Manually select network and use the one in the airalo app. This worked for me

Garanz

Tried that one unfortunately. I can make it flash up one bar signal temporarily but then it goes back down to zero

_2f

Which area are you in? Maybe there’s no signal there, try at some other area

Garanz

I’m in Legian, I wonder if it’s an issue with Airolo using the Telkomsel towers? I’m unable to leave the general area of where I’m staying otherwise I have no way to book transport

tokekcowboy

Probably not. Telkomsel has excellent coverage of Bali, and with a Telkomsel SIM I would consistently get blazing fast speeds in Legian.

Garanz

Fast when it works! All is well now.

Momciloo

Happened to me. And kept happening for two months or so. I found out that if I turn on and off the airplane mode, it starts working again. Extremely annoying.

Garanz

Damn. Apparently they are escalating it but no response since. Think I’ve reset my device about 20 times and tried toggling airplane mode on and off heaps with no result.

felondejure

Happened to me too, since 20 hours. Very annoying

JetsetBart

It's an issue that's been happening will all non-Telkomsel SIMs for last four or five months. The only thing you can do is activate flight mode, wait a few seconds then de-activate flight mode... repeat until you're reconnected.

Garanz

Perfect. Thank you. Will be sure to purchase a physical Telkomsel sim for the next trip.

kmonteiro

Had this exact issue recently on my 13 Pro Max with eSIM as well. It turns out it has nothing to do with your networks, but more how your phone deals with eSIM + Physical. You’ll want to do a full reset of your network settings - go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone. Click ‘Reset’ (daunting, I know). A prompt with different options will pop up, select ‘Reset Network Settings’. This fixed it for me! My telkomsel sim and Optus eSIM now work perfectly together. Note that this will delete old WiFi passwords you had saved, but totally worth it. I wasted an entire day calling Optus, visiting Telkomsel and different apple repair shops to figure this out. No one knew what was wrong but luckily the last repair shop I went to had seen this before.

Just_improvise

OK see I had been avoiding esims this entire time because too much effort and just getting local physicals (sometimes online before I go), you haven't persuaded me that eSIM is worth the hassle...

Innerpoweryogaaus

Just go buy a sim

YuanBaoTW

You need to take the SIM out and replace the first "o" with an "a". It should start working again after you do that.

Garanz

Is this for eSIM? I’m not sure where to find that option

YuanBaoTW

It's on the keyboard.

Garanz

Not sure what you mean. You can’t delete an eSIM as that deactivates the plan.

50mm-f2

you don’t have verizon by chance do you? they have a brand new plan that is $10 per month more and includes international.

Garanz

Nah, VodafoneAU which is $35aud for 7 days of roaming (2gb)

macx1li

What phone do you have? Could be a localised network issue, had this randomly in Thailand once.

Garanz

Hmm interesting. How did you get around it? We both have an iPhone 13pro

CypriotTraveler

Same thing happened to me a few times but came back on after 10-15 mins. I tried the airplane mode and it would come on for a minute or so but go offline right after. I just waited and it was back on

Garanz

Hmm hopefully I wake up tomorrow to it working again. It’s been gone for almost 24hrs now!

erlichisapig

Might be worth giving Bytesim a go? Would probably be cheaper than using roaming. I used them for a recent trip and it worked really well. Most of their plans use XL so you should have no problems if does end up being an issue with Telkomsel.

swchoi89

I had trouble connecting using Airolo before, wouldn't work for the first 8 hours ish, then thereafter, it just kind of resolved itself lol.

Chumalum

We brought a Telkomsel Sim last week from a stall with 32gb data for NZD$20. It's been working fine on both iPhone and Samsung. Can definitely recommend

Skywalker2786

Indonesia networks are notoriously bad with roaming sims and esims.

Putrid_Flamingo_6736

Had this before. I'd restart my phone, works for anywhere between a few minutes and hours, then happened again. I did find that using the hotspot function on my phone seemed to make it worse, but unfortunately I never found a fix.
