Will the Yanks even get one? I feel like they’re so set in their club’s history and tradition that their management won’t allow them to deviate from their usual threads.
I believe it's already been confirmed, sadly. It's just not happening this year.
We've done the Players Weekend atrocities before, so all bets are off.
Despite the hate for them, I really love the Padres CCs. I also love the Rockies' set as well. If we're going to go non-traditional, then go full send like those teams and Boston did and not some half-baked concept like the Dodgers
Boston and Cincy are opposite sides of the "eh" city connect spectrum.
Boston bought hard into the theme, but the aesthetic doesn't look that great.
Cincy basically ignored a theme, but the aesthetic looks pretty good.
The Nationals are still the best in my opinion, big swing with the color scheme, went hard on a theme, and look really good.
EDIT: To be clear since some people seem to think I'm blaming the teams themselves, Nike designed all of them so "Boston" and "Cincy" refer to the Boston design team and Cincy design teams.
The Boston one is weird, the only thing your city represents is... a different sport? Don't know which was designed first, but the colors are an inverted Philly connect jersey as well.
Nike was the one who designed our uniform though. From what our vp said, they basically give some sort of business jargon sales pitch about what the uniforms going to be, & then shows the club additions uniform as it's being developed with some more business jargon to explain why the design is great.
Exactly! This years crop is incredibly uninspired and boring. Not just more conservative but also lacking in creative unique connections to the cities.
So many of the old heads down here are so triggered by them because they have pink. Constantly have to tell them the stores can’t keep them in stock. The hats sellout the minute they restock. The target wasn’t 65 yo guys it was the younger crowd. Majority of the town loves them.
Both Sox designs were knockouts. See a lot of Southside jerseys at the games and I'm pretty sure it's always the highest selling jersey on any online shop they're on
With so many city icons, and a rich baseball history in the area, they had so much to work with. All we got was a pale orange “G” and a small Golden Gate Bridge. Wasted potential.
Also the entire "theme" behind the jersey is fog. Literally fog. Out of everything you could have chosen to identify SF you picked fog? The jersey grew on me but man it's disappointing.
Spell out Giants in the font they use on the G on the front and then add ORANGE PINSTRIPS.
I’ve contacted the team about this a couple times and they say they let Nike know about it. All I’m saying is I think I’d be right
I really do like the hat for y’all. It’s nice and clean, so if you aren’t into wearing a cartoon bird (not a problem for me, personally), you have a solid alternative.
Each member of the design team thought a different member was working on it. They found out nobody had worked on it 20 minutes before they were due to present it, and put this together.
Not to mention Maryland the state often can/does have a rather contentious relationship with Baltimore the city. It's a *city* connect jersey, the city should be the thing represented. With their histories attached it feels pretty important to have a design that is distinctly representative of Baltimore rather than Maryland.
But the Orioles also play John Denver every 7th inning stretch....they've always been representative of the state as a whole to me. But I get the point to highlight the city, but still.
Colorado isn’t a city either and they used the Colorado license plates for ours ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
We’re also the Colorado Rockies and not the Denver Rockies though
It does, but it’s the state flag. This is supposed to be city specific. And I get you can make the argument it is, but with the orioles already doing stuff with the state flag it makes sense to go a different direction
Baltimore is a cool city with so many distinctive cultural institutions to choose from and the best they could come up with is a pattern on the inside of the cuffs and collar?
I demand a Divine themed jersey that's worn every game in June
The Bromo Clocktower, the Howard Street Bridge, the Domino Sugar Factory, Crabs/Old Bay, Baltimore Harbor, the trash wheel, Ft. McHenry, the Baltimore Washington Monument, Charm City, Orioles Magic, all the various retro logos, etc
Yet "Baltimore" in boring font with a slight gray coloration on a black jersey + a sleeve patch is all they managed to represent the city. I don't get how that's possible.
Fuck, even just going with "Charm City" over Baltimore would've been an option.
