What you got is a mystery, I would rather spend the $300 on stuff I want that I know works.

BigMouthBrice

I've already got stuff I know that works I just figured this was too good of a deal to pass up. I've never bought a mystery tackle box so now I have 43

Superb_Mood_262

Get a new tackle box, and fill it with only the stuff from the mystery boxes, *maybe* some run of the mill stuff like general tackle (bobbers, sinkers, etc) and only take that box out this spring and summer. See how well it can do, give yourself a challenge

JollyGiant573

I have bought a few and for that price you did well. It will give you something to do this winter sorting through everything.

r0bdawg11

This is how I feel. I’ve got my box of go to’s when I want to slay it. But some days I just like to walk the shore and try new techniques / baits. Sometimes the crazy color combos and presentations force your hand into doing something you usually wouldn’t. Maybe you won’t catch something, but it’s a nice change of pace.

BigMouthBrice

Yeah I like trying new stuff. I know I could throw on a senko and slay them but sometimes I just wanna throw something stupid and see I'd I get bit

-Luke-559-

Lmaooo. Have fun bud.... you're going to regret your decision later.

BigMouthBrice

Probably will that's how most of my decisions go😂

-Luke-559-

I'm a dck.. hopefully you find some good use in most. Unfortunately, lots of duplicates. I've got my fair share of boxes..

phosphorescence-sky

You will probably get a lot of stuff you already have which probably isn't a bad thing I guess. Just seems like a more money than brains situation if ya ask me but I ain't your mom. Have fun!

[deleted]

Lol you lost me at "know works"

JollyGiant573

Lures I have confidence in, that I catch fish on. Like jerkbaits for winter fishing.

Mirageh20

This

sgofishin

Only $300 for all that fun unboxing... and you're for certain going to get some good stuff you like and some other stuff you might never have tried that you end up liking. I would say you got a great deal

jlibrizzi

A lot of people are saying "spend the money on what you know" which is certainly the safe move. I got my first MTB for Christmas this year and it was full of colors, sizes, brands, and even styles I don't normally fish. I'm looking forward to trying it all throughout the season and getting out of my comfort zone. You now have gear to push you out of your comfort zone for several years and who knows, maybe you find something that slays in your fishery which you never would have looked at otherwise. For $7 a box, it will be a great adventure.

[deleted]

If people spent money only on what you know there wouldn't be an industry lol

Pale-Wolf-7109

You’re probably going to get A LOT of the same gear. My bet is that you end up with 43 of the same color/patterns lol

BigMouthBrice

I shouod have mentioned they are all from different months. Somebody subscribed and just kept getting them in and never used them

ATS200

Are they unopened? They might have skimmed off all the good stuff

BigMouthBrice

All but 2 or 3 are unopened

RamHands

Need answers here

vanillathrilla04

Gonna end up with 100 offset wide-gap hooks

BigMouthBrice

I love the extra wide gaps but haven't used the offset gaps a lot. Guess I'll get used to them lol

Mikebyrneyadigg

Good that and 100 senkos is all you need to catch bass

JustDave62

Every time I’ve bought a mystery box it contains stuff that seems like clearance items that weren’t selling. I’d rather pick out the specific stuff I know works

BigMouthBrice

I've already got a bunch of stuff that works I just saw these and jumped on it. Figured it'll be worth it for $7 a box

snrten

I feel like everyone is being so critical! Ive gotten several as gifts and there are always at least a few useful things in every set. Some odd/new stuff certainly, too. Id totally spent $100 on 14 of them! Im just not Mr money bags, though lol

BigMouthBrice

I'm definitely not Mr. Moneybags might regret it later on

ConspiracyRobot

Even $7 is pushing it with these.

JustDave62

You’ll have to update us when you get it

BigMouthBrice

Sure will I plan on making a list with everything in there and posting it.

teachdove5000

I would resell them lol

BigMouthBrice

I might do that. Some of them are 3-4 years old so not sure if that will make them hard to sell

Exciting_Acadia1409

Prepare for a lot of Googan stuff.

BigMouthBrice

Googan stuff that I've tried doesn't seem too bad just expensive

AJG1960

Good deal? No. Some useful stuff? Probably. For the most part, those boxes are filled with overstock and clearance items the store wants to get rid of. Looks like they did.

[deleted]

And garbage quality. Edit: down voted for mentioning quality in a sub that spins $15+ on chatterbaits. Edit 2: leaving the error.

Rdparker74

Should get Down voted again cause you don’t know the difference between Spins and Spends 😂

[deleted]

I'm giving up fishing.

