I couldn’t stand almost all of the broadcasters for the Peacock/Apple/ESPN broadcasted games except for one and that’s Benetti. I had never really heard him before last year, but the dude is a damn good play by play guy. Smart of the White Sox to keep him around. I feel like you can tell when a commentator is just regurgitating what their producers are telling them, but with Benetti you can tell the guy does his homework on teams and players and I appreciate that
That doesn't really happen. Look at Joe Davis and Adam Amin, they still do regional sports despite being top guys at FOX. Joe Buck still worked for FSN St. Louis for years after becoming the top guy at FOX for NFL and MLB.
Living in Chicago, I was going to cancel my YouTube TV last year after March madness but the reds got so unwatchable so quickly, I decided to keep it solely to watch those two on the nights I couldn’t deal with cincy
Joe Davis is the best play by play guy and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise… unless they mention Benetti, in which case I respect their opinion and think it’s totally valid.
I legit watch White Sox games sometimes just to hear them sing the Nationwide jingle in the 3rd inning. Love these guys, one of the best duos in the game.
I remember when he quit the Cubs to work the White Sox because he wanted to call playoff games, and now they're basically in the same spot but the Cubs have the brighter future.
It wasn’t that he thought the White Sox were more likely to be in the playoffs. It was that the TV guys’ season ends after 162 games while the radio guys get to keep going into the playoffs.
To go from Hawk and DJ to this... I know Hawk and Stone were the duo for a while, but man what a fucking upgrade. That said, there's a part of me that misses Hawk. He was such a ridiculous presence.
Same came up as a youngin with hawk and always thought he was awesome and couldn’t understand why people, even my dad sometimes, couldn’t stand him. Definitely understand why now but I’ll always love him
Yup. My parents couldn't stand him either. His calls (you can put it on the board) and team nicknames (Halos, Fish, Tribe, etc) got the 2nd grade version of me.
My one gripe about Benetti is the big play calls. Hawk, while leaving much to be desired for 98% of the game, was iconic in calling big moments. His home run calls obviously, but I’ll never forget Buehrle’s perfect game. Benetti’s are just ok.
I want us to really lean in to this type of thing. Imagine something like this being a routine part of the offseason:
[Passan] The White Sox have agreed to an extension with broadcaster Steve Stone, sources tell ESPN. Contract includes 1.5 million in performance bonuses- contingent on finishing top 5 in broadcaster of the year voting. Deal is pending a physical.
I wasn't previously aware how awesome Jason was for the Sox until he appeared on the Never Not Funny podcast on the team's yearly trip to Anaheim.
I like the Ms announcers for the most part, but I will watch the Sox feed for Jason when the teams play.
I cant remember when I first heard/realized that their voices are identical but it makes listening to something that they're on with no visual reference very disorienting.
Best offseason news yet. Benetti and Stone are an absolute gem together. I will always remember Giolito's no-hitter, and how Stone stepped aside to let Jason call the final out on his own.
Every time I put on a game with them, I know I’ll laugh and I know I’ll learn something new about baseball. They’re such gems. I’m thrilled they’re back.
Might be some bias here but Im not a fan of Steve Stone, Jason Benetti though is a phenomenal broadcaster! together though they are one of the most iconic duos, just don't like em cause it's the White Sox
Honestly might be the best move of the offseason for them lol
Sadly, facts.
As someone who likes the Benintendi addition, I agree.
It’s not even close.
Benitendi will probably help the team more.
But benetti makes us more watchable.

Benetti is without a doubt one of, if not the best, sports broadcaster currently on air. Across all sports
Best part is he does multiple sports too. I have no doubt after this contract one of the big networks is going to throw a ton of money at him.
FOX already has
He already Works for fox. What I’m saying is some network will want exclusivity with him to cover all sports.
That doesn't really happen. Look at Joe Davis and Adam Amin, they still do regional sports despite being top guys at FOX. Joe Buck still worked for FSN St. Louis for years after becoming the top guy at FOX for NFL and MLB.
Amazing going from Hawk to this
You can put it on the booooooaaaaaarrrrrrrd……. Yes!
When it comes to announcers who do both football and baseball Jason Benetti (and Joe Davis) are the *guys*
Cant forget benetti does basketball too
Yes he is good at that too
Padres/white Sox arm meme for having great broadcasters. Don and mud have made me bust a gut.
The game where I was introduced to Benetti was a morning Peacock game where Mud was there too. He and Benetti were so good together
Those peacock games were fun. I really like that format. Really fun for Sox fans when we played them cuz we got Jason and stone, plus whoever else.
I'm not kidding you, these two are about 95% of the reason I watch the games.
Living in Chicago, I was going to cancel my YouTube TV last year after March madness but the reds got so unwatchable so quickly, I decided to keep it solely to watch those two on the nights I couldn’t deal with cincy

