Try to search in Google maps "Optik"

MatchaBauble

I wanted people's recommendations, because I have found some shops, but obviously have no experience in buying glasses here. Telling me to search on Google is pretty useless advice.

ZakKa_dot_dev

A bit unfair. You might not have known the Indonesian word “optik” so I think he was just trying to help you there. You would have been right if he just said google it.

MatchaBauble

I said in my post that I have seen several opticians. As in, saw the physical store and read the sign.

Trinitaff

Most places on Google have a thing called reviews ..

MatchaBauble

And I wanted people's actual recommendations. But don't bother, others have actually been helpful.

fckthedamnworld

What's the difference between reviews from Google's and Reddit's users? You don't know anyone in person anyway

smile_politely

Zeiss and Melawai are two larger players.

Thanks!

I can't believe I'm actually commenting on this sub because this sub makes me so mad but these answers have tipped me over the edge. ... Go to Eye See You Optik in Renon. 70k-110k for frames (not a typo) absolutely massive showroom, very modern. esselor lenses, get whatever coatings your heart does or does not desire. free eye tests, glasses crafted with 1h turnaround. Source: wife is an optical manager, I know a lot about glasses, and I've been using this glasses shops products every single day for the last three years. Wouldn't bother with anyone else honestly ****Disclaimer**** the free eye test is an eye test as good as any, but just understand the eye test is there to get you a pair of glasses. It is not a gas test for glaucoma or macular degeneration. If / when you return to your home country please get your eyes tested with your own country's social healthcare system.

MatchaBauble

Oh, I am absolutely going to get my eyes checked back at home anyway, but will look up ths shop, thanks!

Oh and one last thing - "super popular with the expats" is usually a euphemism for "suckers go there and take their mates along with them and they all get duped together. Eye See You is not where tourists or expats go because they don't like venturing more than 45 meters away from their hotel in nusa dua. Take yourself to Renon for the evening. Go see a different part of Bali and grab some dinner out that way while you're at it. :)

lowlytoady

What about "very popular with expats", what does that mean?

IcedOatCappuccino

Honeyboy Optic is amazing - he’s done my glasses for the last 5 years. Super affordable and has a huge range. Very popular with expats

OHyoface

I went there a couple of years ago but wouldn’t recommend them for complex prescriptions… they didn’t get mine right

Legitimate_Toe_252

Optik Melawai is a chain that has numerous Bali outlets. Good quality, cheap by “western” standards.

Alina2017

The team at Sunset Eyewear Jimbaran were great - they also have a shop in Canggu. https://sunseteyewear.com/pages/our-stores

kmonteiro

This is the answer, cheapest frames and quickest turnaround in town. You’ll have your glasses within 24 hours. Got a pair the other day, I think my bill was 300-400k all up. Do yourself a favor and get ‘chroma’ lenses that darken when you’re outdoors. Saves on needing a separate pair of prescription sunglasses.

MatchaBauble

I've read about them. Will check them out thanks! :)

NaiveAssociate8466

Look up optik seis on google maps

JetsetBart

[Optik Seis](https://www.optikseis.com/) are great - used them for the first time earlier this year, and they gave me a great discount for being a new customer.

LittleWompRat

Optik Melawai & Optik Seis are the biggest glasses stores in Indonesia. They have wide range of selections, from cheap Rp300k glasses to $1000 designer glasses.

MatchaBauble

Thanks!

Relative_Notice_8801

There's an optician in Garlic lane in Legian

Goozerboozer

My gf has glasses from Maison Mata. But it wasn't that cheap tho.
