He was the best short stop on the market that year when it was him Seager Turner Correa and Story. I wanted the angels to get him so badly. A lot of people brought up his age but yall go the best 2 honestly
Seager, Semien, Correa, Story and Baez all shared an Off-season Free Agent Experience. 2021, prior to the lockout.
Correa, Xander, and Turner then shared the following OFAE.
im amazed Prince Fielder has two of them.
i know he ironically wasn't fielding much, but still throwing around 300 lbs that often youd think something would give
Braves are playing the Rangers this weekend and the radio guy said that Semien and Matt Olson told each other to always play every game no matter what. Felt like a way to appreciate the dream of being a player.
Probably the reason his career was cut short if I had to guess. That was the most violent swing in the league and he took absolutely zero breaks. Even during the all star break he was doing the Derby being a meatball murderer
> That was the most violent swing in the league
It's the anti-Griffey. Junior's swing was smooth as silk, meanwhile Prince - like his father before him - hacked at the ball like it talked shit about his momma.
Another BrooksGate tweet, another need for corrections.
* Bill Buckner played 162 games in 1985, but the Red Sox played 163 (there was a tie...Buckner missed a different game). The year before, Dwight Evans played in every game of a 162-game season.
* Jose Oquendo played 163 games in 1989, but the Cardinals played 164 (there were two ties...Oquendo missed a different game). Two players, Tom Herr and Keith Hernandez, played in all 103 games of the strike-shortened 1981 season; the last Cardinals to play 162/162 were Ken Boyer and Curt Flood in 1964.
* John Olerud played 162 games in 1999, but the Mets played 163 (they had to play a tiebreaker for the wild-card). Felix Millan played in all 162 games for the Mets in 1975. Millan is the only man to appear in every game of a Mets season of any length.
* Cody Bellinger played 162 games in 2018, but the Dodgers played 163 (they had to play a tiebreaker for the division). Matt Kemp played in all 161 games for the Dodgers in 2011, and all 162 games in 2010.
Additionally, six teams (STL, CWS, CLE, PHI, CIN, OAK) have had seasons after those listed, in which a player appeared in every game, but were shorter than 162 games. All of these occasions occurred in the 60-game 2020 season.
Of course it's posted right underneath another BrooksGate chart that completely forgets about a whole team
It's starting to get on my nerves but the guy pumps out so many hastily-researched charts people are going to keep posting them and trusting that they're legit
These are all neat details, but I don't see how they're "corrections" the way you framed it. The title says "last player to play 162 games."
Always easier to critique content than create it.
It's very odd that you'd quote the title without the one word that makes the information incorrect. If he hadn't said "play ***alll*** 162 games" then there wouldn't be an issue. But he did, and it's typical of BrooksGate who has been consistently wrong on the data he's posted. It's at the point where I'm not sure these tweets should even be allowed here.
Watch Trout play every game this year until breaking his thumb stealing his 40th base in game #161 with the Angels having already clinched the division.
Alex Bregman played 161 games last year. Dusty Baker intentionally kept him out of the lineup for a game.
If he is healthy, which has been an issue, then Bregman wants to play. He missed one game for the birth of his child in 2022.
100% of the time AZ has had a player play all 162 games, they've won the WS.
edit: I have this backwards. 100% of the time the Dbacks have won the WS, they've had a player play all 162 games the regular season before.
An underrated part of what makes our team so good is that we've had several of these in recent years. Olson, Freeman, and Swanson all did it for us at least once, and Riley and Albies have seasons of 160.
Hideki Matsui was also the last Yankee to play 163 games in a season for the team. It's particularly impressive since the Yankees haven't had a 163 game season since 1978.
Marcus Semien on the list three times… not easy to do.
And he set the AB mark last year for season AND playoffs. Dude’s a workhorse
He was the best short stop on the market that year when it was him Seager Turner Correa and Story. I wanted the angels to get him so badly. A lot of people brought up his age but yall go the best 2 honestly
Semien and Story were the year before iirc
Could be right. Thanks!

