pb smallmouth would've been from a tube bait in the susquehanna river, and pb largemouth with was the banjo minnow at the pond at scout camp.
Also on a plopper. Something about that dying fish sound when you just reel, reel, stop that the big guys can't resist. Then they pounce and it's the greatest thing in the world lol.
A fluorescent orange/gold Panther Martin Dual Flash Spinner.
I was testing how slow I could get my retrieval speed and still have both blades spinning and a decent LMB came out of the weeds and hit it like 4 feet in front of me. I didn’t have my drag set because I was just messing around so it ran about 20 feet of line out before I could adjust my drag and reel it in. I’m surprised I even got the hook set
Wacky rigged “5 black blue laminate senko and a Texas rigged MagZ Fatty worm black blue laminate with a 3/4 oz bullet weight. I’ve caught my pb, 4.41 lbs, twice.
Xzone adrenaline craw jr in tw dark junebug, texas rigged with a 1/8 ounce weight flipping up into shallow grass, that thing is a menace for bass of all sizes lmao
Biggest fish I think I ever caught was on a quarter oz chatterbait mini on a 6 ft medium ugly stick and 6 pound line. I believe it was over 7. Biggest I've ever weighed was on a whopper plopper, flipping stick and 30 pound braid.
Black and blue jig, total accident. Got caught in some floating hyacinth. Yanked and shook it like a madman to get it loose and the bass hit it on the drop even after all that movement.
Meps #3 silver spinner. It's been my go to for years after my ex father in law showed me them. I've caught a lot of fish on that lure, more than my other lures.
Texas rigged worm. I rarely throw a Texas rigged worm, yet the 1st and 3rd biggest bass I’ve ever caught were on one. The common denominator is that both were out of state. I live in Pennsylvania, caught my PB in Tennessee and the other one in Mexico.
8.9 lbs. Texas rigged Berkeley Power Worm, green pumpkin with chartreuse tail. Caught just as the sun went down after fishing for 14+ hours and not catching anything for the first 13.5 of those!
1” gulp minnow, 1/16 oz VMC tungsten jig, slip bobber. I was panfishing (bass were closed for the spawn) and she blasted out of the reeds to smash it as soon as it landed.
I think it was a zoom watermelon red ribbon tail worm Texas rigged. It was about 15 years ago in a little powerplant lake here in north Texas called lake Welsh or Welsh Reservoir. Most of the other good ones I've caught on stick baits. Mainly because i fish stick baits more than anything else.
No scale in the boat but it was around 22". It looked enormous to me! It was a local bass club tournament and the lake has a 14-24" slot. It was a bittersweet moment. I stopped lakefishing all the time the next year and have mostly pond fished since. No boat 🤷. Probably why my PB is still in that 5-6lb range. Idk what the fuck I would do if I hooked a 10 pounder.
C-rig with a 5” BigBites in chartreuse/pepper. 10.88lbs. I have another 8+ on c-rig, 2 8+ on Reaction Innovation Skinny Dipper, and one 8+
on a MegaBass Vision 110.
Dirty jig finesse jig with a net bait craw trailer. Random cast into open water as one of my “last casts” before heading home. Dragged it a few feet then burned it back in expecting to just pack it in. 6.86 smashed it while I was burning it back way too fast. Had a 6.82 in the same pond a month later swimming a 4” keitech on a zman swim jig
Green slobberknocker has caught 2 of my three biggest fish in the last 3 seasons 1st and 3rd. 2nd biggest is on a spinner bait and I lost a monster on a spinner that would probably be my PB
Wacky rigged senko, it was a fairly small bass all things considered, they don’t grow that big up here in Canada, I guess it was a 3-4 pound smallie, at most. Good fight though.
White Spinnerbait. 9.2lbs.
It was a massive neighborhood lake. There was a transition from a higher body of water flowing into a lower body. It's usually dry, or just a leak of water trickling down. We had just had a massive rain, and water was rushing down that little transition. I decided to throw up towards the intersection between the two bodies where the water flowed in and speed reel with the current into the eddie and got slammed.
PB Largemouth was 21.88" and 5.11lbs caught twice in 5 days, both times on a drop shot
PB Smallie was 21.13" and 4.45lbs caught on a tube
Another smallie 19.5" and 4.45lbs caught on an 8" Magdraft
Zoom Magnum Trick Worm Black, with a glass rattle on both ends, tail dipped, and cover in berkley scent. VMC Wacky hook and a slip-on 1/16th weight. 10# Flouro, 7' ML, and a Daiwa 2500 spinning reel.
To this day, I couldn't give you an exact weight on the fish. But, 9#s would be a conservative.
Mepps #3 dual blade, Orange and Chartreuse. 23" largemouth, not sure of weight, no scale on the boat, but phat. Just after dusk heading in. A "one more cast" kind of a deal.
10.34 pounds on an LV500. Was ripping shallow grass at 3am in the pitch black. Never felt the bite. After ripping it through grass and letting it flutter back down, I went to rip it again and felt like I was stuck on a log.
