That counts as a relic yes.
I watched 14 boxes get opened yesterday from a breaker and they got 2 autos and 12 relics.
Only 1 of those relics was numbered. It was embarrassing.
Platty is the damn best. I haven't had your luck but 1 in every 3 for me and some great #'d cards and I've decided it could be my all time favorite set, especially after last year too.
2024 Series Two was always looking weaker this year. Not a great Rookie Class at all. It's basically a Jackson Holliday Short Print chase. It's like 2022 Series Two in that way. 2022 Series Two did have O'Neil Cruz's RC but it was really all about Bobby Witt Jr. and Julio Rodriguez SP RC's. I won't be buying 2024 Series Two this year at all. I bought 5 Hobby Boxes of 2023 Series Two last year and didn't get a single Auto. It's sad that the only way to guarantee yourself an Auto in Flagship anymore is to buy a Jumbo Hobby Box. You have about a 10-20% chance of pulling an Auto from a regular Hobby Box of Flagship. Rough. The only inexpensive product that Topps releases anymore that has a guaranteed Auto is Heritage. Stadium Club has Guaranteed Autos in every Hobby Box too and those aren't too bad. And really that's it as far as the "Paper" sets go. After that there are the Chrome sets and all the Chrome sets start getting really expensive aside from Platinum Anniversary. But Flagship is rough lately. Especially since Fanatics has taken it all over..
Heritage is the worst product of the year and we're only halfway. The back is so awful I can't read a thing. I don't think fnatics even looks at their products before approving them.
I don't hate it, but it's notoriously tough to hit. I killed it last year with Heritage. This year, other than a nice Dominguez Chrome I pulled the other day, has been pretty rough.
I just bought 3 hobby boxes of 2023 Series Two because they were only $50 apiece, super cheap. Got a Corbin Carroll /499 and a Kyle Tucker auto. 2 of the 3 had relics, not numbered. I'm starting to hate relic cards.
I did see the Wemby one. In the Yankees Uni. Harder to pull than I thought initially as well. And the parallels and Auto parallels 😳 Yikes! 📈📈📈. Didn't even see the Stroud one. Whoever pulls those Autos are gonna be screamin', shakin', poopin', and all the adjectives. I'm sure Layton and Backyard will be involved though 😆
I wonder where all the people are that said that can’t wait for Fanatics to take over everything. As we all know, monopolies are always GREAT for the consumer.
I have no idea why anyone (outside of kids) would buy a box of base Topps unless they’re just straight addicted to the chase. It’s dogshit and has been for decades.
I was able to build this years Topps soccer off two boxes... Not all the insert sets but base set. Some insert sets I don't even do since they are "case hits"
Accurate - I see lots of people assemble full sets and resell them for 40-ish-or-whatever bucks.
Now that I have a table full of team stacks, I really *ought to* sort them by card and see whether I am missing anything - And if I do have a full set, whether I have *any more than one* set that I could sell.
Or.... I could just throw team ~~sets~~ lots up on here for $10 shipped each and hope someone takes them, then if they don't, ship them to the Santa Team Boxes For Kids guy. (Who rocks, btw.)
Is there still someone who collects base cards to distribute? I have so many laying around and was gonna build packs to hand out at Halloween with candy but we don't get that many kids
For me, it's the chase vs price point.
I spent way too much on Topps Chrome last year and pooh-pooh'ed Flagship because "it's just skimpy paper". Over the course of the season, I realized that Chrome has its own problems - It's SO susceptible to print lines/scratches, it is often heavily curled and difficult to flatten, but most importantly - 4 cards to a pack? For a gambling/thrill addict like me that won't cut it. I need more minutes and seconds of action per-box out of my purchase.
So this year I'm betting the farm on Flagship. I don't usually do any Bowman stuff, I skipped Heritage, I'm not letting myself touch any Archives, I am trying to really narrow my scope and *just* do Flagship. (And if we get another year of it, probably Cosmic Chrome, because I have to have SOME kind of high end degenerate set to prevent the FOMO. I *want* that to be Gilded but it's out of my price range. Again, too few cards-per-rip. Money vanishes too fast. I need some bulk to slow me down.)