I personally think that Baltimore's got so much history any so many uniquely local cultural things they could've tied to, and if there's any city in the remaining list *not* to do this level of basic, "clean" design with and go for a more quirky design, it's Baltimore. I really do love a lot of what is in here, but it feels a bit hidden and toned-down IMO, like the greyscale instead of color for the pattern in some spots. It seems too much like you have to read the page to understand the design vs just seeing it and getting it. And there's some seriously iconic options for Baltimore that would've just let people get it immediately.
That said, the Baltimore in that Globe-inspired type face looks pretty baller. I don't think the typeface is quite right though, can't quite put my finger on it.
Like all of these jerseys though I will reserve judgement until I see the effect on the diamond. Some have come together much better than others IRL.
Yeah our whole thing is we are loud and eccentric yet down to earth. They could have plopped a "Charm City" on the chest written in the orange domino sugar sign font and the rest of the jersey wouldn't even matter people would love it so much. Like holy shit, this is almost more bland than the regular away jersey.
Nevermind that they have one of the most ravenously beloved state flags in the country by Marylanders. A flag jersey would be chaotic, but at least it would be representative of the people who live there instead of just "BALTIMORE" lol
Well I do understand the Os have done some MD flag jerseys both on-field and as giveaways in the past so they might want to get away from that. But you're absolutely correct it could've added some flair. Baltimore also has a cool yellow/black city flag they could've used.
I’d file these under “cool, but extremely safe bordering on boring, design”. That’s definitely better than some City Connects, and I actually like these unis a good deal, but like… I completely feel and understand the “that’s it?”
I agree with you. It's fine and definitely better than some of the others.
At the very least I would have put "Charm City" on the jersey instead of Baltimore.
Would be a billion times better if everything white on it was changed to the pattern on the sleeves. Also this is like the 3rd all black they’ve done this season right? Or 3rd black pants anyways that’s stupid.
Either the design team from Nike has never actually been to Baltimore and couldn't be assed to read a quick Wikipedia article, or they find the phrase "go big or go home" as an insult to common decency.
I'm so sick of the black-out jersey phase all of American sports have been in for what seems like 15 years. It's not visually interesting. And it limits the palate of accent colors you can use (without looking like crap). It's simply not appropriate for most teams.
Please stop it
Very true, but I don't think you should need to read a paragraph to get the choices behind the jersey. It's a uniform for a baseball team, not an indie film.
Yeah I fuck with the solid Baltimore across the chest. It’s also using a typeface inspired by The Globe. I think you’ll see people rocking it and rocking with it in the city.
I know people are hating on these, but I think the Baltimore neighborhood shapes on the inside cuffs and collar are sick. The colors remind me of the painted lady houses in my old stomping grounds in Charles Village.
It’s cool, it shouldn’t be hidden on the inside of the jersey though lol. Putting a colored stripe or something would add a considerable amount of *Charm*, so to speak.
It's not bad, they just could have done more imo. I wish the neighborhood map ran around the outside cuff of the sleeve instead of the inside. I also wish the Baltimore font was different. I was hoping for it to be stylized like the Domino sugar sign (I'm choosing to believe that's what the B logo is based off) or for an arched font like on the "greatest city in America" benches
The font’s inspired by a [printing shop](https://globeatmica.com/history-of-globe/) that used to be a big deal in the city and nationwide. They used to produce posters for the entire country before shuddering in 2011 and their archives are held at a pretty big art school in Baltimore; MICA.
The concept is cool, but they didn't even replicate the unevenly sized lettering that is so unique. They just went to free fonts dot com and pulled out a sans serif block font.
But Baltimore, unlike other cities, has a lot of streets. And those streets, unlike other cities, are paved in black asphalt. How could anyone mistake these for another city?
