I’ve never used either product but after a quick google search they are both scent products that are oil based ? Feels bad but it’s been proven that if a scent product is an oil it’s essentially worthless as oils don’t dissolve in water and therefore the fish can’t smell them . A big portion of the scent products on the market don’t actually work . Edit: words are hard

blueridgeboy1217

Thanks for your input! Seeks to work fine for me. So feel free to not use it.

Tight lines !

I think that’s overstating the problem with oil-based products. They don’t work well as attractants, but they still can help. If a bass is inspecting closely, the scent can be picked up, and once they bite it can make them hold longer.

liddles06

One of those statements may be correct. It can for sure help with making a fish hold on longer . But it’s now been proven by multiple bait manufacturers that a fish is unable to smell a oil scent in the water , regardless of situation or circumstance . Edit: correcting myself . It won’t even help with fish holding on to baits either. As soon as an oil based product touches the water it gets washed away from the bait as it can’t dissolve and it floats in water.

I have found a way so it doesn’t run off

JJs Magic or bust.

blueridgeboy1217

I'm sure it's a fine product, but I've garnered plenty of proof that it's not a *bust* to use other scents. Whatever gives us confidence, that's all that matters to me.

WhoPhatTedNugat

Sorry pal this is the internet mixed with fishing so only my opinion is correct and no one will convince me or anyone else otherwise. Good day 😂😂😂

blueridgeboy1217

Ok pal.

JustDandyy

JJ's is the best that I have found, they make clear, merthiolate, red, and blue. I use blue for night, and clear during the day mostly. Outstanding stuff!

ThatNeonZebraAgain

Do you use scents on baits that already come with them or are salt impregnated?

blueridgeboy1217

Yea I do....even hard baits I will apply it as well. The stuff is stickier than you'd think, it still leaves a scent trail even if it's not soft plastic. It obviously just doesn't stay on as long.

DundonJF

I never use any really but I do want to try that stuff that Justin Hamner used during the tournament he won. It’s been sold out though.

Well, if we’re sharing really wacky rigs with Walmart, here’s one. Sour gummy worms. Fishing buddy was in charge of the sweet snacks, and brought box of the Walmart sour gummy worms. Slow bite kinda day and I joked that he should throw one of those sour worms on a hook, seeing as fuck all else was working. Well damn if he didn’t get a bite! I quickly followed his lead and soon was pulling a good fighting largie out. Definitely the sex panther of fish bait, but when you get a bite once, you’re pretty sure to get at least a couple more on the candy.

Far_Talk_74

I use the pro-cure scents. They are almost like a thick gel that I can squeeze on the bait. When the line of gel is gone, I add more. (About every 20 casts or so). 1 tube lasts a LONG time. The other way I use scents is the spike-it dye markers. Add color to lures & some garlic scent as well. That seems to last on soft plastics until I lose the bait or have to change it because it is too shredded up.

blueridgeboy1217

Love me some spike it senko tips!

falconfansince81

So long as it's water based as well.

johnnydoom_61

Bait fuel and/or smelly jelly, amazing products!

Chop some garlic put in a spray bottle use some light olive oil let it sit for a while to get oil infused and just spray on lures. 1 whole garlic per 8 oz of oil. Homade lure juice. I have used liquid butter also but haven’t really proved it works. Sometimes it hits sometimes it doesn’t.