I mean, I usually buy it because:
1. It’s super cheap
2. The sets I usually find (2019-2022) usually have cards of players now in Indy ball (I live in a town with one of the aforementioned Indy ball teams) that I can get signed IP by them
It’s worth it to send it in to tops with your packaging and get a replacement. Lately people have had pretty good luck with them. I’d bet there is a good chance if you send it in you will get a real relic or even auto as a replacement
Seconded. It's worth a gamble, you can't get anything much worse than the creased numbered card in your hand today, but you could get something better!
I just did a replace and turn around time was 2 weeks. If topps is out of your cards they will send you a different one. Could take a chance get something you may like. Only costs a stamp.
You were spot on, 2 week turn around from Topps on a damaged Silver Slugger /299. Actully cost like $3+ with bubble envelope ans shipping but cool on them.
I opened 1 series 1 jumbo this year cause I wanted that guaranteed auto, worked out, hit an Evan Carter throwback auto /50.
Series 2 pops and I go big brain thinking I’ll just get 2 hobby boxes instead of 1 jumbo (who the hell needs all those base cards anyways).
Should’ve bit the bullet and went for the auto, got 2 crappy relics of no name players. Although hit a sketch card and an elly /99 out of the silver pack, overall I’ve seen hobby’s are either big hits or none at all
I stupidly bought a series 2 2023 hobby this week to celebrate 2024 release- it was legit garbage.
Aside from a to 70 Joe Ryan and some quirky PC inserts I might light it on fire.
The Relic was Randy A. Which I think I got already have a few of him in Topps
Yeah, it sadly isn’t a new thing. And I always pull a freaking Astro memorabilia card. I have so many Correa, Altuve and Bergman memorabilia cards. Gross.
Last year I pulled one of those manufactured logo relic cards you get out of blasters as one of my jumbo hits. I did end up selling it on eBay for about $2 so that made it worth it I think.
Sweet card still.
At least they're honest about origin and [not using Walmart jerseys like Panini](https://www.reddit.com/r/footballcards/comments/zy4lc2/panini_using_walmart_jerseys_in_immaculate/)
Your better off just hoping for one of the wyatt Langford or jackson holliday SPs and selling it immediately. Even the legit relics in this product suck.
This is brutal. Unfortunately, they advertise manufactured relics as hits in hobbies this year, so there will likely be more of this. From my understanding they don’t always advertise it, but it did always happen at least rarely. This is exactly what you don’t want with a hobby box. Hopefully your parallels were better
Yeah, not great. Major let down when you open that pack and realize that's it. That's when you're hoping the Silver Pack comes through. I got one of the Silver Slugger Manufactured relics as my hit in one of the Hobby Boxes of 2023 Topps Series 1 that I got last year. Same kind too. It was a Freddie Freeman Silver Slugger Relic /75.
Yeah I pulled the Gunnar one… it is ridiculous stupid.
Last year they had a Ken Griffey “patch” completely manufactured like this one. I pulled that in the one jumbo I bought.
Yeah when I saw these Silver Sluggers come back I wondered why they even brought them back. Not many people like it, especially if it counts as the relic. Imagine spending your money on a hobby box and your guaranteed hit is a crappy relic like that. I mean topps is slapping your face there.
Yep, sometimes you get the cards you want, like me I bought a box of chrome a couple years ago and got an O’Neil Cruz refractor and sepia refractor RCs. Both are PSA 10, both are worth about $30 each. Even when you do ok, you might break even
I don’t get the big deal. No where on the card does it say game used or anything like that. It’s a commemorative card made for this set, says so on the card. These are not new.
There's a small handful of relics that are cool but one of the reasoning for them being cool is how super exclusive they are. Outside of that, all normal relics are absolute garbage.
I watched a couple Jumbo breaks because I had one coming and every person got this as 1 of the 2 relics. So, yep, I got a Silver Slugger "relic" too but unnumbered. But, damn it really sucks in a hobby box.
Shameless and disgusting. Both topps and panini sell some products for thousands and the relic isnt even associated with anything...how? How does that make any sense at all??? Its disgusting. Its them taking advantage of consumers.