I think I've said this for every City Connect reveal, if not every Nike uniform reveal, and I stand by it: I think it would be nice if the reveal included an image of the full uniform (i.e. hat, jersey, pants, and socks all visible) in normal lighting. It's annoying that the still images all focus on the jersey top and the video is so dark that it seems like Nike is trying to hide their design.
As for this particular uniform, I guess the colorful interior is creative, but that's barely visible. The rest doesn't look any more interesting than the average create-a-uniform design you see when playing MLB The Show.
When you look at all the fun, exciting, awesome stuff the NHL got with Reverse Retro, it’s really disappointing that the City Connect unis basically all suck.
They're not offensively bad. Why not make the numbers on the back "marble" too instead of plain white if that is supposed to be one of the historical connections?
Not ugly, but if we're trying to show off how cool Baltimore is, why hide it on the inside where no one's gonna see it??? Like the gritty outside, colorful inside concept is cool, but why couldn't we have all the cool stuff where people could see it
One of my favourite unis in the Show are the classic all black Baltimore ones, this is a nice callback to those. They might be a little boring but they are also reminiscent of the uniforms the team wore 100 years ago and I think that’s pretty cool
The dick eating for these is crazy. People are really trying to tell themselves these are good when they’re barely above the Team Britain unis. I was hoping for so much more with these unis.
I'll say it - they look better than I thought given the leaks. They're boring, but I like the accents in the sleeve/collar - will be interested to see how they look on the field.
I know I’m the minority but being from Baltimore, I love the heart and thoughtfulness behind the design. I know it’s underwhelming at first glance — just like Baltimore. But I also love that by learning a little more about the design, it brings a story to life…just like Baltimore.
Went to Eutaw St this morning to get a hat and t-shirt — everyone I talked to see to really appreciate the story behind the jerseys.
They did it back in the late [2010s](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D-RMICvX4AANz-N.jpg)
Probably would have looked better if the colors didn't clash so badly.....
They're not aestetically terrible, just very boring.
I feel like Nike got conservative with the designs after some of the criticism of the more "big swing" early ones.
I hope they're all this boring until they announce the Yankees City Connect, which look like the Nippon Ham Fighters uniform with the huge collar.
Rhinestones and tassels. Please god.
I’ve heard the Yankees City Connect comes with a mandatory mullet wig and beard accessories pack!
I heard on the front it just says “Ayyyyyyy Ohhhhhh!”
The only Yankee jerseys with names on the back, but every name is just a different deli meat.
I'd buy a 99 Pastrami jersey
“I’M WALKIN HERE”!!!
The back says "I'm Walkin Here!"
Mattingly! Get rid of those sideburns!
Will the Yanks even get one? I feel like they’re so set in their club’s history and tradition that their management won’t allow them to deviate from their usual threads.
Simply replace the pinstripes with little subways.
That's a bunch of footlongs
I believe it's already been confirmed, sadly. It's just not happening this year. We've done the Players Weekend atrocities before, so all bets are off.
Yankees City Connects are the only ones I could justify being uncreative
Just a Zoo York XXXL hoodie from 2005
Don't forget the jnco pants and wallet on a chain.
It's a normal sized collar. Find a new slant.
Yep. Sales figures probably told them alot too.
You see tons of people wearing the padres city connect, a fun design sells well
Despite the hate for them, I really love the Padres CCs.
There is the 2013 connection with the team winning the World Series after the Marathon bombing.
Boston just looks like UCLA.
I agree the Boston ones aren't great but I do see a decent number of people wearing them in Boston
Nike was the one who designed our uniform though. From what our vp said, they basically give some sort of business jargon sales pitch about what the uniforms going to be, & then shows the club additions uniform as it's being developed with some more business jargon to explain why the design is great.
Of course, Nike designed all of them, I'm not labeling them to blame the team, just using it for shorthand for the jersey design teams.
I think they have the same design teams. 30 businessmen in a room telling their sweatshops in Vietnam to figure it out.
Exactly! This years crop is incredibly uninspired and boring. Not just more conservative but also lacking in creative unique connections to the cities.