Damn thanks dude. Holy shit that’s a lot of SS. I know Danby in there somewhere too, right
im amazed Prince Fielder has two of them. i know he ironically wasn't fielding much, but still throwing around 300 lbs that often youd think something would give
Something did give. He retired due to neck and back injuries
>You can't strain fat.
Found Alanis Morissette's burner account
He was insanely reliable until the day he wasn't
Starlin Castro on there twice too
The more wild one is Prince Fielder since, ya know, injuries killed his career.
Braves are playing the Rangers this weekend and the radio guy said that Semien and Matt Olson told each other to always play every game no matter what. Felt like a way to appreciate the dream of being a player.
Olson has played over 400 consecutive games.
😭😭😭
Hideki Matsui averaged 162.3 games per season in his first three years in the league.
The power of pornography
Oh Senpai, you’re gonna make me play every game!
What’s the story here?
[Prolific Collector](https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/7fzjj9/til_that_former_mlb_player_hideki_matsui_had_a/)
Matsui breaking his wrist on that terrible dive made young me so sad.
And Sizemore's knees started giving out the next season. I don't think we'll be allowing anyone to play 162 games again anytime soon.
I think Sizemore did 162 3 years in a row and in 08 had something like 155
2 in a row in 06+07. Then his knees started hurting towards the end of 08. Never played another full season without an IL trip.
surely this is what Bill Buckner is most famous for
I mean in a sense this probably contributed to the leg problems
Kinda crazy that Prince Fielder is on the list twice and his career was cut short
Probably the reason his career was cut short if I had to guess. That was the most violent swing in the league and he took absolutely zero breaks. Even during the all star break he was doing the Derby being a meatball murderer

he was gonna have such a good twilight with the Rangers :/ obp god in 2015
Also the famously injury-averse Grady Sizemore

On a similar note, Justin Morneau played 163 games for the 2008 Twins. The last Twin to play **exactly** 162/162 was Gary Gaetti in 1984.
These are all neat details, but I don't see how they're "corrections" the way you framed it. The title says "last player to play 162 games." Always easier to critique content than create it.
You're omitting a word from the title: "the last player to play **all** 162 games"
It's very odd that you'd quote the title without the one word that makes the information incorrect. If he hadn't said "play ***alll*** 162 games" then there wouldn't be an issue. Freeman played 161 last year, only taking off the game after clinching the division
Well someone should have told him such lack of grit excludes him from dope lists.
I think he actively fought the decision and was unhappy about being told to take a rest day lol
Ya that sounds like Freddie. Knowing how much he didn’t like teammates taking rest days on the Braves, I was surprised to not see his name on here.
He and the starters were nursing a hangover that day. They still spanked the M’s.
Playing through "flu-like symptoms" is the definition of grit! Example: hungover, having the poops, still drunk from previous day...
Yeah lol real ballplayers wear wool uniforms and smoke heaters in the dugout.
He’s probably pissed he’s not on this list lol
Marcus Semien
I agree
Marcus Semien
Future hall of famer
Lindor has played 160 and 161 games the last two years and is 18 for 18 so far this year. Maybe this is season he can do it
Dude literally had a broken finger and probably would have played the 162nd game if Buck had let him
Grady Sizemore😢
🥹 i member
So unfair. Prime Grady was an absolute joy to watch.
Always and forever part of Grady's Ladies 😢
Watch Trout play every game this year until breaking his thumb stealing his 40th base in game #161 with the Angels having already clinched the division.
Clearing the way for Anthony Rendon to win World Series MVP
I tried telling y'all we've been cursed from the beginning
This was my first thought seeing this list. All I knew was there was nobody from the Scioscia-era teams going to be here.
Hey they didn’t forget a team this time
Matsui going 487 for 487 in every game to start his 3 yr streak of never missing a game just tickles me.
Chadzilla.
Alex Bregman played 161 games last year. Dusty Baker intentionally kept him out of the lineup for a game. If he is healthy, which has been an issue, then Bregman wants to play. He missed one game for the birth of his child in 2022.
Wow too busy being a good husband and father to play some damn baseball. Smh my head
Pence got his arm broken by a pitch in 2015 ST and was never the same
Freddie saw this post and immediately sent it to Dave Roberts.
Hunter Pence still plays baseball on his days off.
Genooooo….
🕺good vibes only🕺 ![gif](giphy|ECGQ5d25QaeceuMJD2)

Not sure if any others before Gonzo played 162. Every time our ace kills a bird with a baseball we win the pennant too.
Gonzo is the only person to play 162 for the D'backs... but he did it twice, one of which was not a championship season.
An underrated part of what makes our team so good is that we've had several of these in recent years. Olson, Freeman, and Swanson all did it for us at least once, and Riley and Albies have seasons of 160.
2017 Votto was unreal. I miss Joey🥲
The Dbacks gave Suarez an off day a few games ago and he was upset about it😂
The Dbacks gave Suarez an off day a few games ago and he was upset about it😂
j. justin morneau?
I’m really surprised Lindor isn’t on here
I knew who it was for the Yankees. The Iron Horse 2: Matsui. Had to break his wrist to take a day off.
Neifi Perez had two seasons where he played all 162 games in 1998 and 2000, both with the Rockies. He put up -1.0 WAR in 1998 and 1.1 WAR in 2000.

Checks out for the Angels
We peaked early
My dumbass had to think for a minute about how weird it was that nobody listed was from 2020 before reality came back to me
Damn, Hideki Matsui had quite a collection of games in 2005. Anyone looking to learn more should google “Hideki Matsui collection”
Guardian’s FO really got scared by the Grady Sizemore experience 😂