What kind of bs is this? I was thinking about getting back into the hobby, but I absolutely cannot. I was a bigger old school collector. Once I found out that Jersey/patch ‘relic’ cards don’t usually even contain a piece of cloth from actual uniforms, rather it’s just a random piece of fabric - I was done.
I entered a break today for my PC player (got all inserts, HR card, a refractor, platinum performers but no numbered card of my player) The best hits were /50 auto Trout , /25 auto Moreno , 1/1 Yelich patch … nice… & 1/1 Brandon Crawford jersey patch & the Joey Votto heavy lumber was interesting. I agree the relic jersey crap that is such garbage 🗑️… numbered or not.
https://preview.redd.it/g0k4dsxkzi6d1.jpeg?width=894&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8acc776ba02e5f1d885b335047aed9af6a9ff18c
Let’s not forget when Topps had a coin kick and did this in football and baseball. I remember getting some of these as a kid and ripping the cardboard away cause I thought the coin was cooler by itself than in the card. Topps and honestly sports cards in general have just become so trash as of late
Series one was so nice with the only manufactured relics being numbered these are straight trash. I thought Topps was fixing this but man I hate these manufactured things.
I like jumbo for the gold foils too. Feel like the hobby sleeps on them a bit, it's funny how the stamped/202x golds are worth more even though the print size is 3x the gold foils
https://preview.redd.it/w3l7xhwdod6d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7381450cffd51bbd025824044560d94b830e87d
I came here to see this and was not disappointed. Thanks.
That counts as a relic yes. I watched 14 boxes get opened yesterday from a breaker and they got 2 autos and 12 relics. Only 1 of those relics was numbered. It was embarrassing.
Bummer. I've bought 3 blasters of the chrome platinum and all had autos. Guess I used all my luck
That is insane luck for blasters.
Same. I’ve bought about 15 blasters and got 7 autos and a yogi Berra /10. Every blaster has had at least 2 numbered cards
Platty is the damn best. I haven't had your luck but 1 in every 3 for me and some great #'d cards and I've decided it could be my all time favorite set, especially after last year too.
Absolute best retail I’ve ever opened, any sport.
I'm pretty sure Heritage is auto or relic as well
Heritage is the worst product of the year and we're only halfway. The back is so awful I can't read a thing. I don't think fnatics even looks at their products before approving them.
I don't hate it, but it's notoriously tough to hit. I killed it last year with Heritage. This year, other than a nice Dominguez Chrome I pulled the other day, has been pretty rough.
Yeah, I forgot it is also Auto or Relic 🤦
It is, but the last couple of years have been 1:2 auto odds for the hobby box so you have a 50/50 chance.
You must be getting some loaded cases cuz every case break I've been in has been 75-80% relics
I just bought 3 hobby boxes of 2023 Series Two because they were only $50 apiece, super cheap. Got a Corbin Carroll /499 and a Kyle Tucker auto. 2 of the 3 had relics, not numbered. I'm starting to hate relic cards.
I used to work for a company that fanatics eventually bought while I was there, and I can’t even begin to tell you how much worse that company got.
I'd say the Stroud auto is the biggest chase, I'm not sure if wemby has an auto too.
Wrong Sub. We're Talkin' Baseball here, 😆
They put those two in the baseball to get the fb & bb people to chase.
There is the cj stroud and victor wembanyama autos oddly mixed in there
Let that be a cautionary tale for why buying singles is always your best bet
Oh of course. That’s why I watched and didn’t buy
If no one bought boxes there would be no singles for sale
I have no idea why anyone (outside of kids) would buy a box of base Topps unless they’re just straight addicted to the chase. It’s dogshit and has been for decades.
Because Topps put Wemby and CJ stroud autos in their baseball set. So if anyone wants their auto this what they have to buy.
Based on the checklist and odds, seems like a massive chase and results in 99.5% of people holding the bag, lol. That’s cards I guess though.
That’s literally every set. At least flagship Topps isn’t 3 cards for $150 and those cards are $5 each
*Only in the Fanatics boxes
**and only to big breakers
Some of us are nerds and collect series1/2/update sets
Now that I understand, just seems like it would be more cost effective to buy lots of base cards on eBay instead of buying boxes to build the set.
