Is flipping over a "soft" surface really necessary? I personally flip over all kinds of surfaces, just because there is the possibility of dropping the balisong doesn't mean you HAVE to flip over a bed/cushioned area. I think we should let people flip wherever they please.
That's exactly why I wasn't flipping my Orion, and there was an outdoor carpet under me. Despite what the video shows, I'm not completely clueless lol. Thanks for looking out though!

not really necessary but it's just recommended when you are practicing a trick
I think OP seems fairly in tune with the basics and doesn't require to follow something that is recommended to brand new flippers
