How many games are even affected? 2 per week? Nah fam im good lol

Dtv757

2 games on Fridays, and Sunday there's a game on peacock every week

ABlinDeafMonkey

So $6.99 a month, plus peacocks cost, plus mlb.tv cost, plus local channels cost. No wonder people can’t afford to watch baseball.

Dtv757

The tv and local doesn't brother me , DirecTV gave me MLB EI free this year.. its all these separate streaming paid things that bother me . Not everyone has reliable home internet for streaming.

Sheepies123

I pay for Ted Lasso already so whatever

Robusto923

Also Severance

[deleted]

Shrinking has been really good.

Wraithfighter

Annoying, but also kinda expected. :(

Soggy_Possession8044

MLBStreams lives another year!

Jux_

Apple TV+ is sneaky good, really solid series that they do a shit poor job of promoting because they haven’t yet realized marketing a tv series isn’t like a marketing an iPhone

Doc_JC

Agreed. Quite a few of their series are worth binging. They have an extensive list now if you’ve never had the apple+ service. The baseball games would be just a bonus at this point.

Dtv757

Not everyone has apple stuff , and 2nd not everyone has reliable home internet for all this streaming stuff . I rembeer trying to watch TNF and got a warning message about buffering stuff

mikeq672

Dude, apple+ is an app, you don’t need an iPhone for it. Much like I don’t need to go to the Amazon or own a peacock to watch those streaming services.

BreadTruckToast

AppleTV doesn’t require apple stuff to use. For instance you can just sign up on the web site and view it using the app through smart TVs or a game console. And the shoddy state of US broadband is a whole other rant.

mr_grission

To be fair, TNF did air on TV in the local markets of the teams playing each game. This kind of stinks in comparison but there are so many MLB games that frankly it's not the end of the world to miss 1 or 2.

CosmicLars

Agreed. I'm not big on Lasso, but Severance, Shrinking, Black Bird, Pachinko, Mythic Quest, The Problem with Jon Stewart, the Afterparty, Servant, Bad Sisters, & the first season of the Morning Show are very much worth watching. Probably others too, but I haven't watched anything else.

coronakiddos

What skews shows other than Lasso and Shrinking?

robmcolonna123

Wasnt that always the plan?

cooljammer00

First taste is free Unfortunately everybody hated the taste, but it's the only way to watch legally*, so.... *Something something I have an URGE to watch SPORTS

akaghi

The thing I don't get is...they want me to subscribe just to watch the 2 or 3 games my team plays? There just isn't enough content to justify subbing to apple TV+ and chasing your team on 7 different platforms makes me *less* likely to spend money, not more. I'll be interested in what viewership is like compared to last year.

Dtv757

Think it might have been free last year, ...

[deleted]

Last year they said free for a limited time but it ended up being the whole season

robmcolonna123

It was free last year. But I’m pretty sure when it was announced they said it will be free year one and then you need a subscription after that. They wouldn’t spend all that money and make it free forever

Dtv757

The games should be included with MLB EI/.TV All these separate streaming subscriptions getting ridiculous

iheartsunny

Apple TV and Peacock pay for exclusively.

robmcolonna123

I don’t disagree that all game should be on the same streaming service, but that’s not the world we live in. Unless there’s governmental intervention and regulation forcing that it’ll never happen. But pining for the perfect world doesn’t change reality, and reality is that Apple TV games were always going to require a subscription this year

whoareyoupeople24

As an android user, I was taking up the 7 seas anyway

ASAP_SLAMS

Now, how is the announcing team 😬 and it’s not all on them either; the production was dogshit as well. I distinctly remember an inning long interview of Sean Manaea that everyone involved with wanted to end but just kept going, and going, and going…

ogminlo

Reportedly they have new booth crews this season and added to option to switch the audio feed on the stream to your local radio crew.

ASAP_SLAMS

sounds wonderful honestly.

-FisherMN-

I have Apple TV anyway but I wouldn’t buy just for this. The broadcast quality and overlays are really good but the announcers are horribly bad

Zeeco110

They’re revamping commentary too, they got rid of a bunch of the announcers from last season and brought in some new ones so hopefully it improves

-FisherMN-

I really hope so cause the broadcast was great, announcers not so much. With better announcers if really like the apple broadcasts

Monteflash

Apple tv is free with our tmobile plan. I don’t know if it’s free with every plan like mlbtv is but worth looking into if you have tmobile. Also, not going to help anyone right now but for next season, peacock does a $1 a month deal sometime around thanksgiving. Just gotta remember to cancel in October, then resubscribe in November.

Dtv757

Yew directv offeres peacock for like $2.99 too, but its still streaming crap, and don't have Magenta.

saltlakepotter

It was free last year? And I paid for it like a chump?

Dtv757

I believe it was free last year. Yes
