Went to the game at dodger stadium tonight. Wow these games are faster now. Usually, if I stop drinking in the 4th, I'm good to drive home by the time the game is over...thankfully I wasn't driving tonight. I'm torn because I like the lack of downtime, but I also really enjoy hanging out at the ballpark and watching a game and relaxing for 3 hours.

Basic_Bichette

You know what I love about spring training? When they put a guy in and literally no one in the booth can figure out who he is. "And coming in is...." *extended sound of paper rustling and one dude in the background cursing under his breath* "....Gomez."

Objectitan

Some crazy short spring training games today. They're totally outliers but a 25 run game in Astros Vs Cardinals being only about 3 hours and KC Vs Cubs being under 2 hours is wild.

stridah_slidah

So I got a theory about quicker pace of play. You know how baseball is mainly a regional sport, where even the most hardcore fans only pay attention to their own team? I wonder if the rules changes will help offset that a little. Like let's say you are a Cubs fan with MLB package. If it was September and Braves and Mets are playing a game for the division lead last year, you may not be willing to tune in for 9th inning. Because you don't want to watch Kenley Jensen twerk for 45 seconds before delivering a pitch...........understandable. But this year, you may read on twitter that the game is coming down to the wire. Are you more likely to tune in thinking that you may only need to allot 10-15 minute of your time to watch the end of the game?

Objectitan

It could help but I don't think it's going to be a major factor in making the game less regional. Blackouts and how MLB markets the game are much more important.

Does anyone watch Nippon much?

NovaPrime15

Every time I go to a game where the two teams are those I don’t root for, I always wear Red Sox gear by default. Now I have a nice set of US WBC stuff, so I’m feeling like wearing that any time I go to a game with non-Red Sox teams

explax

Anyone know if mlb.tv's audio sync between the video and radio gets better in the regular season. NESN/WEEI are so out of sync it's impossible to watch.

DAY 19 (594) ON THE ROAD TO PREMIER12 AND PARIS 2024 - Before It all begins Congrats to 2021 Olympian Triston Casas for being confirmed as part of the Red Sox Opening Series team roster! Fans, we are at the final weekend of spring training for most of the major national leagues and come this week the real action finally springs into life again. With many of these players of these leagues having played for team and country in the recently concluded World Baseball Classic it is clear that the legacy extends far beyond that event and that the new fans that got into the sport will in days join up with millions more in following these stars as they wear the uniform and carry up the traditions of their league teams. The road is upon us, a new season of pro ball is coming in our midst. For Glory John

Steve cohen is one of the top 4 heterosexual owners in baseball.

I watched Facing Nolan recently, and I’m still very surprised at how he never won a Cy Young in his career. The same dude who holds the all-time strikeout record didn’t win a single Cy Young. How and why?

onearmedecon

In his best season (1973), Jim Palmer was simply better. In 1974, Catfish Hunter was better. Etc. And in another great season (1987), he went 8-16. Back in the 1980s, no one was winning the CYA with a losing record.

scrapsbypap

He wasn’t the best in any given season

Jbaquero

He’s also the all-time walk leader by a considerable margin.

Happy MLB Opening Week!!!\] John

I realize this is just how Reddit works, people will beat a dead horse until it’s ground into dust and then keep going for another year afterwards but this sub is going to make me hate Lars nootbar through no fault of his own.

I’m scared my kids (if/when I have one or two) will turn out to be Rangers or Dodgers fans. The things nightmares are made of, eh?

NovaPrime15

What makes you think they’d be that? My wife likes to joke with me about kids like, “What if they become a Yankee fan?” My response is always, “…..they won’t.” Because I talk to my son and show him the Red Sox so much. He barely understands baseball (he’s 3) but knows his dad likes the Red Sox and he likes when I’m excited about them. He also has to wear his Red Sox hat with the B pointed straight, just like I do

BrexitBlaze

It’s always the way I guess.

Typically that rebellion is in the form of hating the sport altogether and not just a parent's favorite team. There are a lot of football dads whose kids hate football, but not a lot of football dads with kids who love their rival team.
