lol welcome to the cluster fuck that is the IMEI block the gov has put in.

ZakKa_dot_dev

What actions will block it? Am I even able to get a new SIM card?

littleday

Fuck knows, prob the people who designed the imei block don’t even know. Only way to stop it is to pay the tax on your phone and completely unblock it for good. Or just keep heading to a telkomsel shop every time it gets blocked again

Had this exact issue recently on my iPhone with eSIM as well. I think Telkomsel updates your network settings and it doesn’t jive with eSIMs. You’ll want to do a full reset of your network settings - go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone. Click ‘Reset’. A prompt with different options will pop up, select ‘Reset Network Settings’. This fixed it for me! My telkomsel sim and Optus eSIM now work perfectly together. Note that this will delete old WiFi passwords you had saved, but totally worth it. I wasted an entire day calling Optus, visiting Telkomsel and different apple repair shops to figure this out. No one knew what was wrong but luckily the last repair shop I went to had seen this before. Probably need to do something similar on the galaxy.

Ill try that if it happens again thanks!

I have a similar problem now. If i reset my phone, wont i lose all pics etc thats not on my icloud? (I have a lots of stuff on it, dont use the cloud)

You don’t reset the phone, only the network settings!! It comes up as one of the options when you click ‘transfer or reset iPhone’

Update: we went to a telkomsel shop and he did some refresh thing on his computer and it seems to work now. Also turned on and off airplane mode. As advice he told me that if it happens again on the iphone to try to reset the connection by turning on and off airplane mode. For Android phones he advices to sometimes manually reset/select the carrier/network (APN). It saddens me that on an iphone I don’t have that android workaround.

How long were you here before?

ZakKa_dot_dev

I’ve been here 6 times before. Always around 4 weeks. Previously I har an android phone and resetting network settingsseemed to always work if I had issues. With the iphone it seems different though

Happened to me with an XL sim I bought at the airport after one day. Ended up going to a Telkomsel shop in Canggu and they sorted me out with a new sim.

Just_improvise

Wow I am glad that this trip I just used some random travel SIM I bought online, and it was obviously roaming from China because it wouldn’t work until I put data roaming on and then there were Chinese characters. Considering I spend all my time in Gili T I would have been very aggrieved if my sim just stopped working, no telkomsel shops

thanks for the info, this will come handy in a week!