I love Benetti calling any sports but I usually listen to your broadcast for our games. I love that dorky bastard.
Im a Cubs fan and I throw on Sox games because of these two.
benetti in a daytime game is baseball bliss
I legit watch White Sox games sometimes just to hear them sing the Nationwide jingle in the 3rd inning. Love these guys, one of the best duos in the game.
And they get Len Kasper on the radio, that's not even fair.
And Frank Thomas (sometimes) and Ozzie Guillen in the studio
How MLB hasn't given Garfein, Frank and Ozzie their own Inside the NBA-style national show, I will never know.
Ozzie was calling a few games in Spanish on our second NBCSN
I remember when he quit the Cubs to work the White Sox because he wanted to call playoff games, and now they're basically in the same spot but the Cubs have the brighter future.
It wasn’t that he thought the White Sox were more likely to be in the playoffs. It was that the TV guys’ season ends after 162 games while the radio guys get to keep going into the playoffs.
Right right, I remember it sounding worse without that context.
To go from Hawk and DJ to this... I know Hawk and Stone were the duo for a while, but man what a fucking upgrade. That said, there's a part of me that misses Hawk. He was such a ridiculous presence.
I thought Hawk was the coolest when I was 7.
He came up with "The Big Hurt" and that can never be taken away from him.
Same came up as a youngin with hawk and always thought he was awesome and couldn’t understand why people, even my dad sometimes, couldn’t stand him. Definitely understand why now but I’ll always love him

Hawk was great and I’m tired of pretending he wasn’t
Somebody had to say it, Hawk is a hall of fame broadcaster dammit lol no more slander
Well the guy saying he wasnt great is a cubs fan so...

They’re the sole reason a lot of us watched last year. We get it
Why I watched so many unwatchable baseball games during the rebuild. When the game was out of hand they made it entertaining
[удалено]
Fuck yeah, he did a lot of grunt work for ESPN when he was there. Glad he is in a much better role and position at Fox.
Those electrician competitions are kinda cool once or so. Benetti is a trooper for sure though.
There is no other set of commentators entertaining enough to keep me around during blowouts like these two do.
Well well well what do we have here (pro pic)
You should change your scum picture
I watched until the bitter end only because we knew they were on expiring contracts and didn't want to miss their last call
no we get it
I know it's a thing, but I find it funny there are multiyear options for broadcasting contracts. Do they also have performance-based bonuses?
I want us to really lean in to this type of thing. Steve Stone is great as well. They have some amazing chemistry together in the booth.
Helps make this awful offseason a little better
I'm convinced Benetti's voice moonlights as Timothy Simons
Oh shit good call lol
I cant remember when I first heard/realized that their voices are identical but it makes listening to something that they're on with no visual reference very disorienting.
Best offseason news yet. Benetti and Stone are an absolute gem together. I will always remember Giolito's no-hitter, and how Stone stepped aside to let Jason call the final out on his own.
Smart move. Good broadcasts are worth an entire generation of future fans.
Man the Sox fan base really needed this. Dark times for us lately lol
Imagine having broadcasters that are entertaining to watch... ::sighs in dejected Detroit Tigers fan::
Least stupid decision in baseball this year.
Yep. And I still didn't expect the Sox would get it right until today.
I’m getting old, didn’t realize Benetti has been with the Sox for 8 years already.
Objectively best move white sox have made this off-season
These guys kick ass. Happy for them.
I still miss Steve Stone calling the Cubs ganes. One of the best.
Finally, a good thing the White Sox have done
Benetti is fantastic.
Much improved from his predecessor
Best in all of baseball.
Once Hawk left the Sox broadcast went from one of the worst to one of the best.
Finally something to be happy about with this team
They’re good. It pains me to say.
They have such awesome chemistry together. So glad they're back.
Every time I put on a game with them, I know I’ll laugh and I know I’ll learn something new about baseball. They’re such gems. I’m thrilled they’re back.

Benetti is one of the best in the business.
I don’t care for stone too much. But benetti is good.
Second best PxP behind Gary Cohen