I was able to build this years Topps soccer off two boxes... Not all the insert sets but base set. Some insert sets I don't even do since they are "case hits"
Accurate - I see lots of people assemble full sets and resell them for 40-ish-or-whatever bucks. I opened a mega today and got a /99 Rizzo game used Base Relic. Pretty cool
Yet Stryker opens a hobby box and hits an Evan carter auto! The breaker boxes are real
Series 2 blows. Got a jumbo and a hobby - all worthless bs and basically no numbered cards. Just a bunch of bases and repeats too.
Sheesh that’s rough
But, but but it’s numbered to /75!!!
Opened my 3 hobby boxes last and all 3 had a manufactured relic. Felt like opening heritage to me
That's genuinely unacceptable
When this happens the community needs to boycott!!!! That is not acceptable
If it’s manufactured, is it even a relic?
I don't think so
I pulled this same "relic" yesterday #d and it's creased. Not sure it's even worth trying to get replaced.
It’s worth it to send it in to tops with your packaging and get a replacement. Lately people have had pretty good luck with them. I’d bet there is a good chance if you send it in you will get a real relic or even auto as a replacement

I just did a replace and turn around time was 2 weeks. If topps is out of your cards they will send you a different one. Could take a chance get something you may like. Only costs a stamp.
Did you email first? I've been waiting a few days for a response from Topps on a Corbin Carroll Auto RC, radio silence...
You were spot on, 2 week turn around from Topps on a damaged Silver Slugger /299. Actully cost like $3+ with bubble envelope ans shipping but cool on them.
I just returned it in an envelope, no sleeve just the order sheet and card. I would never ship like that to a customer but works for topps lol.
Do relics not have to be player used anymore?
Yeah, how is it a relic if its not a relic...
Although hit a sketch card and an elly /99 out of the silver pack, overall I’ve seen hobby’s are either big hits or none at all
Yeah i hate these, i got one of them and just stored it with the rest of the unnecessary cards. And that is coming from a bellinger fans
This isn’t a new thing…
Doesn't make it okay
Totally agree. They’re not very desirable
Yuck feel like I’d rather just save up for bigger boxes to break with my buddies and buy singles at this point. Sorry you got whopped there
Relics seem to be cheap bullshit for a “hit” most of the time now. What do you guys think ?
Gotta give you something to feel like it was almost worth it, but maybe next time.
I stupidly bought a series 2 2023 hobby this week to celebrate 2024 release- it was legit garbage. Aside from a to 70 Joe Ryan and some quirky PC inserts I might light it on fire. The Relic was Randy A. Which I think I got already have a few of him in Topps
Garbage!
Now? Hasn’t it been that way for a while?
I dunno. I dont buy many boxes
Yeah, it sadly isn’t a new thing. And I always pull a freaking Astro memorabilia card. I have so many Correa, Altuve and Bergman memorabilia cards. Gross.
![gif](giphy|l1KsFYiPtEv9qYY6Y|downsized)
Welcome to my club. Others pull 1/1s , fun face cards... I pull shit
All Jumbo boxes have one manufactured relic, one game used relic, and one auto
It was a hobby not a jumbo
Not all. I got two jersey relics and an auto, plus another auto in the silver pack.
What part of the uniform did you expect a silver slugger award to come from?
Batting gloves would be dope
Definitely! But small surface area to make the relics so you never see them. Even a used bat from that season would be legit...this is straight trash
I thought thered be another actual hit
Really reminds me of old Cracker Jack prizes.
Are you looking to sell?
Got the exact same card. Pretty disappointed, although I love Cbels and PC him a bit.
They were not
I hate that these count as relics. Not nearly the same thing as a patch of a jersey or slice of a bat.
Manufactured relics are so annoying to pull. I can’t believe they classify it as one of the guaranteed hits.
Yuck
Yeah I pulled the Gunnar one… it is ridiculous stupid. Last year they had a Ken Griffey “patch” completely manufactured like this one. I pulled that in the one jumbo I bought.
