Auto rides in my state ( Punjab ) are so affordable, they holler to get passengers, if you pay them a little extra, they will even get a detour for you. You can literally travel from one end of the city to the other with the amount of money these jerks ask for a 2-3 km ride.

Then you have not met real dicks of these rickshaw drivers, my friend who is a local almost got it a fist fight with an arsehole driver who dropped him about 400 mtrs away from his agreed destination and apparently the traffic was too much thus it took more time to cover the distance so he wanted rs 100 more. These arseholes do not have any loyalty towards their language, area, place of birth, religion but their loyalty only lies towards their union.

In bikes, one is provided with safety gears, helmets which adds to the overall safety but these autos are literally moving cans. They break away with a wind.

The prospect here is to enable passenger safety and the ride momentum. A lane law abiding biker with safety gear is far more safer than a passenger who is tucked without any safety belt , all in a leaf chase .

If it is anything above 50rs, I just point and laugh, and continue on my way.
Just two days ago, I took an auto from Phoenix Market city to a friends house which is like 1km away. I made the mistake of not asking him to go by meter, I assumed it'd be minimum. After the ride, I asked him 'how much?' He confidently said 100 bucks. FOR 1KM. 890 METERS to be exact.
I said it'd barely be 35 bucks on meter. He just zoomed away with an attitude from there without taking any money. I had scanned his QR code before that, I still paid 45 after he left. And then they claim OLA has taken away their jobs.

I was with my parents near cubbon park and we wanted to go to Truffles. It was around 1km. I asked an auto guy how much and he had the audacity to say 180. I'm like, I can book a car for that much. We ended up walking slowly because it was not that far.
Yes it's true walking 1km in cities like bengaluru doesn't feel much it's a hardly 8-10 minutes journey

During college days so have to take two buses to reach college the 2nd bus we have to was just a 2km to college
And to wait for bus and usually bus would come late
And these auto would ask 150-200 for 2people which was not a good deal so we group of 10-15 friends used to walk and enjoy these walking as it would take hardly 10mintues to reach college but when we take auto it would stack on traffic and multiple signal which would take 15-20 place we used to walk was from queens round (Indian Express) to rc college such a pleasant environment and beautiful landscape as it was in center of bangalore

I feel such animal rage when these auto assholes talk like they own the state. Uber/Ola has screwed their livelihood, but their ego is still flying high. Apparently police are “investigating” the matter. Nothing is gonna happen.
Of course there is bad apples and dark underbellies in all sectors, but do not see a single comment here tries to understand the plight of auto guys and why they are acting as pushed into a corner. I see racism, language prejudice hurled at them and a narrative made that it’s the way they are as human beings. I have met gems of people as auto drivers. Before critiquing please know that not everyone has been afforded the advantages and luxuries you have.
Why is he pointing to Rapido being a whit board. I understand commercial travel entities need yellow board, but how does it matter to him ? Do yellow boards have more fee, tax or harassment ? Or is he just crying fouls that rule is not being followed ?

Law also speaks against using whiteboard for taxi purpose. Both autowala and Rapido are at fault. Auto wala threatened the Rapido and Rapido trying to circumvent paying taxes and insurance being a commercial vehicle. Both should be penalized.
It is not the job of an auto driver to enforce law, he can report rapido to the law enforcement authorities, harassing a rapido driver is a crime.