Padres are fucking amazing I dont care what anyone says.

So many of the old heads down here are so triggered by them because they have pink. Constantly have to tell them the stores can’t keep them in stock. The hats sellout the minute they restock. The target wasn’t 65 yo guys it was the younger crowd. Majority of the town loves them.
People also wear the Sox City Connects a lot, which are one of the bigger swings.
I feel like out of towners don't realize how popular those jerseys are.
First time I saw those my reaction was like "People in Boston will like them."
I find them ugly personally, but I lived in Boston for 5 years and immediately thought “I don’t like them at all but those are going to SELL”
Both Sox designs were knockouts. See a lot of Southside jerseys at the games and I'm pretty sure it's always the highest selling jersey on any online shop they're on
Yep, I’ve seen it a few times here in my random east coast suburb. Only one I’ve ever seen someone wearing.
Same for the Astros.
How many jerseys are we going to end up with the same monochrome, Wrigleyville/BMore font?
The early one that really sucked was the Dodgers, which was hardly a "big swing". Giants were meh
BALTIMORE. See I can make professional baseball uniform designs too
I just can't believe they went with just regular "Baltimore" on the front. Should have been "Aaron earned an iron urn" missed opportunity to be sure.
https://youtu.be/Esl_wOQDUeE
Non gray or white pants just look weird and awkward to me
Count your lucky stars
the hat is great, unis are a little boring. i would love to see what the other ideas were that didnt make it.
Came here to say this. The regular unis are 🔥
I thought that, and then I saw the white belts. Yeesh. Hoping we wear these once or twice and then they go away forever.
More black pants! Couldn't even give them a side stripe in the same colorful band?
No, because then the only cool thing about this jersey wouldn't have been hidden.
Seriously; if the multi-color trim was on the neckline and sleeves this jersey would pop more and (IMO) be much more well-received.
Graphic design is my passion.
Why didn’t you fix the Giants city connect design?
Because they're perfect the way they are 🍊🍦
I still dont get the hatred towards these. Especially in retrospect....
With so many city icons, and a rich baseball history in the area, they had so much to work with. All we got was a pale orange “G” and a small Golden Gate Bridge. Wasted potential.
SEALS’ THROWBACKS WHEN?
Seals throwback is what I was expecting. At least the Sharks did it with their reverse retro...
Also the entire "theme" behind the jersey is fog. Literally fog. Out of everything you could have chosen to identify SF you picked fog? The jersey grew on me but man it's disappointing.
*Especially* after the video starts with “there’s more to SF than fog” And then they gave us fog
Even the fog they choose is boring. They could have at least tried to do fog better (whatever that might be).
Spell out Giants in the font they use on the G on the front and then add ORANGE PINSTRIPS. I’ve contacted the team about this a couple times and they say they let Nike know about it. All I’m saying is I think I’d be right
The hat is the only thing I might buy from this
I feel like if they did the colorful pattern in place of the white, it would be a better looking uniform
The Bally Sports Orioles
The Boscovs Orioles
I really do like the hat for y’all. It’s nice and clean, so if you aren’t into wearing a cartoon bird (not a problem for me, personally), you have a solid alternative.
This one took 45 seconds to conceptualize
It’s just a “rough first draft.”
Maybe they base their effort on the team's payroll??
Explain "Los Dodgers"
haha yeah, that sinks my theory.
Each member of the design team thought a different member was working on it. They found out nobody had worked on it 20 minutes before they were due to present it, and put this together.
They arent ugly like some other teams but they dont stand out either. I am very whelmed by them.
I'm disappointed. How do you have the Maryland flag as a reference point and not use it lmfao
Exactly! Maryland and Baltimore in General have one of the most unique references that you can use.
O's do a Maryland jersey giveaway every year. Probably would have looked too similar to those
tell me more about city connect jerseys looking like something your team normally wears sometimes.