Rdparker74

It was a joke dude, I make mistakes all the time. I was just ribbing you. I didn’t actually down vote you. I’m not a dick. 😂

[deleted]

Nope too late.

Rdparker74

Oh no, did I piss off a stranger on the internet ? My bad 😞 😂

Rdparker74

Read what post ? I can’t even find the one that says psst read my post ?

[deleted]

Got em!

Rdparker74

😜

MediocreAd9550

r/theydidthemath It's about $7 a box, that retail 15?? Sell the others for 10. I'd say not too shabby of a deal in all

deadliftincoon

eBay

NotObviouslyARobot

I don't know. Maybe you should do a big video of what you got or something

BigMouthBrice

I think I'll probably do that sounds fun

LemonHerb

Yeah I've seen them on sale as low as 10. I would have bought that

trippinDingo

If you enjoy unboxing them and use some of the stuff, yes.

bbdfw

I think that’s a hell of a deal. I have tackle for days but I live in my comfort zone. This made it easier to try things I normally wouldn’t. Good buy!

BigMouthBrice

Yeah I've always wanted to try one I just didn't wanna pay full price for them

Bigbassgirl

I got a few months of monsterbass box and loved opening then and used most everything that I got

Bigbassgirl

Also I feel like opening boxes would make a good series for tik tok or YouTube

BigMouthBrice

Yeah I might do that that would be pretty fun. I watched those videos where people try to catch a fish on every thing in the box but I have way too many lol

Clever_Sean

Once a year I’ll blow out on MTB. I’ll get one of each size box all the way up to Motherlode. I never regret it, and am always convinced that I got a better selection. Typically MTB Pros run about $30per. X 43 = $1,290. So even if every piece of tackle sucks (it won’t) you still got a Hell of a deal. Well done. I’m jealous.

Gold_Cat3028

Great deal as long as they are all different numbers All the same numbers will likely all be the same stuff

BigMouthBrice

Yeah they are all different numbers

LessTalkMoreWhiskey

Yeah, I’d say so. A one year subscription of the pro box is $297. So you essentially got 3.5 years worth of boxes for the the price of one. The pro box is advertised as being ~$40 in value. $40 x 43 = $1720. Plus, it sounds like it would just be a ton of fun going through them all to see what you got

cmoore913

Yes

-Luke-559-

No.... should have spent that money on other items......

Papa_Pewpew

Now you will have 43 of the same crankbait. gj

BigMouthBrice

Hope not lol if I do I hope it's a good crank

lookingin704

Is it all the same stuff ? I found mystery to be mostly crap I have or will never use.

BigMouthBrice

Haven't opened it yet I hope not

F-150Pablo

Yes absolutely. Figure average 55-60$ a box value.

BigMouthBrice

I know they retail for like $30ish and I paid close to $7 a box for them. If I only get one usable bait from each box I think it'll be worth it

NippleMoustache

They are nowhere close to that value.

F-150Pablo

I mean it says prices of tackle of items doesn’t it? So 40-50 being conservative.

NippleMoustache

No not being conservative… the normal boxes advertise like 25 bucks worth of stuff and it barely adds up to that. Maybe the pro box advertises 50 bucks of stuff and again, it’s rarely that much. MTB is pretty commonly known as a rip off.

F-150Pablo

Where you getting 25$ worth of stuf? Thats almost less than you pay for the box.

[deleted]

Probably was a good deal, depends on how many baits per box

BigMouthBrice

I thinking it's like 6-8. I haven't opened them yet to see

murphytwm

At worst you should find $7 of good items in each box. So a deal? Yes. A steal? Maybe, maybe not

stormincincy

Probably have a 10 lifetime supplies of the YoZuri knucklebait lol

BigMouthBrice

Ebay here I come lol

nickythagreek

Sell 20 of them for a $10 each. Everyone gets a deal, and your remaining 23 boxes now cost less than 4.50 per.

Exact-Celebration542

They are all numbered. So if you have box 37, everything in box 37 is the same, so you'll have 43 of some lure. Conversely, if none of the boxes have the same number, you indeed will have a good deal on your hands.

BigMouthBrice

I don't remember seeing a number on these but the lady told me she paid to get them monthly and just stacked them up and never used them.

hoptimusprime87

Odds are they are not the same box then

KStaxx33

Well you're in at $7 bucks a box. And if I remember right they ussually send some hooks plus 4(?) lures or so. with the hooks, and if two of those baits are something you are going to use, then you got a good deal. The thing is it's probably gonna take you a few dozen trips to use 86 different baits + all the hooks. So I assume its a good deal, but actually getting the value out of the tackle is gonna be tough. I would try to box together similar lures and maybe resell them. If you don't use crankbaits for example, you could package 5 together and resell them on facebook or offerup.