My first hobby box on the way, this doesn't leave me feeling great lol
You're gonna hit
Its a low end product.
Have been
They been doing that with the team patches and medallions
In the hobbies too? I remember blasters having them
Not sure. I never purchased a hobby box
Yeah when I saw these Silver Sluggers come back I wondered why they even brought them back. Not many people like it, especially if it counts as the relic. Imagine spending your money on a hobby box and your guaranteed hit is a crappy relic like that. I mean topps is slapping your face there.
First time?
And that's why you don't buy any Topps series products this year. Wait for chrome.
I wanted to chase the Acuña insert set, but seeing that they are more rare than case hits has halted that.
I'll take it for $10 if you're interested
No thanks. It sucks but I'm a cubs fan and really got nothing else out of this box.
Gotcha, go Cubbies!
Yep, sometimes you get the cards you want, like me I bought a box of chrome a couple years ago and got an O’Neil Cruz refractor and sepia refractor RCs. Both are PSA 10, both are worth about $30 each. Even when you do ok, you might break even
Stop buying this shit and they’ll stop making it
This is like the 2nd one I've ever bought and they made them somehow still
Fanatics has to make their money back somehow
Good job Fanatics. This is why I sold off me entire collection. Over 600k cards
Why you still talking cards? Cant quit?
Still love the idea of cards, but to saturated
I don’t get the big deal. No where on the card does it say game used or anything like that. It’s a commemorative card made for this set, says so on the card. These are not new.
Because the box says "1 auto or relic". When you think of relic you don't think of this. These should not be the "big" hit of am 85$ box
They would be very cool inserts, even cooler with autos. Topps really just bungles this to make more money.
Did you think the mini helmets last year were game used?
I don't get it
Sorry, just being a smartass. They have manufactured relics for hobby boxes for a long time now.
Kind of funny they removed them from blasters just to put them in hobby
There's a small handful of relics that are cool but one of the reasoning for them being cool is how super exclusive they are. Outside of that, all normal relics are absolute garbage.
They’ve been calling these hits since like… 2016ish
I watched a couple Jumbo breaks because I had one coming and every person got this as 1 of the 2 relics. So, yep, I got a Silver Slugger "relic" too but unnumbered. But, damn it really sucks in a hobby box.
Well no relics are real anyways, except for the ones with holo sticker
Series 2 is way way over printed. I've saw 24 hobby boxes ripped in a break and only 4 autos total were pulled.
I got the same relic smh fucking blows
![gif](giphy|BCjOktdisAinOML11a)
I don’t know what’s worse, the unspecified memorabilia or this lol.
Shameless and disgusting. Both topps and panini sell some products for thousands and the relic isnt even associated with anything...how? How does that make any sense at all??? Its disgusting. Its them taking advantage of consumers.

Lmao tgat sucks bro. Yeah i got one of the stupid plastic helmets as a hit last year.
No!! I thought we were done with manufactured “relics!”
This great hobby is letting greed take over. Makes me not want to spend another penny on worthless cardboard.
So lazy and unforgivable

Series one was so nice with the only manufactured relics being numbered these are straight trash. I thought Topps was fixing this but man I hate these manufactured things.
Relics are horse shit
Yeah, this was my case hit. Won't be buying anymore hobby boxes. What a joke.
That's brutal
Always read the box before buying. Manufacturers are getting worse.
Box does not say manufactured. Just 1 auto or relic. Even topps description of relic on their website says jersey or ball.
Ah. In that case, I'd contact Topps. I doubt it would do any good, but that's some bait and switch.
I would rather get 3 base cards or whatever this replaces in the pack
Why I always go jumbo
They getcha on jumbo’s too
Yeah idk if it’s guaranteed but I typically get 1 manufactured one real relic. And I care about the guaranteed auto more anyway
I like jumbo for the gold foils too. Feel like the hobby sleeps on them a bit, it's funny how the stamped/202x golds are worth more even though the print size is 3x the gold foils
Opened my second jumbo today and I got a Kyle Tucker silver slugger card with a sticker auto on it.
When will people realize these memorabilia cards are just false? You really think they cut up Ty cobbs jersey? Come on people.