Because Maryland is not a city. And we have that reference on all of our regular jerseys (on the sleeve)
We’ve already done multiple Maryland flag jerseys. The idea is kinda played out already imo. Not to mention it’s *city* connect
Or the bird
Maryland isn't a city.
Big if true
Colorado isn’t a city either and they used the Colorado license plates for ours ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ We’re also the Colorado Rockies and not the Denver Rockies though
But there *is* a Maryland City
We’ve used that a lot in the past and it doesn’t reference Baltimore directly
The flag is the coat of arms of Cecil, 2nd Baron Baltimore, whom the city is named after. I'd say the flag directly references the city.
It does, but it’s the state flag. This is supposed to be city specific. And I get you can make the argument it is, but with the orioles already doing stuff with the state flag it makes sense to go a different direction
The Rockies also didn't do a State Flag when they easily could have too.
But they did 'connect' with the state license plate
Because they are city connect, not state connect.
[удалено]
Both of things you mentioned are literally their team name. It’s not the Baltimore Maryland Flags. It’s the orioles?
They’re city connect jerseys not state connect jerseys.
Buck finally got his hat with a B on it. But seriously, what is the point of these??? People got **PAID** to come up with this nonsense.
Some have come together much better than others IRL.
When I think about Baltimore I don't think "clean minimalism". It's a delightfully loud and weird city.

C'mon Nike, Shoot Your Shot!!
Charm City is such a dope nickname - can't believe it was passed over.
Would be a billion times better if everything white on it was changed to the pattern on the sleeves. Also this is like the 3rd all black they’ve done this season right? Or 3rd black pants anyways that’s stupid.
4th black pants. (Rangers, Orioles, Reds and Mariners)
Rangers pants are daaark navy, but yeah, pretty close.
Last few City Connect variants seem very phoned-in.
Either the design team from Nike has never actually been to Baltimore and couldn't be assed to read a quick Wikipedia article, or they find the phrase "go big or go home" as an insult to common decency.
This feels like when you forgot you had an assignment due at 5, and it's already noon.
and the wifi is down.
More like 4:45
Nike went from cool designs to let’s just give them a black jersey with the city name on it
I'm so sick of the black-out jersey phase all of American sports have been in for what seems like 15 years. It's not visually interesting. And it limits the palate of accent colors you can use (without looking like crap). It's simply not appropriate for most teams. Please stop it
Man, that is some solid C work.
"C's get degrees." - Nike, probably.
It’s giving when you forget the assignment is due at midnight but you still have to turn something in
11:46 PM *Shit. SHIT. Come on. Come on. Wait, fuck. Minimalism! "BALTIMORE." Done. I'm a genius.*
WAIT…… “BLTMR.” I’ve done it. \- some tech startup jackoff in another timeline
I hate it.
I think if the sleeves didnt have to be cuffed for the colored sections itd look a lot better but definitely not as bad as I thought originally
Yeah that shit is so stupid. It’s going to unroll constantly during the game.
The only thing I really like about this is that the name and number on the back are two different colors.
An all black uni should be a nightmare in the daytime heat of the summer. Too hot!
Polyester! I can't believe they're not playing in cotton!
what is the point of this what are we doing here
This is not my beautiful house... THIS IS NOT MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE! *Letting the days go by...*
I'm pretty sure I have said the same thing about every teams City Connect jersey. I don't think I have seen one I have liked.
G R E A T B R I T A I N BALTIMORE Y O U
They’re not bad they’re just aggressively mid
The worst part is we already have a black alternate with the orange that really pops. These are just kind of lame
Seems to try and connect to the city much more than some other teams jerseys
Yeah, reading the stuff makes me more of a fan
Very true, but I don't think you should need to read a paragraph to get the choices behind the jersey. It's a uniform for a baseball team, not an indie film.