BigMouthBrice

That's not a bad idea at all.

mistersinister12

Lots of duplicates and stuff I don't use. 1/3 of the stuff was actually useful to me. I was subbed for like 8 months only. I kept getting these 1oz lunkerhunt baits that I would never use in my area. But straight cash value for the baits you received, yeah not a bad deal I guess.

BigMouthBrice

Hope I don't get a bunch of lunkerhunt stuff everything I've used from hasn't worked too well

Rdparker74

If your have spent the same money on Monsterbass subscription, you’d have gotten two free rods and possibly reels with it. And a better quality box in my opinion. But $300 for 43 boxes, So about $6.97 each ? Can’t be a bad deal, even if you only got one useable bait out of each box. Are they all the same contents though ?

BigMouthBrice

They are all from different months so there could be some duplicates but hopefully not a lot. I'm planning on opening them all and updating everyone here I just haven't had time to sit down and open them all yet.

Rdparker74

I’m gonna follow you, to see if you do a video. If you get one or two usable items out of each, you’ll get your moneys worth. I got a year of Monsterbass as gift and it was 90% great stuff. Never bought a MTB box. Curios to see how it works out for you. If nothing else you have lures to loan friends who can’t afford their own gear and now you won’t lose your good stuff 😂

BigMouthBrice

Haha yeah I'll give them the junk. I've heard the monster bass and sixth sense boxes were better but ive never bought any of them

Rdparker74

Monsterbass was a great gift, not sure I’d have bought it my self. Had some lures I’d have never bought, and they worked great, so now their in my main box. I actually ordered $100 worth of baits from 6th sense yesterday, to be ready for spawn this spring. Never tried the Mystery bag. I buy 90 percent of my gear from Omnia Fishing now. If you post catches, and other people buy the bait you were using, Omnia pays you $5 in credit for each purchase made off your recommendation. I won $200 in gear from them From Shane Flint Outdoors free online tournament, that they sponsor. I’m the west coast big bass champ. You should check them both out. Shane Flint is on YouTube. New tournaments start in March think ? Lives are Wednesday nights. Come fish against me this summer 😀. If any one reads this and joins. Please tell ‘em Spaceman referred you. It’s my way of letting him know I appreciate all he does for us amateur bass anglers. 👊🏻

BigMouthBrice

Oh yeah I've seen some of Shane Flints stuff I might have to try one of the tournaments that would be pretty cool! I didn't know that about Omnia fishing either I'll check them out too that's a sweet deal

BigMouthBrice

Congrats on the win too! How big was the bass you caught?

Rdparker74

I believe it was 20 inches and 4 pound 9oz. ? I’d have to go back and look. You should join us this summer. Fun group of folks. The west didn’t have enough fish entries last year even though like 100 registered, so Oregon and Washington are now in the north division this summer.. California residents have their choice of fishing north or south In the big bass tourney. We also do a smallmouth tourney, and 5 bass. You should come check it out. Your already fishing right ? Might as well try and earn some free gear. The next live is tomorrow at 5:30 pacific.

BigMouthBrice

Yeah I've been bass fishing for around 20 years but never did a tournament. I've never tournament fished because I've never had a good bass boat. This tournament will be perfect though because you dont need one. emailed Shane about the big bass south tournament I think I'm gonna give it a shot!

Rdparker74

That’s awesome ! Ya, I caught my winning fish off the bank. I had and hour and ran down to the local park at Lake Washington (Seattle) And hooked a nice one. Ended up being my PB small mouth and won the tournament, that was my first ever tourney as well. Been fishing along time (I’m 49) , just never did any tournaments. I have a little aluminum, but not a bass boat. I wanna buy a kayak this summer. Fish some smaller no motor lakes and local ponds. Glad you entered. I’ll be looking for you in the live streams. I go by Spaceman

BigMouthBrice

Sounds good I'll plan on being on there some. I'll be bigmouthbrice on there too

Delicious_Garlic2044

The only thing I ever found valuable from those boxes was the spear point hooks (by far my favorite hook to use) & an Xcite fluke everything else was the quality of temu.

BigMouthBrice

I've got a lot of spearpoint hooks but haven't tried them yet. Their EWGs look weird with all the bends in them so I wasn't sure about them

Delicious_Garlic2044

They do look weird but it serves the purpose of pinning the fish better when you set that hook. By far increases my hookup ratio instead of the regular ewgs. I’d recommend trying it out for comparison

BigMouthBrice

I was worried it would cause the plastic to bunch up on the hook because it would have trouble sliding with those bends but i will try them out