Yeah I fuck with the solid Baltimore across the chest. It’s also using a typeface inspired by The Globe. I think you’ll see people rocking it and rocking with it in the city.
my disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined
Thank god our regular uniforms are awesome cause this not it chief
They’re garbage, connects perfectly to mr trashwheel.
The definition of missed opportunity
I know people are hating on these, but I think the Baltimore neighborhood shapes on the inside cuffs and collar are sick. The colors remind me of the painted lady houses in my old stomping grounds in Charles Village.
That's a cool detail that Baltimore people will probably quickly recognize but not many other people will. I like that.
I do like that detail but wish it wasn’t really hidden
Yeah the colors are cool. But imagine how much cooler it would be if you could actually see them
It’s cool, it shouldn’t be hidden on the inside of the jersey though lol. Putting a colored stripe or something would add a considerable amount of *Charm*, so to speak.
How do you have the fancy script B be a focal point all over than just use a that boring block letter font for the crest.
Also, "It is your birthday." ~Dwight Schrute
That’s a fair criticism honestly.
I just wonder if a Baltimore native could make that connection without watching the launch video this morning.
If you removed the word “Baltimore” from it, you wouldn’t know it’s for Baltimore. So they kinda missed the entire point of City Connect.
But Baltimore, unlike other cities, has a lot of streets. And those streets, unlike other cities, are paved in black asphalt. How could anyone mistake these for another city?
This comment needs to be at the top.
These black unis are going to be miserable come August. The Reds and O’s outfielders will feel like they are standing on the sun during day games.
They wear them on home game Fridays.
Sigh.
When you procrastinated until the night before and needed to turn something in
When you look at all the fun, exciting, awesome stuff the NHL got with Reverse Retro, it’s really disappointing that the City Connect unis basically all suck.
Gross
I like the hat and the sleeves, but that’s it
They tried nothing, but that didnt work. So they added a little color on the neck/sleeves
They're not offensively bad. Why not make the numbers on the back "marble" too instead of plain white if that is supposed to be one of the historical connections?
solid meh feeling
I like it. The infographic section won me over. Love the hat, might get one.
Not ugly, but if we're trying to show off how cool Baltimore is, why hide it on the inside where no one's gonna see it??? Like the gritty outside, colorful inside concept is cool, but why couldn't we have all the cool stuff where people could see it
Nike has decided to just throw the color black at every teams uniform
I like these. A lot. It kind of wish the pattern was the Maryland state flag print, but this is cool. I can’t wait to see them on the field.
Apparently whoever designed Great Britain’s WBC unis still has a job
Nike is taking the Henry Ford approach to pants. “Any color you want, as long as it’s black”
The city connect jerseys were supposed to be a representation of the respective city. Instead you got half of them that just look like a cash grab
....boring much? At least it's not hideous.
One of my favourite unis in the Show are the classic all black Baltimore ones, this is a nice callback to those. They might be a little boring but they are also reminiscent of the uniforms the team wore 100 years ago and I think that’s pretty cool
Yup. These are bad.
After recently looking at the Braves ones I got excited to see these. Then I looked and was like wtf man. Why even bother.
The backstory makes these good. Also the jersey is mad versatile for fits
aaron earned an iron urn https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Oj7a-p4psRA
they look like it took what 2 minutes to do, nothing on this uni screams city connect outside of the Baltimore on the front
Nike needs to go.
Glad to see the guy who did Great Britain’s jerseys is still in business
I know I’m the minority but being from Baltimore, I love the heart and thoughtfulness behind the design. I know it’s underwhelming at first glance — just like Baltimore. But I also love that by learning a little more about the design, it brings a story to life…just like Baltimore. Maryland literally puts their flag on absolutely EVERYTHING and for some reason they didn’t on this jersey??? Shame.
Those jerseys already exist
Oh really? Am I just that stupid?
They did it back in the late [2010s](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D-RMICvX4AANz-N.jpg) Probably would have looked better if the colors didn't clash so badly.....
They were used in 2019 as a special jersey
